Micro Rocket Launchpad available now!

Posted by ,

Perhaps the most interesting gift-with-purchase of 2024 to date, 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad, is now available with purchases exceeding £180, $200 or €200 on LEGO.com.

This offer is currently only available for Insiders members, but will expand to everyone from the 19th and end on February 25th, although it may not remain in stock for that long.

Pre-orders also qualify for gifts-with-purchase and many March sets announced recently are available to pre-order.

Nooooooo! Bummer, I was really hoping this would last through March 1st. I was planning a big order. Hopefully the March GWP will be just as good.

Pre-orders also qualify and plenty of March sets are available to pre-order, such as Star Wars, Speed Champions, Harry Potter and others.

It’s easy to say it’s the most interesting of the year when we’re only 7 weeks into 2024

Awww, man, even the box is all retro! I really have no choice here... Guess it's finally time to pull the trigger on 80054.

I was hesitant to buy enough to hit the threshold for this, and every single good set being out of stock sure isnt helping

I'm kind of torn between that or Eldorado, or a bunch of PaB parts. I'm likely to do 2 out of those choices.

I did not think of that! and Ninjago is exactly the theme I want! Thanks! Do you happen to know when the will be available for preorder?

I'd say PaB if you can make it work. Save el Dorado for another promo it'll be on shelf for a bit. PaB can come and go at random.

Not showing up o Lego.com for me. Wonder if it's already sold out.

This might be the greatest number of articles per minifigure size in Brickset history.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I would order 42181 and 42179 (the threshold is $260 in Canada) but those two are not in the pre-order group.

What to do? And then, do I really want this? A part of me says: "no, this is not minifig scale". Another part of me says: "well this is a worthwhile tribute to Classic Space so I should get it". I'm feeling a bit like Smeagol/Gollum.

Keep in mind (stateside at least) that Bricks and Pieces qualifies towards GWPs! Go buy an Orca army and get Space Babies!

That's the $200 question, isn't it?

I could honestly see it going either way. I love this promo regardless, so I'll be happy whether they're exclusive or not.

The codes before the article title (APAC+EU) means the article is only referring to the regions of Asian-Pacific and European Union.

The promotion didn't go live in the United States (and all of North America) until 12:00 midnight EST, which was just about an hour ago.

By in Netherlands,

I'm betting on this GWP running again in June/July, like the blacktron and tahu sets did last year. I've already got plenty sets left to build and I can't justify spending another two hundred bucks on sets this time of year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ok I still think it's kinda dumb that something this neat is locked behind being a $200 GWP (if it were a bit lower threshold I wouldn't have much of a problem), but honestly I find this whole microscale thing a fairly good solution to the complaints about updates of Classic theme sets being locked behind GWP, or at least palatable. It's really neat but it's not like.... /need/ in that way a full minifig-scale update would be.

You could add a brick separatator or some other cheap set to your order to go over the threshold.

Nope, they didn't do that. But didn't matter in the end, instead of the Concorde I pre-ordered the McLaren MP4/4 and a bunch of Exclusives, which together happened to be just over €200.

I do still want that Concorde but I'm still hesitant since I have no proper place to display such a huge thing.

I did a big PaB to get the GWP. The terms say standard PaB won't count, but it's worked out in the past. The GWP popped into my bag. Purchase is confirmed.

I also bought the Monkie Kid City as a backup for a second copy. The terms don't appear to void multiple purchases any longer. In practice, they definitely haven't bothered since the pandemic.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Hard to tell if I should grab this now. Was considering Eldorado (since that's a must-buy to pair with my original), and this would probably sell for a good bit on the aftermarket. It's very cute but I don't really need spacebabies, and I have a number of original CS sets in minifig scale, though none of the sets recreated here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Davie7182 said:

I did for a bit. I was rebuilding a PAB order (about 10% if it went out of stock), and I’d used a second window to add some sets to my cart. It choked on my PayPal payment, but when I closed the second window that was showing my shopping cart, I was able to get it to go through. Maybe if I hadn’t been sitting there repeatedly refreshing the second cart to see when it purged….

