LEGO announces Peppa Pig DUPLO!
Posted by Alice,
LEGO continues to expand with new licensed themes, now including Peppa Pig in the DUPLO range! The press release follows:
Hello Peppa Pig! Hello Daddy Pig! The LEGO Group Welcomes PEPPA PIG Franchise into LEGO DUPLO
A delightfully unexpected mashup of companies founded in fun and play is now revealed between the LEGO Group, Hasbro and Merlin Entertainments, who are coming together to bring a truly joyful and beloved character to life in LEGO DUPLO form – PEPPA PIG!
Just in time for PEPPA PIG’s 20th anniversary, the companies are celebrating everyone’s favorite piggy with new experiences for toddlers. With a shared commitment to create and deliver great play experiences to children all around the world, the three brands will introduce new ways for preschoolers to engage with the much adored and globally celebrated PEPPA PIG character, known for her little snorts, giggles and love of jumping in muddy puddles.
“PEPPA PIG is hugely popular and LEGO fans have been asking us to do a partnership for years, it was only natural that the world’s most popular pig needed to come to life in buildable LEGO sets, so we are excited to finally make that happen with the amazing team at Hasbro,” says Roberta Cardazzo, Design Manager at the LEGO Group.
“Peppa is known for her confidence, ability to express herself and adopt new skills. She handles everyday tasks and obstacles with curiosity and charm and inspires children to be patient and learn to share. Toddlers can be creative with the Peppa sets and play out stories with the iconic figures, while they learn about caring for nature, friendship, and daily routines. It has been a joy bringing Peppa to life in products and we hope our LEGO DUPLO PEPPA PIG will create laughs and joyful moments wherever she goes.”
The exciting collaboration will see PEPPA PIG come to life in LEGO DUPLO form for the very first time in LEGO products, as well as incredible attractions and rides in Merlin theme parks. The first experiences will launch this year in Germany and Denmark, including the world’s only LEGO DUPLO PEPPA PIG area at LEGOLAND Billund and the brand-new PEPPA PIG Park in Gunzburg in Germany, situated next to LEGOLAND Deutschland Park. The theme park experiences will bring to life the LEGO DUPLO PEPPA PIG sets, iconic scenes, and characters from the TV show in real-life PEPPA adventures.
“For 20 years, PEPPA PIG has leaned into storytelling that reflects the real lives and first experiences of preschoolers around the world. With kids at the center of the brand, we recognize the importance of working with best-in-class partners to deliver toys and experiences tailored to her littlest fans,” said Casey Collins, President of Licensed Consumer Products at Hasbro. “LEGO Group and Merlin share in Hasbro and PEPPA’s goal of designing play experiences specifically for little ones, giving children the confidence to treat every first step as a new adventure and confidently jump into all of life’s muddy puddles.”
Since the beloved animated television series first premiered in 2004, PEPPA PIG has encouraged kids to jump in together and explore the world around them. With their best friend Peppa by their side, preschoolers have the confidence to treat every first step as a new adventure – from the everyday to the epic. Now in its 10th season, the PEPPA PIG animated television series has been running for 20 years in over 180 territories. Globally successful, the brand connects with consumers across every touchpoint, from entertainment and retail to theme parks, touring shows and so much more.
Scott O’Neil, CEO Merlin Entertainments, said: “This is an exciting step forward for two of our iconic partners, whose purpose is to entertain and educate through creativity and play. We’ve partnered with the LEGO Group for over 18 years and the power of the brand, across borders and ages, is unparalleled. We’re really proud to bring Hasbro’s PEPPA PIG to life with the DUPLO brand, beginning with our new PEPPA PIG Theme Park in Gunzberg and our LEGOLAND Billund Resort, as our guests make life-long memories and learn through play.”

