Random minifig of the day: ww012
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is ww012 Deputy (Zack), a Western figure that was first produced during 1996. It can be found in 6 sets.
Our members collectively own a total of 115,566 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $9.40.

Is Deputy Zack also a LEGO Maniac?
He was tired of living on an ice planet, so he transferred to the desert instead
You're my favorite deputy!
There's a snake in aboot!
Howdy! I'm a cowboy! Bang, Bang, shoot, bullet, Bullet, gun!
Question about the western theme: Is Sheriff Wild Wyatt West related to Secret Service agent James West, of the 1960's Wild Wild West TV show fame?*
*The 1990's movie does not exist, and nothing you can say can / will change this irrevocable fact.

TBH it hasn't changed much
A pretty decent figure for the day. Some nice printing on the torso.
RMotD from 18th May reincarnated!
Help! I can't see a thing. I need a damn haircut.

World War 12?
Must have come after: https://www.reddit.com/r/onejob/comments/zbjh6d/i_did_not_know_there_were_11_world_wars/
The vest fringes match his bangs.
Nice minifig, great torso. I have its head, having bought it so long ago from BrickLink. I instantly recognized the head, and now I know its cold origin.
It's funny that the Lone Ranger Lego sets are more fondly remembered than the actual movie itself. So many cool Native American and Cowboy minifig parts, and the most realistic Lego gun ever made.
Haha, the X-Treme Team discussion from a few days ago can continue :D
Deputy Zach was known as Deputy Danny in some European countries. Actually the name differences were odd for Western, since it probably was the first theme to have a minifig name directly printed on a part! (Flatfoot Thompson's Wanted poster 1x2 tile)
Deputy Danny was one of the main characters in the German audio drama tapes (I think he had the same voice actor as Will from Pirates). In one episode he was tricked into Jail by Dewey Cheatum/'Pokerface' Sam/Joe Williams who was impersonating a Cavalry General.
Another interesting aspect about him is his hat: The cowboy hat in white was absent for almost 20 years when this figure came out. There also was a keychain of him that erroneously used the by then more common brown hat instead (I guess it was only the re-issue ones, mostly sold at Legoland parks around 2002-2004).
One of my all time favourite minifigs, certainly have a lot of memories attached to him.

Without the 1990's movie, Kevin Smith's epic Superman Lives comedy bit does not exist.
This guy is a big part of the reason I want 6755.

That takes me back. You know you've been into Lego for a while if you get that reference without looking it up.

No, he's a previous life, or maybe an ancestor.

I suspect it was the other way around! Got fed up with patrolling the Mojave, and all that.
"Well, howdy, I'm a cowboy! Bang, bang, bang-bang-bang-bang! Shoot, shoot, shoot, bullet, bullet, gun! Zap, zap, zap, pow, zap, pow! What are they looking at?..."...Ah, "Emmet" before Emmet...:)
And @Harmonious_Building: Ironically, I just watched one of his videos as I pulled up this article...:)
Earlier this year I got two Western sets, one of which was Sherrif's Lock-Up. The Western theme is so cool, and one of the earlier ones with minifigures that clearly depict distinct characters that appear in multiple sets, instead of just generic mix-and-match figures. Dragon Masters did it before with Majisto, but here there's a clear cast of heroes and villains.
Unless you don't want them to be one of either of course.
This guy I always saw as the main character though. So cool to have one in the flesh now in all his colorful glory!
Wait a minute, this is just the guy from the 18th come back in different clothes! What are you trying to pull here, wise guy?
I shot the sheriff,
But I did not shoot no deputy, oh no...

I rather think Deputy Zack is an ancestor of Ice Planet guy. Frontier pushing runs in the family =D

And, just what- prey tell- do you think Western American is?
This guy! Was the one who I had the keychain of; that is, 3974.
I didn't intend to get the keychain of him; in fact, I didn't intend to get any Lego keychains at the time. But in summer 2004, there was one month where my issue of the Lego Club magazine didn't arrive. At the time this was a Big Deal™ for me, so my mum phoned up customer service to explain what had happened. Not only did they resend me the magazine (and accompanying Bionicle comic), but included this keychain in the package as well.
At first I wasn't sure if it was just a random free gift (although that only happened VERY rarely: an issue including 3219 mini TIE Fighter was the only time I knew of that a gift had been included), or if it was intended as kind of an apology gift for what had happened. It wasn't until the same thing happened again in 2006, and they included an Exo-Force keychain that time when they sent out the replacement, that I realised it must have been standard procedure to compensate for missing magazines back then.
In any case. I didn't have much attachment to the Western theme, since it predated my entry into the hobby - and I certainly didn't know that this guy had a name and a backstory - but it was still very neat to get him ^^

...I'm not sure what you're referencing, but I'm not a girl (nor a cow, for that matter!). I was quoting the original LEGO Movie. So thanks, but no thanks.
Good ol' Zack! I always love to see Western represented in RMOTD.
Great figure from a great set and theme
All of the western figs were just AWESOME. The bandit with the green jacket with the playing card suits on the vest and the gold tooth remains an underrated all-time great fig, I think.

It's the accent spoken to the west of Valley Girl, of course.
I wonder, if there'll ever be another Wild West theme in my life.

Maybe as GWP? Western should have had the same runtime as castle, space or pirates, imo, not just 3 years.

Isn't Valley girl supposed to be southern California? You get farther west of that, and your in water, Or were you referring to some Pacific Islander accent?

It’s named after the San Fernando Valley, and originated in the LA area. To the west would, of course, be where you’d find surfer speak.

You mean some far away, made-up land across the wide western sea? We should come up with a funky name for it. Like... West Caledonia... or, South Tomorrowland, or.... I know... how about New Zealand?
No one will ever believe that's a real place. ;)

Dude! You need to get off our speech beach. This is reserved for the Bayside Boys.

There are six US state capitals located to the west of the San Fernando Valley.
And you can drive to five of them.
Where I live (well over a hundred miles west of LA—not sure exactly how many because of longitude distortion), people speak a fairly vanilla General American accent, although I have been trying very hard to eradicate the foul cot-caught and merry-marry mergers from my family, which are properly distinguished in the eastern reaches of our fair land.
