By in New Zealand,

He's eyeing up the teacher to eat!

And Lionel Lion got his classroom up-graded two years later: 3647. Thankfully nobody had been eaten by that stage.

Gotta get them psychopaths educated early on in life and brainwash them before they start to have doubts about their morality.

By in New Zealand,

Is this the first fully furry school?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huh, I had no idea Fabuland had alligators; I thought the line mostly limited itself to furry animals, although I knew there was a walrus in there.

Newflash, a Walrus is a mammal, and technically does have fur.

By in Canada,

So this is the place where young fabuland citizens learn to be engineers to invent new weapons and vehicles for the chi war

By in United States,

Because of the Chima/Fabuland/Animal Crossing theory, it feels like a great time to mention that I got a copy of 70009 today and built it! It's officially my first-ever Legends of Chima set (Yay, I'm no longer a hypocrite), and... not actually the first set I've built after its retirement date.
That honor would technically go to 75198, which I bought and built on my 15th birthday in 2021.

No, there's clearly no litter boxes in the hallway

By in United States,

Ah, smart. Putting the tasty rabbit _behind_ the croc means the croc really has to work for his meal, if he doesn't want it getting away.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Best FL set ever!

I remember being the croc. My senior year of high school. My English teacher moved me to the very front of the room.

By in Australia,

A classroom with two alpha predators ... and a bunny rabbit.

Most classes, the worst thing that might happen is getting an F. Here, poor Bonnie is going to be lucky to make it out of the classroom in one piece.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I find it funny how LEGO basically did Animal Crossing before Animal Crossing, and now there is official LEGO Animal Crossing.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Oh boy, what a great figure set. I would love to have this now. I regret not getting any Fabu sets when I had the chance.

You enjoy Chima averagely but you haven't bought a set until now?

@Maxbricks14: Well, Richard Scarry's "Busytown" existed in 1963; so you could assume a school was 'there' before that...dunno...Looney Tunes and Dismal cartoons I guess, as to Lego...I guess it's the first.

Too bad Lego never did an Richard Scarry theme, would have been so cool! Kinda like Fabuland but less dark and with even cooler vehicles!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Ah the nostalgia. One of the very first sets my parents bought for me. :)

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

My wife still has this set from her childhood!

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO should be selling Fabuland sets again. …As fun retro rereleases.

Gravatar

Communist indoctrination XD

Fabuland: A socialist paradise where all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@WizardofOss I love the Richard Scarry books!

Yeah a Lego theme of his books would've been awesome. And I agree about the vehicles!

It is said that the predator animals of Fabuland can live on the dew of a single ginkgo leaf and the energy of the universe…

Same here, loved those books as a kid. And while some things from your childhood don't hold up over the decades, these books still do. And gave a few of those books to my nephews and niece, and they also loved it! Even when some things are outdated (and already were back in the 80s), the appeal is still timeless.

And to tie it all back to the Fabuland set: What do we see on the cover of Cars & Trucks & Things That Go? Indeed, a bunny driving a crocodile-turned-into-car! Now we know what the curriculum of that classroom was....

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Crocodile in school brings me some memories of 'Garbage Pail Kids'

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think Bonnie Bunny will be fine with all these carnivores. Anybody remember the Killer Rabbit from Monty Python's Holy Grail? That was her mother, and it seems these things can run in families...

In fact, I fear for everyone else's safety. RUN AWAAY!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now that looks like a $170 set!

I didn't have an allowance when I was a kid
And I haven't been legally able to buy things online until just this year

The wait was so worth it though.

I'm aware that a walrus is a mammal, and isn't it more hair than fur?

@WizardOfOss said:"Too bad Lego never did an Richard Scarry theme, would have been so cool! Kinda like Fabuland but less dark and with even cooler vehicles!"

"Less dark?" You do realize Fabuland being dark is only due to people coming along years after the fact and deciding that there must be a seedy underbelly, right? I'm not even talking about Chima; Fabuland Housewives was a thing long before Chima was even a glimmer in Lego's eye.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hey, I'm very much from the Fabuland generation, but just going with the joke. And while the Fabuland cars were cool, there's no denying any vehicle designed by Richard Scarry is on an entirely different level, right?

Gravatar

Ah yes, Animal Crossing Classic

There is no space in the baseplate for the blackboard?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everyone's mentioning violence, and I'm just wondering where the 'room' is. No walls to make a 'room'.

Yes it’s on there. 16x8 stud baseplate.

My sister still has this intact, including the blackboard sticker which is amazingly still attached to those bricks.

That's what they teach in school bright and early Monday morning, anyway. It keeps the rabbits off-guard until lunch time.

At lunch time, they have a hands-on ecology lesson. Then after lunch, they explain how nutrition really works.

Gracious, who did you try to eat in high school? Did the cafeteria at least serve fava beans?

Animal Crossing, Fabuland, Sylvanian Families, Maple Town, Busytown, The Wind In The Willows... All variations on a theme, that literally can be traced all the way back to the earliest human civilizations. I wonder if they teach that in Fabuland...?

D for Dinner. C for Cuisine.