I don’t follow this show at all outside of the “Peppa can’t whistle” scene, but these are adorable.
Her?
Now kids can re-create all their favorite scenes of being oddly very mean to the dad in particular!
I bet toddlers will be over the Moon when these sets appear.
I think Lego is rather late to the party with this one. Peppa has been popular for a decade already, and Peppa compatible Duplo blocks and figures are already wide available from 3rd party suppliers. But we'll see. TLG will give it a slick, well produced look I believe.
Peppa would work great in Fabuland universe.
I watched this growing up with my sister. I am very surprised they did not do a collaboration years ago when it first came out in 2004.
Personally I don't think Peppa pig sets a good example for kids, so much attitude from the little swine
I really wish Lego created a Bluey theme instead, it sets a much better standard and it's also on par with what is currently popular with this age group
Oh, yay? Bluey would be better.
At least it's not the bald headed bastard caiou, or however you spell his name.
Peppa is only good when turned into bacon.
It's an absolutely awful show. She's a nasty piece of work who learnt it all from her mother
"Daddy Pig, you're fat. Ha ha ha"
"Yes Daddy Pig, you're fat"
I despise it & will be going nowhere near these sets
As others have mentioned, Bluey is so much better in its messages
Peppa, Peppa, Peppa Pig … Peppa Pig! I’m a bit of an expert, so yeah better late than never. As others have noted, do Bluey next!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
...OOOO!
Still holding out hope for Bluey.
AFOLS WITHOUT KIDS: “seems fine for the target audience, IDK”
PARENTS: “roast alive in the fiery pits of hell you valueless swine!!!!!”
It was only just announced today
Duplo Peppa taught the kids to say
That their dads are fat and out of style
And it doesn't make @Toc13 smile
Oink!

Ironically these sets make it look like daddy pig lost some weight.
As others have said, Peppa Pig is a truly awful show, and is banned from our house thanks to the spoiled, entitled, and rude attitude of Peppa and what she gets away with!
My children are a little old for Duplo now, and I'm sure LEGO will produce its usual high quality standard of sets, but they won't be on our purchase list.
If they can get the Bluey license, however…!
Another IP that LEGO snatched... I remember in '21 or '22 the had Peppa-Pig branded, Duplo-compatible bricks at ALDI or LIDL. Maybe another Kartoffel here can kindly confirm, thanks.
NO! NO, NO!!! OH GOSH, PLEASE NO! NO, NO, NNNNNOOOOO!!!
Oh well. Legoland New York has an entire Peppa Pig section, so it was only a matter of time.

Keep it down, you'll summon Mr. Potato!
And that's not a name I should know.
April Fool’s! No? Oh ok …
As a British person all I can say is, where's my Hey Duggee sets??? I want some triangular chickens!!

We have more than 84 million Mr./Mrs./Other Potatoes to chose from. Some even have Bricklink accounts c0 .
Why? Who on Earth thought this was a good idea? Was the Bluey license out of reach, so they went with this instead? So many questions...
Agree with others that said this feels a little late to the party.
Definitely think Bluey would be the licence to jump onto in a timely fashion.
I'm looking forward to the UCS Duck Land playset.
"Everyone's favorite piggy," "world's most popular pig," Porky feels exclu...excli... left out.

I would love a Rolly set!
A collaboration between LEGO, Merlin, and… Hasbro?? And it’s not even the first Hasbro thing they’ve done now. How times change; not so long ago, the idea of collaborating with a rival toy maker was anathema to them. I wish they’d had this turnaround in their thinking while G4 of My Little Pony was still at the height of its popularity. Oh, well…
I was dimly aware of the existence of Peppa Pig, but I’m not directly acquainted with the franchise. This new theme announcement article and these comments are now the basis of most of what I know about Peppa. I can’t help but notice a whole chorus here saying Peppa Pig is not that great and also well past its own height of popularity, and that TLG would have done well to license Bluey instead. I still haven’t watched Bluey myself, but I do know enough about it to think LEGO Bluey would be a good idea, whether they do Peppa or not. Maybe in a few more years…
Lego is a bit late with this one, the show has been popular for a long time. And for me personally as my son is now 4 and moving on from duplo it comes a little late. He loved Peppa and when I heard about this I thought it was a shame it didn't come out sooner. However seeing the figures I'm not impressed, daddy pig not being fat and Peppa and George being the same size just make other brands toys look better.
Ooh it's nice to see some Duplo love. My daughter never quite caught on Peppa Pig so it's not a miss now she's too old but it can lead to super fun sets
Daddy Pig lost some weight
Well, not sure about how correct of an example Peppa Pig is, but I do think the show was rather funny. Too bad they're only available as Duplo figures so far.
LEGOLAND Belgium got cancelled, and then I guess they had some leftovers to introduce a Peppa Pig district in other parks :)
(of course not being really serious here but at least this seems to actually somewhat become a Duplo theme, instead of that LEGO Mythica thing just getting like 1 set that's LEGOLAND exclusive too)
Ah yes, the show that looked at South Park's visuals and said, "Eh... too much work."
As an artist, it's hard to stomach the artstyle. It's like they wanted to make it look like a child's scrawling, which would look SUPER charming, but they render simple and messy drawings in a clinical, Flash-animation way. It feels soulless, and is likely designed that way purely to minimize cost.
...Heh, I've been needing an outlet for this, thanks. Too bad they didn't go with Bluey instead!
For twenty years the theme has been going strong. Now those original viewers are having babies of their own… and the toddler isn’t the one buying the set. It’s the parents that see Peppa Pig and have a twinge of nostalgia and buy it. Exactly like we’ve all been buying Jurassic Park and Star Wars.
Compared to the normal Peppa Pig licensed toys... These duplo look Creepy... They should have done minifigs.
My knowledge of Peppa Pig starts and ends with Boris Johnson!

