By in New Zealand,

Odd inclusion of a pilot, don't you think?

Anyway, I would love to see a remake of this set, to go up against 75320, which itself was a remake.

This could be possible, seeing as 75372 exists.

By in United States,

I got the instructions for this in a bulk lot, but no pieces.

By in United Kingdom,

I’ve kept finding this set in second-hand bundles for many years, always with every figure removed except the very out-of-place pilot Zev Senesca. I’ve got like five of the guy but none of the actual troopers

Also rather funny editing error in this photo where the brick beneath the seat has been unintentionally cropped out, making it appear to float

Is that a speeder or a turret?

It’s an ice cutter actually. It’s only briefly seen in Empire, but did appear in some promotional photos.

Also, this was my first LEGO Star Wars set, and although I don’t really collect the theme now, it’s still got a bit of sentimental value.

I always thought the hover tank thing looked like a big weird shoe, but looking at it again it looks vaguely like the basic layout of an AAT with blockier proportions. Strange. I'm assuming it's an original craft like a good number of battle pack vehicles were in the day, but feel free to correct me if this is based on something that showed up in Empire at War or some other lesser-known PC game.

"Remind me again why I have to walk?"
"Pilots fly. This is a ground vehicle."

I mean, the troopers were supposed to be covering the pilots and other evacuees as they escaped, so Zev’s presence isn’t entirely without reason?

The moment I finally spotted a Laser Ice Cutter in the background of The Empire Strikes Back during the Battle of Hoth was fun. It is a blink and you miss it vehicle! https://youtu.be/pa3vDAB47f4?si=5H16N129wAxDc63E

Empire has a few hidden vehicles though, the Starspeeder 3000 from the Disney rides was added to Cloud City in the 1990's Special Edition, making it like the Laser Ice Cutter another white slab hidden in the film.

By in United States,

There are pilots in the escape scene of Hoth. I don’t understand the confusion here of a pilot being included in a set about the escape from Hoth.

By in Turkey,

I'm not into army building, maybe that's the reason it looks like a bland set to me.

By in Canada,

Umm...why is the PILOT not FLYING the turret-speeder...thing? I mean, wouldn't he be more qualified?

By in Netherlands,

I should have this somewhere

Greedflation.

This set is 14 years old. Yet, the build and minifig quality are up to par or better than what SW Lego produces today.

IT'S THE DEATH ZAMBONI!

By in Spain,

I want those prices come back again!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Even if it is for a machine that barely appears and possibly doesn’t look like that, this is a neat little mini-tank that looks good and is a fun addition to troops in between infantry and bigger walkers

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I have the Snowtrooper counterpart to this one and that AT-AT. Later ones might be more detailed, but this is my kind of Hoth. Never got this one, sadly.

That this is actually a canon vehicle is one of my favourite bits of Lego Star Wars trivia

Rebel Zamboni"

I was searching for that word. I knew it began with a Z and was about to resort to Google.

Now might be a good opportunity to look back at an article published in 2021, showing that a surprising number of Battle Pack vehicles are based on something, even if that something is fairly obscure, as in the case of the cannon sled: https://brickset.com/article/65338

I found some of these minifigures - but not the rest of the set - in the lot I got for its partially-complete 5988 a couple of years ago now: the pilot and one of the troopers were complete, while the other trooper was missing his backpack and head, but had the officer's head instead.

Wasn't the only SW battle pack that had made its way partially into that lot; it also included all the droids (minus one set of legs) from 8015, although again none of the model itself. Plus two each of close-to-complete 7667 and 7668. All cool finds, but none of them were ones that I had interest in keeping, so they were some of the ones I sold on eBay to help make back the cost of the lot ^^

A canon cannon sled!

It's not stated outright, it is more or less a generic print for the face and torso, even Brickset just has him as a Hoth Officer, but this is Star Wars, if you've got sweet facial hair, you have power, whether LEGO says so or not."

I was wondering about that. Now I am wondering how many minifigures he has. There’s this one, Ham from Toy Story, Mac from cars (does that count as a minifigure?), and the Underminer. Any others?

@Librarian1976: If you look at the entry for 8486 , Lightning McQueen is the only minifigure listed.

I always loved the inclusion of this obscure background vehicle!

Gravatar
By in United States,

One of my first few Star Wars sets. I got this at barbed and noble back in the day and I always thought it was a weird but cool build. I liked the really large brick in a relatively small build and I liked the crate underneath the turret and that it could be removed

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This was the only battle pack I ever had multiples of, and I also had the Wampa cave set, so I wound up with more Zev Senescas than anyone could conceivably need. At least if they'd given this pilot a different helmet, even just the blue starbird, he could have been Zev's missing gunner.

By in United Kingdom,

Why does the seat appear to be attached to the rest of the build only by the gunners backside?

The editing software had gone a bit overboard with deleting the background, I'll bet!
