The Dragon Stone Shrine is a BEAUTY.

Whoa! Arin's Dune Buggy is too sweet!!

Dragon Shrine is going to be a day 1 purchase, beautiful!

*sigh*

So, here's the thing. I think, and nobody is under any obligation to agree with me, but I think that 2023 was a pretty outstanding year, in terms of Lego sets. There were so many big sets from blockbuster themes. The Batman '89 sets, the Avatar 2 sets (the giant alien whale was one of the most beautiful Lego sets I've ever built), the Jurassic Park sets, all those gorgeous Friends builds, the gorgeous Dreamzzz sets, the reboot of Ninjago with the Imperium sets... I know it was a good year, because my gauge is my wallet, and I damn near bankrupted myself trying to keep up with them (and there's still a few I haven't picked up yet).

So far, I've found 2024's offerings a lot more ... interesting. Only one Friends set on my "wanted" list (the small one, the cow shed), only one Dreamzzz set (the small one, the narwhal airship), only one Technic set (and I'm still waiting for Lego to post out the replacement piece so I can actually finish building the darn thing. Hint hint, Lego). Only a couple of the smaller Creator sets interested me, only one Harry Potter set, etc.

And I was like, phew, I can pull back on my spending this year, because there's just not much I really want (and the ones I do want are mostly smaller). I don't count the City sets because, even though there's a large range of smaller City sets -- all of which I plan to buy, because they're fantastic -- City is a constant for me. Regardless, I caught myself thinking, okay, it's all good for 2024.

Then the Ninjago sets dropped. Holy hell, they're amazing. They're AMAZING.

The mecha are cool. The wolf villains are interesting and unique. The little dragon flyers are cute and the gimmick works wonderfully. And now these sets? Oh my gosh, they're *beautiful*.

*sigh*

Well, who needs food like, every day, you know?

By in United Kingdom,

Wow, only this morning I was wondering if Ninjago had dropped off my 'must have' theme list in favour of Monkie Kid... nope, they're both still up there.

I love me a bad-guy lair, and the shrine really pushes Ninjago to the upper tier of quality design. Nice to see Riyu growing up, let's hope he's an absolute mega-beast at some point in the next few years.

By in United Kingdom,

As beautiful as the shrine is, it's just an overpriced ornament

Gravatar
By in Greenland,

Yet again another wave that shows that, with me anyway, Ninjago either hits or misses. I could not care less about most sets, but every now and then, they release what seems to be - according to the pictures anyway - a masterpiece. That dragon shrine is quite something. I don’t know where I’ll put it but I’ll get it.

By in United Kingdom,

Majority of these aren't doing loads for me (been there, done that, got the t-shirt), but the lil Riyu dragon's a neat pocket money grab (plus Sora's hair with cat ear headphones! she just like me fr!) and that Dragon Shrine is utterly *gorgeous*, proper amazing design work going on there with stone head's shaping. Will def be grabbing both at some point down the line!

By in United States,

I don't see CAD/USD pricing on these. The sets themselves look fantastic, but I have to consider prices more these days as everything is more expensive.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I love the Dragon Shrine but I have no interest in the Ninjago minifigures.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The dragon stone shrine is AMAZING. Even for those who don't care for Ninjago, it's a perfect Asian-style display piece.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As someone who cares about ninjago(evidently not everyone here does) and finds the sets amazing, I see this as an absolute win.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now my only problem is balancing ninjago and other themes with my newfound marvel buying interest

Gravatar
By in Germany,

That Buggy price definitely has got to be a mistake. Even at 20 Euro it would feel like little what you get for your money. At 50 Euro it would be utterly ridiculous.
And it's not even a good looking set either. Boring just like basically any Ninjago Buggy so far.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

That shrine is just so cool, very original design and still so eye-catching.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That shrine is beautiful, but it doesn't look like 1200 pieces and DEFINITELY doesn't look like 120€. The other sets don't seem priced correctly either...
Is LEGO putting a "licensed" tax on Ninjago and paying it to themselves now?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I don't normally collect Ninjago, but I NEED that Shrine!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I want to put real water in the Dragon Shrine.