Gravatar
By in United States,

I did a $200 PAB order this morning - no issue with it being added. I did the same for the last promo as well. I actually had the GWP shipped to me before any of my bricks came in!

"I have had good luck in the past where the one penny got rounded up and I go the GWP anyway."

From talking to LEGO Store employees, a $100 GWP may have a hard spend of $100, it may be exactly $99.99, or it may be even lower. In the latter case, they can’t find the true threshold unless they ring up two orders that land just above/below, and only one allows the GWP. For $99.98, that’s easy enough with two $49.99 sets, but trying to check $99.00 or $95.00 is more of a challenge.

Why they vary like this is unknown. They don’t get any warning, so the only ones that are an easy guess are GWPs that pair well with new D2C releases that cost just below the stated threshold. So, Modulars, or Winter Village are lines that have often had this penny forgiveness, if only because it’s cheaper than paying someone to take an irate phone call from every customer, and then send them free copies of the GWP anyways to placate their anger.

@Banners:
If you mean VIP rebates, those should apply before payment is submitted. I think you should be able to apply prepaid LEGO gift cards, too. If you mean splitting the payment between a prepaid credit card and PayPal, that would probably only work if you linked the card to your Paypal account as the preferred method of payment (and your normal preferred form as the “backup”).

@StyleCounselor:
Old rules from when there was Pick-a-Brick and Bricks & Pieces were that one counted and the other did not. Now that it’s PAB Bestseller and PAB Standard, both count.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Eh, went for it. Seems like it'll be a pretty popular GWP on the aftermarket, and I was 100% going to be getting Eldorado at some point. Hopefully it'll cover around 15% of the cost, not a bad discount considering I don't expect Lego to discount it any other time.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I ordered Eldorado Fortress 10320 to obtain this GWP - no interest in Spacebabies, so will probably sell them off if I build the set.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Gravatar
By in Canada,

FOMO hit me hard this morning and I decided to get this. I selected three potential sets to get it: 10297, 10318 and 10320. All of them were backorder. I went for 10318 as this was exactly the threshold (minus one cent: 259.99) to get the GWP.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Is there a reason why the BrickLink Designer Program sets do not count towards this GWP?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Re 199.99 vs 200 and the threshold, prices in the Irish LEGO site and store are full EUR amounts like 20, 30, 200 etc. It has been like this since around mid August 2022.

I assumed this was the case globally, obviously not.

Seriously Lego, this should not be difficult. Just put the threshold at: X minus 0.10 (in any and all currencies). This means you have to meet the threshold within 10 sets (some people prefer having lots of smaller sets than big sets and it's fine).

I was lucky this time around, I met the threshold of 260 with a set of 259.99 But I remember in the past not being able to do that.

I wound up getting Scary Pirate Island 40597 last October but will probably never open it as Pirates isn’t my thing :~S

I snagged this GWP, 40712, today and will definitely be opening it and adding it to my Classic Space display collection.

To reach the threshold, I got Japan Postcard 40713, Harry Potter: Forbidden Forest 76432, Jurassic World: Baby Dino Rescue Centre 76963, War Machine Mech 76277 as a gift for a friend, and a load of PaB parts including some white CS astronauts.

Yeah. I suppose my point wasn’t as artfully expressed as I would like.

It was simply this: the terms still forbid PaB purchases from counting- even though they clearly do count in practice, and have for at least a couple years. Thus, the terms need an update.

Yet, they did bother to update (and change in practice) the terms regarding multiple purchases.

Perhaps even more bizarre, is that they did update the terms to reference "PaB standard pieces" as forbidden even though they clearly do count in practice.

Lex applicata v. lex scripta.

Seems incongruous, don't you think? But, it's Lego, after all.

Gravatar

By in United States,

Pity the new Snow White set wasn't available for preorder, but I got the Dune 'copter and a few small sets that had been on my wish list for some time instead. Although Lego is still promoting the GWP on the US site, it’s no longer added to my cart when I go over the threshold. Looks like it must have just sold out.

A shame since I’m going to be away for a few days and was hoping it would last long enough for me to order and have it arrive after I returned. I didn’t want it sitting outside in the rain.

I’m going to hope the local stores still have it after I return.
