Says it's a weapon from 2009, even though it was made in 2010.

Everyone get back! He has a weapon!
And it's a flamethrower!

Well, just the flame actually, not the flamethrower.

It might not have the charm of "voodoo flame," but I still think it's cool. It's kind of like Stars Tahu in general that way.

As part 4544650 it worked pretty well in set 8985, but this was just a mistake to use in 7116. Even though it conceptually follows part 4143541 on being a vertical flame with the same three Technic connections at the base, on its own it lacks any of the style or cohesion the 2001 part did and is way too wide to read as a fire sword. Being used as *part* of Ackar's sword in 2009 worked since it was designed to fit into part 4544662 and it paired well, but just placing it into Tahu's hand with part 4622780 as an unconvincing pommel only contributes to Stars Tahu being an outright joke of a set. Granted, the Bionicle Stars were obviously a last-minute low-budget rushjob with minimal new molds, but the brand's flagship character deserved a better sendoff. (Glad we have 71308 and 40581 as a better "final Tahu" sets; both using their respective fire sword parts to much better effect.)

That's because this was the second version, with the first one being produced in 2009 with Ackar (8985).

That looks nothing like a car. Why would a car need a weapon anyway?

When I read things like this I really wish there was a symbol that could be placed in front of part numbers to bring them to the fore, like the octoprod for set numbers. A $ maybe?

As far as this part is concerned, I have catalogued very few Bionicle et al sets in my collection, so I can't say I've ever come across it but if we have it I'm sure my boys have done it justice.

Funny thing is was that the old Fire Sword was used the year before on 8975 Berix. While it strange why they didn't use that sword, my only guess for this choice was them originally to use that flame piece in more future sets for Hero Factory and Racers, thus giving Tahu having this version of it, but sadly been place with many of the retired bionicle parts.

Was never really a fan of Weapon 2009, I know it has its defenders, but it'll never measure up to Gun: The Animated Adventures, or the Sword Chronicles books. Even the parody, Pool Cue: Rock'n'Roll Rebel was better.

That's because it's one of those duel color elements that often end up logged under different part numbers. A slightly different color of the same mold popped up in 2009.

Although I mostly agree with what @Alia_of_AGL said about the use of this part in 7116, this second iteration is a marbled dual-color version of 8985's sword, making it evoke actual fire more convincingly. You gotta love that. I certainly do.

But what did all the other weapons released in 2009 get called?

It’s like Covid19, official launch was 2019 but it hit the mainstream in 2020.

Still a little confused by the "Loose Parts" category.

That's called a tank.

By in United States,

I used one of these as the breath weapon on my 3’ long Celestial Dragon from Legends of the Five Rings. When I took the dragons to Brickworld Chicago, I was told that every person on the nomination team picked one of the dragons for the Best Creature ballot, but none if them picked the same dragon. So, Celestial, being ~50% longer than any of the others, got put on the ballot.

@Alia_of_AGL:
Are you familiar with the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy? It’s a garbage design that looks like someone mounted a sheet of drywall on a broom handle, but people seem to like it.

Ironically, if you’re a CIA employee, and you have to draw a weapon, it’s because you (or someone else) totally guffed it. You recruit people to do the actual spying for you. As spies go, Bond, James Bond is almost as bad as Johnny English or Austin Powers, but it makes for great entertainment. If anyone actually walked in, and announced their real name, there’d be no chance of the head villain monologuing their entire scheme in detail. Someone would either shoot him in the head (if they didn’t care about being discreet), or hit him with a fast-acting toxin of some sort (if they didn’t want to draw attention).