Very strange experience you describe.
My kids grew up with Peppa Pig, and even now that they're both teenagers they still don't mind watching an episode now and again. And believe it or not, even my wife and I both like the show. Plus, since each episode is only five minutes long at the most, it doesn't take up much valuable time.
And maybe it's different in the German translation, but I can't remember a lot of bad behaviour to be honest. I know they love muddy puddles, and their cars must have a hell of a transmission and power for climbing those steep hills so easily. ;-)
I can see this selling very well over here.
They only thing that looks wrong is the proportions of the figs. Especially Daddy Pig.
Makes sense since Peppa Pig is aimed at babies.
Is there a secret war between Peppa and Bluey?

Is it late though if it’s still popular? Maybe late for your kid, but not others.
My daughter will be thrilled with these!
As others have mentioned, I’m also holding out hope for a Bluey theme.
Given how expensive Duplo seems these days, I dread to think what these would cost.
Would be better if it becomes a 4+ theme, with mini-figures.

Peppa pig isn't for feint hearted Americans, but us Europeans love it! Unfortunately my daughter is 4 already, otherwise I'd be getting this for sure!
... so does this mean we'll get a Josh Allen minifigure to go with Peppa? I might have to pick one up for the Feed Peppa to The Pit memes.
Sorry, still processing the Bills loss from this past Sunday.
I don’t know whether I should burn it, laugh, or have it slowly crawl into my nightmares!
I can see my 5 yo daughter wanting this.
Don't mind me, guys, just here for the memes ...

I wonder if Bluey is popular in Europe. Up to this article I had never heard of that show, nor did I ever come across it on TV.
What I know is massively popular though with the target audience over here is Paw Patrol.

Well, like I said, I had never heard of Bluey before this article. And I was at our local toy store for some Series 25 CMFs today and there was zero Bluey toys or merchandise. There were loads of Peppa Wutz (Peppa Pig in German) and Paw Patrol toys and merch though.
Perhaps Bluey just isn't a thing over here - and news of it hasn't reached Denmark yet either. After all, if it took that many years for them to take notice of the massive popularity of Peppa Pig, perhaps Bluey sets will arrive some time in 2030 or so...
Oh, and seeing that strangely proportioned Daddy Pig again reminds me, this will be the "My Dad" equivalent for the new generation.
Mark my words! :-)

In 10 years TLG will realize Bluey is popular.
I wouldn't let my daughter watch that god-awful show, we were a Hey Duggee household.
Never heard of Bluey here does not have a localized wiki page for my country either, so I doubt it's dubbed in Dutch.
But Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol are on tv here dubbed / translated in dutch.
With those young kids shows it's a lot dependant on localization if english is not the primary language of the country , while english is taught at schools sooner nowadays.
Same with merchandise, random Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol items have been all over stores for a while now.
“Daddy Pig, you’re going to hell with the fattest people EVER!!!”
Western parents: Nope, I can’t see anything wrong with showing this to toddlers!
No thank you, not in my house.
Dinesaw... Rah!
My little son is 4 years-old and now he is playing with DUPLO and sometimes with my LEGO sets. But he will love Peppa Pig sets even if he is at the borderline of the recommended age!!

Paw Patrol is just about hanging on wrt merchandising in the UK but the show seems to be a long way down from its peak.
The Bluey cartoon is very popular, possibly a slightly older audience owing to the ages of the characters (5/6 & 8). The merchandise isn't at peak PP saturation level but there is still plenty.
It's also a lot more popular with parents & the question is often asked - What would Bandit do?
Tl;dr - give it a couple of years for Bluey to take over on the continent. The pacing might not be quite right for all tastes though
I was wondering how LEGO would represent the Picasso-esque presentation of both eyes constantly being on the same side of the heads... and while I'm simultaneously glad they didn't, and I realize it wouldn't be physically possible, I'm still vaguely curious what an attempt would look like.

