Christmas Day has arrived in the UK, so Merry Christmas from the Brickset team! We hope you have a great day and receive some presents with the familiar rattling sound of LEGO!

At the time of writing, Brickset members own 40,481,689 sets in total, so it will be interesting to see how much that figure rises in the coming days, as new sets are added to collections.

Huw, Chris, Megan and Alice -- the Brickset team.

Fiji! Wow! Though I’m in dreary Surrey, UK and we’re worlds apart, I’m reminded that the joy of LEGO brings us together. So let me wish you, the Brickset team and Bricksetters near and far a very merry Christmas and a LEGO-filled 2024!

It’s dreary here in Mississippi too. The skies are almost medium stone grey. It’s not cold at all though, it’s 60 degrees (about 17 degrees Celsius) here.

By in Germany,

After having been bombarded several times over with the usual dose of Christmas movies over the last couple of days (Groundhog Day, Die Hard, Home Alone, Little Lord Fountleroy, Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel), my festive feelings have taken a nosedive, especially after this year's many dreadful events, the last of which was our daughter's pet rabbit having to be put down just four days before Christmas Eve due to some incurable illness. Perfect timing...
So, sorry, but no feeling of "Merry Christmas" here.

And for the record, I got three presents this year, but none of them are brick related. So no remedy on that front either.
The new year can't come soon enough. I'm so glad to finally put 2023 behind me, this truly was an "annus horribilis" for us.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had a poor experience! This is by far the worst Christmas I've ever had. There was a paucity of gifts for everyone compared to previous years, and family drama. At least I can go and buy sets in the future for myself, but no amount of money in the world can truly mend a personal rift...

Gravatar

@AustinPowers:
In what world is a movie that’s named after February 2nd a Christmas movie?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's still Christmas here (just barely) but already Boxing Day in many parts of the world--so I'll wish everyone a Happy Boxing Day instead--and thank you, Brickset staffers, for so much joy in a difficult year. I hope 2024 is good for everyone on the site!

Similar boat here too. (Misery loves company, eh?) The bluest Christmas I've ever experienced. MIL died this summer, then my mom at the end of October. If that wasn't enough, my wife just changed jobs and I've had the joy of dealing with a newer teammate/coworker who has, at minimum, tripled my workload. 2024 can't come soon enough. No bricks for me either, but on the bright side, I did decide to begin a new Studio design/build project while I'm off for the holidays.

Happy Building in the new year!

Since Christmas has already ended (at least in the time zone I love in), I'll just wish everyone a happy Boxing Day! Or Unboxing Day, in my case, as my 42148 should arrive today.

It might not be about Christmas, but it's always shown at Christmas over here each year, just like Die Hard and Home Alone. (And Titanic, for that matter. And April 12 is even less Christmas than February 2).

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers:
That’s so weird. The movie starts on February 1st, and ends on February 3rd, with a metric crapton of February 2nds in between. But then again, Groundhog Day is an American invention, and I think Canada is the only other country that’s adopted it.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@PurpleDave : I guess it's simply because of its setting in winter and what with it being a popular evergreen movie. A similar case is Planes, Trains and Automobiles, which is also often shown in the run up to Christmas over here, even though it's set during Thanksgiving - which is also a US holiday that isn't a thing over here at all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers:
And someone tried telling me Home Alone wouldn’t have been successful internationally if it had been set at Thanksgiving…

Considering that it rained all day yesterday (which isn't uncommon; we get more Wet Christmases than White ones), I don't think there's really much call for that.

Had variations of rain, mist, and fog Christmas Eve & Day here in Wisconsin. I was about to reach thru the tv if the journalists made another cheesy Rudolph reference (as they had been doing for several days, given the forecasts). We haven't seen snow around here since Halloween.
