41044 Macaw's Fountain

Posted by ,

41044 Macaw's Fountain is the third of the Friends Animals series 5 sets. It's perhaps the least interesting because it features an animal that's been used before, albeit in a new colour and with a new print.

The bird's perch is unspectacular but the fountain is interesting, being constructed entirely upside down.

The perch features two of the 1x1x3 bricks which are new this year. I can see the logic having this part, it saves having to stack 1x1s squarely which is always a fiddly job.

The Macaw is a medium azure version of the bright light orange and lime green versions that have appeared in other Friends sets. The print is more extravagant and is a pretty good representation of a blue/yellow Macaw.

This set is perhaps not as interesting as the other two in series 5 because the animal mould is not new, but nevertheless I'm sure it will be just as popular as the others.

With the release of series 5, there are now 15 Animals sets and three more are on the way later in the year (seal, lion and panda). They are fun little sets and a great impulse buy. I hope they continue to be a success so we see many more in the coming years.

By in Canada,

This is the best LEGO Friends bird print so far... the vacant-looking eyes of the other two always bothered me, and it seems like that could have been fixed with just one more print color.

^ Much agree, I still can't understand Goldie's look, is there any technical problem? And this is the best Lego birdie print so far. Though real macaws still have green fur on their forehead, I don't ask too much.

The perch looks okay, It can be used to be a part of house or being in a MOC garden.

Where did my comment go? Okay, once again: this bird still has a canary-mold, not a parrot.

By in Australia,

I really like these little animal sets. Sure, the animals are mostly too stylised to fit nicely into Lego city, but eh. They're still cute.