Bluey is just plain popular. My sister watches it, and she is neither a child or a parent.
We asked for Bluey but got this? I am outraged. Look at me raging. Rage rage rage.
But actually not. Toys are toys.

Do you really think My Dad will brook any challengers?
Gangster as heck, can't wait for Peppa's Tattoo Parlor
I was wondering if something like this would happen, considering here in Florida there’s a Peppa Pig theme park owned by the Legoland owners.
Don’t have an opinion on the theme itself, but a partnership seemed inevitable given those circumstances.

Come to think of it, there's now a new dedicated Peppa Pig theme park next to Legoland Germany too!
I don't think they would build a completely new theme park for it if they didn't think there would be a demand.

For that to be the case it would have to have a wide audience base first. But I just looked it up, Bluey is only available on Disney+ at the moment over here, for which you need a subscription. And since Peppa Pig as well as Paw Patrol are available for free on normal television there's automatically a far bigger user base. Perhaps once Bluey will be available for free on the regular channels it might gain some traction.
The fact that there is zero merchandise or toys of it speaks volumes.
Plus, I know from personal recent experience how absolutely crazy kids over here are for anything Paw Patrol in particular, so that seems to be going very strong.

Are you kidding? That's definitely not a real quote from any Peppa Pig episode I have ever seen.
EDIT: I just googled your quote and it doesn't return any results except for this very Brickset article comments section :-)
Anyway, I also googled why Peppa Pig might be controversial, but couldn't find any remotely reasonable arguments. I mean, some woke-ish ramblings maybe, but nothing one could take seriously.
I just think back to my childhood. Back then, the even then completely outdated black and white comedy show with Laurel and Hardy was extremely popular, but you know what that couple was officially called in Germany? "Dick und Doof", which - wokeists cover your ears - translates as "Fat and Stupid", referring to Hardy's and Laurel's characters' portrayed looks and characteristics.
What's a harmless jab at Daddy Pig's big tummy compared to that? Especially since a huge part of the population nowadays is (sometimes grossly) overweight in real life too. At least Peppa Pig presents a realistic picture in that regard.
Since we're talking kid's TV, I have a child aged 4 and she watches both Peppa Pig and Bluey. Bluey is nice enough, but honestly I find it a little sanctimonious, and the fact the parents always have so much time and energy for their kids and everything is always so perfect gets a little bit annoying. At least Peppa Pig has a bit of humour and a recognition that people aren't actually perfect all the time, including small children.
They lightened up a bit on Daddy Pig in later seasons too, he's still fat and a bit lazy but is respected for his work and does a lot for his family, and frankly comes across as a far more real person (for a cartoon animal...) than Bluey's idealized parents. I can imagine Bluey's parents as the couple next door who always mow their lawn every week and eat perfectly cooked meals every day prepared from fresh ingredients and keep their car spotless....
Hands down the absolute best kids' TV show at the moment though is Puffin Rock. A nice, calm, beautifully animated show with lovely characters who are nice to each other.
Back on topic, I'll try and pick these up for the figures, although my daughter plays more with Lego than Duplo these days (the Gaby's Dollhouse theme was a big hit for us).
I've only tangentially been exposed to Peppa Pig. I've watched episodes at other people's homes and blasted through the video games for easy trophies.
Seem find to me, and I didn't see any of the attitude issues people are talking about. Seemed more funny and down to earth than most shows for toddlers.
If you want to see an absolutely horrible toddler show, check out a few episodes of Caillou...

I hope they do a lighthouse with Grampy Pig.

Exactly.
You described rationally what I intended to say but had to resort to more drastic wording to get across my thoughts.
I really don't get how people can take issue with a harmless kids show for toddlers like Peppa Pig. If you want to criticize cartoon shows for bringing on bad behaviour in kids, criticize South Park, or American Dad, or Adventure Time, all of which show loads of disgusting behaviour unreflected. And since many kids don't understand the concept of satire yet, they will take what they see at face value and might be quite disturbed. Can't see how that should happen with Peppa Pig.
Too bad they couldn't get Bluey. It is a vastly superior show.
So let me get this straight: Peppa Pig gets a licensing agreement but Bluey doesn’t? I don’t understand Lego’s thought process…

There’s not really anything secret about it.
@TeriXeri the English wiki says there’s a Dutch dub; maybe it’s just that no one’s gotten around to making the Dutch wiki.
@legogeek I wouldn’t hold my breath, seeing as how the series doesn’t appear to be continuing and its last season dropped over a year ago.

