Random minifig of the day: sw0965
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is sw0965 Dwarf Spider Droid - Dark Bluish Gray Dome, Dark Bluish Gray Cone 1 x 1, a Star Wars figure that came in one set, 75016 Homing Spider Droid, released during 2013.
Our members collectively own a total of 9,601 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $12.50.

That's not a Minifigure
Why everyone saying no minifig here? Is it because of the crotch gun?
No es una minifigure, es verdad.
Yo no veo los otros comentos que dicen el mismo.

Dave Bautista had a crotch gun in Glass Onion.
(He had a pocket in his swimsuit that he put a gun in. It was terrifying.)
This is why I sugested there needs to be need of different naming shemes.
That's not even a buildfig. THIS IS JUST A SIDE BUILD.
And if we want to be specific.... Why Spider droid from new set is not considered "Minifig"?
Everyone here: That's not a minifig
Obi-Wan: From a certain point of view...
Hey guys?
...I think it might be a minifig.
Spider Droid: "Hey, let's go for some frosty chocolate milkshakes!!!"
Battle Droid: "No, no...'Hom-ing' Spider Droid..."
Spider Droid: "D'oh!!!"
Also (before someone else does it):
Spider-Droid, Spider-Droid
Kinda' looks like,
He's annoyed
@brick_r: I wanted to do a play on the old Spider-Man theme song, but I couldn't come up with a good rhyme for "droid."
This is a droid murderer! Its legs are made from battle droid torsos!
Does anyone else find the designation “dwarf” a bit odd? Like, the only thing that makes this droid dwarf-like is the sheer size of the other droid in the set it came in. Why isn’t that one “giant spider droid” or this one “some function other than homing spider droid.”

Nah, they had one of those in From Dusk Til Dawn, and while it didn't make any sense at all, it could easily be printed on the legs assembly.
That’s a biiiiig minifig!

We're going to need a bigger boat.
Wait, no, I missed it up.

Agreed this is as much of a minifig as the set of the day

Annoyed! That would work if you could fit that in the song.
Might as well make 75233 Droid Gunship a minifigure then.
Where’s crocodile Dundee when you need him?

It ain't even a bigfig!
Fun that this… ahem… Lego buildable figure… pops ups.
Almost daily my 14 month old comes into my office and swooshes this guy around making a rocket ship sound. Then proceeds to destroy it. Rinse, repeat.

To be fair I’m pretty sure that’s a nose gun
Can it be that Huwbot pranked us (it's the last day of carnaval after all)?
Because this is, as sorry as I am to be minifig-ist, no minifig. ;-)

Spider droid
Spider Droid
Does whatever until he's destroyed
Can he shoot any clone
Yes he can, if they're alone
Look out, here comes a Spider Droid
A minifigure this is not.

You mean "That is not a knife! THIS is a knife!"?
And "Ez nem egy minifigura!"
"Minifig" You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means
To nie jest minifigurka
That's not a minifig, nor a jigglypuf seen from above.
By the technical definition, a figure requires two standard minifigure parts to be considered a minifigure and the Dwarf Spider Droid includes the torso and arm from a Battle Droid, so...
This is not a minifigure.
To address this briefly, I would not consider this a minifigure for the reason @Rimefang mentioned. If the Dwarf Spider Droid is a minifigure, the same should really be applied to Homing Spider Droids, Vulture Droids, Droid Gunships and others. However, that decision is in the hands of BrickLink.
Personally, I would place the cut-off point at Droidekas. I think people would expect to see them on a list of Star Wars minifigures, but not the Dwarf Spider Droid.
Da's geen minifig....
Gotta say, that’s a pretty loose use of the term ‘spider’ too

Edit2: nope it does not. Ok... Uh Yoda style!
A Minifig. That is not.

This is not a minifig.
(It's a *photo* of a minifig.)
Look, it's a crab droid!
Huh? What's that? LEGO is too lazy to design a crab droid? So they just plopped one of these in 75337 instead? Gotcha.
Dónde está la minifigura?
Qué yo la vea!

It's got to be pretty rare for a day's random minifigure to have more pieces than its random set, right?
This's no mini figure, it's a space station! WOOO!
(Twister and a SW reference in one!)

Well, it's far from the first Lego "spider" to have fewer than eight legs... *Side-eyes the Visorak*
Brickset: Surely this is a minifig.
Leslie Nielsen: It's not a minifig. And don't call me Shirley.
I didn't have time to read the other comments, but this is not a minifig.
Here's a build listed as a minifigiure and it's only figure part is a single droid arm :\

The bricklink catalog is getting worse as time goes by :\

That's not a minifig
Don't blame it on the minifig(s) or Huwbot. It's the database of that {thing) that got messed with.
What's with the unsightly blue pin on that 'minifig'?
Droidekas being counted as minifigs makes sense to me since they're roughly minifig-scale, are considered general mooks for minifig battles, and are often put in the lineup of minifigs in set photos (though usually not included in the lineups on boxes; hmm). Dum-E being counted as a minifig is a bit of a stretch as even though it's a named "character" (insofar as being a robot arm that exhibits a small amount of personality) there isn't really a consistent build for it across the sets that it appears in (while Droidekas have gradually evolved they often settle into certain build formats for periods of time), so it feels more like a side-build. That said, in general, I'd probably consider anything that would qualify as an action figure in another toyline to be a minifig.
Dwarf Spider Droids are miniature tanks, not characters. I don't *think* Hasbro would label a toy one as an action figure; I don't really see this as a minifigure. It's a defined side-build of a particular subject matter. This particular one uses minifig-categorized parts, which is a point in favor, but not a great one.

OK, so what is the largest set we can find in the database that is "officially" a minifig by virtue of having two or more minifig parts built-in?

Start with pirate ships. A few have figureheads consisting of a minifig torso and head, plus other stuff.

I'd buy a new and complete Ego Minifig for the standard price of € 2.50 - 4.00
That’s not a minifig, that’s just a picture of a minifig
This is like "The Good Place" when someone calls Janet a "robot". She replies. "Not a robot." If someone calls her a girl, "Not a girl."
Huwbot posts a "minifig" that has no minifig parts...so people (accurately) reply "Not a minifig."
Consider it training for Huwbot's AI.
This minifigure is bigger than a lot of sets.
Toto opravdu není mini figurka
I agree with m'learned colleagues' judgements. This is not a minifigure.

Minifig? No, this would be his true form.
You are RmotD, but we do not grant you the rank of minifig.

Well, technically those Battle Droids elements are not considered minifigure parts. The two or more elements need to be a standard head, torso or legs. There are plenty of sets in which undecorated minifigure heads have been used as part of something other than a minifigure, but I am not sure about the torso or legs.
Let me just say that the design of those spheres are very elegant. The way that the half-sphere inner sections pop in easily but stay secure enough is very well designed.
They can rotate seamlessly without popping out, and the anti-stud pattern and technic axle hole makes them versatile. A great solution to the problem of putting a sphere in a square-centric world (Lego).

Aside from the ship's figureheads I previously mentioned, best I can think of is they used to use two sets of miniquin legs on horses from that era. Those aren't technically minifig legs, though.