Agree, and so is the Wolf Dojo.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

The dragon and the shrine are my favorites by far, will probably pick just them. But the others look great too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think the Dragon Shrine will be another addition to my growing temple complex. Forget the ninjas, Ninjago has been supplying some nice architecture the past couple of years.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even with all my disdain for Ninjago... I have to admit that 71813 and 71819 actually look really cool. Not go-out-of-my-way-to-buy-them cool, but still cool. Maybe I'll get them when they go on sale or without minifigures on Bricklink.

Also 71812 low-key looks like a ripoff of the Crimson Typhoon from Pacific Rim. Just sayin'.

By in United States,

A month and a day...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am the great stone dragon! Good morning! I will go forth and fetch Mulan! Did I mention that I was the great stone dragon?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

What a neat wave. Honestly though, the only one I'm really drawn to is 71810 (which is fortunately the cheapest). It's like a battle pack with a fantastic dragon as the build.

We'll see about the shrine.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Both 71819 and 71813 look great, 71819 in particular, but I'm hesitant to say they're both worth $120 USD. Maybe the reviews will tell.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don't care about Ninjago at all but that Dragon Stone Shire is dope

Gravatar
By in United States,

Again, the bad guys seem so ridiculously outmatched by the heroes.

That said, some very excellent designs here!

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Dragon Stone Shrine is beautiful. With unique figures would be a perfect set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This definitely feels like one of the best Ninjago waves in a while! I love the shrine and dojo, but Riyu and Kai's mech also look really good! I like how the new climber suits give each ninja unique armor. It's a shame that Zane is exclusive to the highest price bracket. Hopefully he will be in the minifig polybag, but it will probably be another Kai or Lloyd.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Man! I can’t wait for march the ninja suits are insane!

Gravatar
By in United States,

wow this wave is fantastic

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Wolf Mask Shallow Dojo.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Mojo Dojo Casa Wolf.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Enough said but what the? Sora's bike mech (71792) contains almost twice as many pieces as Arin's buggy... and is even less expensive? What sorc... erm, I mean, spinjitzu is this? I hope it's a mistake because the color scheme and shaping are very appealing on this new set. The rest is also nice imo.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

those prices are rediculous!
119€ for a tiny stone dragon set that looks to be worth no more than 50€ and 120€ a temple facade that looks like a 70€ set at best,...REDICULOUS!!

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THESE!!!

EDIT: I also do not understand the love for that dragon shrine. I mean: it doesn't look like a dragon, the proportions of the entire thing are off, it looks unbalanced, the tree is a complete mess (again!! lego really doens't know how to design a good looking tree) and the sculpting...what sculpting? It looks like an OK moc, but not something I would expect from a top notch LEGO designer...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Remember the good old days when unique Elemental Master figures came in cheap sets?

It’s certainly possible; the Dragons Rising series shows other dragons of his flock as adults. They’re like the one “lesser” dragon that doesn’t have a set yet. Maybe adult Riyu will eventually fit that bill.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Young Dragon Riyu is an inexpensive way to get new ninjas Arin and Sora, and the Dragon stone Shrine set looks amazing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

71819 Dragon Stone Shrine - Wow!! Just beautiful!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yes, like everyone else - that shrine...

If I get it, need to shoe-horn it into the Ninjago City Gardens in some way...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The pricing gets worse when there's no show to coincide with it???

new trailer just dropped, aparently show is coming in april

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is not in the least an exaggeration to say that my jaw dropped open on seeing the Dragon Stone Shrine. That's an absolutely gorgeous set, pulchritudinous even.

Holy smokes, out of nowhere NinjaGo with the massive W.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego owns the rights to Ninjago, so can people stop saying 'licensing fees' are why the cost of all sets are through the roof? They have lost their minds.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I am tired of sets that cost a lot, look great but there is ABSOLUTLY nothing in them to do.
Only the climber mech looks good. Raiju looks unfinished, and thats AWFUL headmold with no openaple jaw is a travesty.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dragon shrine is a must get. Dojo is a sure get. Not sure yet about the red mech. I think I like Jay's and Mei's MK better.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Dragon stone shrine is best one.
Baby Dragon Riyu is ugly.