Lego do licensing with the themes that have the widest global reach and biggest audiences. That's entirely appropriate for the world's largest toy company.
Peppa Pig has over 270 episodes and is broadcast in over 180 countries. Bluey doesn't come close.
I saw the comments about Daddy Pig being out of proportion, but I am surprised no one mentioned the other inaccuracy: the pigs should have four eyes, two on each side. If you ever watched the cartoon, you would notice that two eyes are always depicted on one side of the snout regardless of which way they face, and you only see the side profile in the animation. One would have to conclude that they have four eyes.

If they watch those shows, it's because their parents subscribed to this stupid idea that anything animated is safe for kids. I feel the sudden need to watch some Goblin Slayer.

What sane adult lets their toddler watch any of those shows? Peppa is a show for little children, and you are comparing it to South Park, which is not mean for anyone under like, 16 at least. Adventure Time is a stretch as well, but for different reasons - it's meant for 10 and up I think.

Our kids, 6 and almost 8, still like Peppa but don't watch the show anymore. Bluey is squarely in their current wheelhouse, and we very much enjoy it. They aren't ready for Adventure Time, yet, but I'm looking forward to the day when they are. The _perfect_ show at this moment in their lives is Hilda on Netflix. It's fantastic. Hey TLG, we'd love to see some Hilda sets!
Remember when Peppa Pig used to air on Cartoon Network back in the day? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Looked it up and found it's broadcast at the Dutch Disney Channel, between 7:30 AM and 6 PM
I never really watch that channel myself (that channel has like market share of 0.2% (2017), not a joke) , and it competes with itself pretty much with a daytime channel named DisneyXD (market share 0.3% 2017)

Maybe the follow up to TMNT Mutant Mayhem will lead to another wave of Turtles sets, and we can get Usagi in there somehow. I enjoy that crossover.
This proves Lego is only for money.
If they had soul, they would choose Bluey which is not only a better show but also WAY closer with their teachings, and also is VERY popular.

" @legogeek I wouldn’t hold my breath, seeing as how the series doesn’t appear to be continuing and its last season dropped over a year ago."
Yes, I realize that.... I just wanted to see if anyone was familiar with the series. What I really want are Usagi Yojimbo sets. I can dream. ;)"
It's too bad Lego lost the TMNT license; that might have opened a back door for Usagi, given all the crossovers there have been between the two franchises.
There have been (non LEGO) duplo sized Peppa Pig figures in the past. In the UK they were sold as Bloxx brand.
I can totally tell which ones of you are personally offended by the show and hate everything to do with it because Peppa makes innocent toddler-like remarks about her fat dad. For my next IDEAS submission: a bathroom scale.

It does raise a dilemma. It is OK for Peppa to make jokes about others being fat. But when the kids go to nursery, it is not OK to even call others fat, let alone joke about it.

Personally I think its a good teaching point about how you can joke around with family and people you know, but not strangers....

I don't think most toddlers can make that distinction. Some, yes, but not the majority.
I thought from the first picture that this was an April fool's joke...
This is good news, I was wondering what to get my Goddaughter for her 2nd birthday in a couple of months XD Hopefully the full release isn't too long off
Why all the obsession with Bluey?! I really couldn't care less.
I'll put my hand up and say (if only for balance) "NOOOOO NOT BLUEY!!"
And now back to meaningful conversation... ?
Teal color is making a comeback in Duplo line.
Wait, it's not April yet....
Aw biscuits!

"Another IP that LEGO snatched... I remember in '21 or '22 the had Peppa-Pig branded, Duplo-compatible bricks at ALDI or LIDL. Maybe another Kartoffel here can kindly confirm, thanks."
I saw those, it was at NETTO (the black and yellow one aka the true NETTO) though. LIDL has their own awesome brick line, playtive clippys, with licenses such as Asterix and Lucky Luke, great stuff there. I also love the designation of Kartoffel and will proudly use it from hereon out!
