Random minifig of the day: idea024

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is idea024 Dalek, a LEGO Ideas figure that came in one set, 21304 Doctor Who, released during 2015.

Our members collectively own a total of 28,196 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $10.80.

Any chance of us getting a traditional minifigure was just exterminated.

EXTERMINATE THE SOUFFLES

I'm surprised that I know enough about Doctor Who to make that reference

Gravatar
By in United States,

My brother thinks these murder machines are cute. Do what you will.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm a bit confused about what this is. I think I better ask my nerd friends.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I feel like it should be holding a miniature brick separator.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'm going to tell my kids this is a Destroyer Droid from Star Wars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

We really, really need a Davros (the Dalek creator) to go with this guy. That, and a heavy weapons Dalek, Emperor Dalek, Imperial dalek, WWII 'Ironsides' Dalek, rouge Dalek, time war Dalek, the cult of Skaro members in all forms, Oswin Oswald Dalek, Dalek / human hybrids, undead Dalek / human hybrids, the entire Dalek parliament, the new paradigm Daleks, Rusty the good Dalek, a Dalek mutant without his shell, the Kaled and Thal races, and the planet Skaro itself.

Did I miss any of them?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

And this is how I found out that the Dalek from 71283 is not counted as a minifigure. Probably because it is a 'vehicle' for Lego Dimensions. It is also a bit bulkier than this one. Still very cool though.

Don't listen to the Joker; they're not "British robots." They're not little green men, either; they're little green blobs in bonded polycarbide armor.

Does the Rouge Dalek go around wearing rouge, or applying it to any humans it catches. "Cosmeticate. COSMETICATE!"

I would buy a UCS Dalek.

Exterminate yourself! you aren't a minifigure!

Of the thousands of REAL minifigures around, how do brick-built ones so commonly get chosen?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Old ideas sets were something else, in the best way possible. The new ones are great too, but I love the early ones where they just trying to figure out what would stick and how to make it all work, so cool to look at as a historical moment in time in the Lego company’s history!

Don't say "Shoot" around a Dalek; they'll be more than happy to take you up on that.

Eh, depends on how you’re defining ‘common’. Over the last month we’ve only had two, this guy and Plankton from the 25th. I personally wouldn’t describe 2 out of 30 as particularly common myself, but I guess if you didn’t want to see them at all you might still consider that too many

It’s the “vehicle” for that pack. Cyberman gets a minifig puck, Dalek gets an accessory puck that you have to encode with which of three builds you’re using.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I do love me a LEGO Dalek! I have 6 of these, and a dozen of the ones that came in the 71238-1 Pack.
Not to mention several hundred non-LEGO ones, toys of various sizes going back to the 60s!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set is one of my all-time regrets that I didn't buy and haven't remedied the error.

It's like that hot, fantastic, hyper-intelligent, but yet still, a silly nerdy, English chick that you really regret not doing some more serious with.

See ya, Space Cowboy....

Back atcha, Slick!

As much as we love Han and Kirk, they will never hold a candle to the coolness of Spike.

Pyro Daleks from The Dalek's Master Plan, Suicide Daleks from Destiny of the Daleks, Transparent Dalek from Revelation of the Daleks, Time-Controller Dalek, and Peter Cushing movie Daleks?

We NEED Cowboy Bebop Lego! Come on Lego, just do it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I loved the Doctor Who set this Dalek came in. Was so disappointed that it didn’t end up being its own theme. I still hold out hope that one day we will get a Doctor Who Lego theme. Hopefully Disney influence could make that more likely in the near future.

Purely because I happened to find myself bored enough for long enough, I went back and checked even more of the Random Minifigs: of the most recent 100 entries, only 4 of them have been brick-built. Not a percentage I’d consider common, I suspect they’re just remembered more due to people getting annoyed by them in the comments

Would the brickbuilt Daleks from TLBM count as a different type? If you were to replicate that design, they’d be bigger than the 2-story Ideas TARDIS. Anyways, totally non-canon, but I’ve got Christmas Daleks that I put out at shows in November/December. One red, one green, both with white trim.

Based on what I know of those various characters, Kosh could wipe the floor with all of them at the same time. Would he, though? Depends on which Kosh you’re talking about. Brown Kosh? Maybe not. Purple Kosh? Abso-fraggin-lutely, to quote another B5 character.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Calling this a "minifig" is definitely pushing it... ;)
Only thing I'd really criticise is that the top dome is too thin and the dome lights should be brick-built and not simply printed on, but I guess it's nigh-on impossible at this scale.
I have the set it comes in, got the little TARDIS right next to my PC monitor.
Really wish this would have kickstarted a proper Doctor Who theme. A "UCS" TARDIS or Dalek would have been fantastic.
Though who knows, given LEGO's and Disney's collaborations, and DW now being basically a Disney+ show, we might get something... one can only hope.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For the small size it's quite a good likeness while still including the 3 sink plungers even if there are no minifig parts, although I remember Davros in the 80's converting humans into Daleks so maybe that is why they have appeared today but probably too dark to discuss more.

Meanwhile, the 4 'human like' minifigs in the Dr Who set are really cool, although strange the included weeping angel and 11th Doctor do not appear on the box art?
