Random minifig of the day: ppg004

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is ppg004 Donny the Unicorn, a The Powerpuff Girls figure that came in one set, 41288 Mojo Jojo Strikes, released during 2018.

Our members collectively own a total of 1,361 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $5.70.

By in New Zealand,

This is definitely a minifigure, even though it's a bunch of pieces that are NOT apart of a normal one.

This unicorn needs dental work... his mouth only has two teeth!

It's more of a minfigure than https://brickset.com/minifigs/sw0965 , at least.

Edit: Although the description of the set itself doesn't call this a minifigure.

I find it interesting that this figure is simultaneously very different from and very similar to Unikitty.

No, I would say they are about the same. They are both characters but, are built using non-minifigure parts. So you might as well make the buildable figures normal minifigures as well.

Sigh. That's not a Minifigure.

By in Canada,

Why is Steroid Unikitty wearing a party hat crown? Anybody have lore on this?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Theirs a reason they only made two sets in this theme.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Okay, at this point, Huwbot is just trolling us with his minifigure selections.

Got the hat on set while filming the first Deadpool movie (makes a brief cameo when Wade gets stabbed in the head).

I sadly watched long enough to see the twerking, too, and I'm pretty sure it was the same episode that this Donny character appeared in. Never again.

I take solace in the fact that when translated into minifigures, the original and reboot designs are close enough to pass as the same character. We can always pretend (with the exception of this one) that these figs are of the og's and that's good enough for me.

The only thing I understood in this was "Cartoon Network". Which in itself is enough for me to know that the source material would not be something I'd be interested in.
All I know is, this is not a minifig!

It’s all a long game to push the boundaries enough to get Huwbot’s own avatar included as a minifig, Clikit heart and all

How does it comply with the "at least 2 minifig parts" criteria?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Wasn't even aware they made Powerpuff Girls sets, even when in 2018 I had already awakened from my Dark Age.

Would have been totally fine if I had never known these existed.

It now means any character that can speak unless it is an animal, when it might or might not be a minifig.

If AI has been trained on content from the internet then all it’s going to do is troll and post cat videos

Cartoon Network is where The Clone Wars originated. They also play a LOT of anime.

I remember reading something where an AI system was installed, and it immediately started skewing even more towards garbage output than the human users, specifically because it learns from human users. GIGO means you need to curate the learning process or you’re just going to end up creating Skynet.

I used to watch CN many years ago when it was freely available. I think it's behind a paywall now. At least the TV channel it used to occupy has been reassigned ages ago.

No it's not, a minifigure uses minifigure parts I also think that big figs are minifigures. but using your logic where do we draw the line? Is 75371 a minifigure now?

Gravatar
By in United States,

How many times does the huwbot show us minifigures that don't count as minifigures?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The best thing about this "minifig" is that they didn't make new moulds for it *and* it's made of a bunch of small pieces, so you can either use the parts for something else and ignore Donny or cathartically blow him apart in play.

One of the worst characters in the show. I can only imagine he was included due to being *something* they could make with leftover parts budget and bump up the character roster but by the time the set was released the character and his horrifically bungled metaphor were already infamous in an already infamous reboot. Too bad the actual good exclusive minifigure in this set fetches fairly high prices.

New Zealand is an independent nation, just like any other country. We may be small but have sure made a big impact on the world.

As for the accent, they are both different. But people who try to mock our accent end up sounding like Aussies.

By in Canada,

*SIGH*...not weighing in on the "not a minifig" thing (although, it isn't:)); but rather...it's funny, I have two of the three P.P.G. character minifigs (Blossom and Bubbles), and the series wasn't 'horrible' compared to other reboots/relaunches (*), but it DID lack the heart of the original...not to mention 'logic gaps' (their phone was replaced with a smart-one, but they're still in kindergarten...which their class got move to a junior high school, not an elementary one for...reasons). Donny however, was a neat character; especially compared to say Bliss (Prof. Neutronium: "Yeah...before you were created, I created someone before you...which I just never talked about..."...?!?!?!:|)

*It should be noted though: as bad as the P.P.G. animated reboot was, we dodged a bullet that the live-action CW P.P.G. series; which had/has been filmed, got scrapped/shelved. And I mean it sounded BAAAAAAD, even compared to the CN reboot....:|

What I get from that is that you can switch between Aussie and Kiwi accents with a simple change of pitch.

@studless_terrain:
Sure it does. “Minifig” means “character”, but in a legally actionable way.

By in Spain,

When Lego celebrated 40 years of the minifigure.. why did they count from the pattent of what we all agree is a minifigure and not some previous character? It's so absurd so consider anything brickbuilt a minifigure.. cause it isn't even every brickbuilt character as buildable figures, for instance, are not listed as minifigures, me majestic tiger isn't either and.. a pretty long list of examples xD

Random Minifig of the Day draws from Bricklink's catalog listings, since LEGO.com doesn't catalog individual minifigs. Bricklink's catalog hierarchy predates their purchase by The LEGO Group, and has not been amended to fit official corporate policy. Without using Bricklink's catalog, RMotD wouldn't currently be possible.
