Garmadon was easily the best Ninjago villain ever, no doubt. And i'm glad he stayed on for multiple seasons, instead of just being forgotten after 1.

Also, I own that figure in 2505, but not this set.

Got 'im...set too. Ninjago's truly a testament to: Character Creation, Story Development, and World Building. It's the reason it beat the "three years and done" rule of most toy lines and cartoons.

QUICK LORE!!!

The First Spinjitzu Master had two kids, Garmadon and Wu!

When they were little Garmadon was bitten by a cursed snake, infecting him with the Overlord's evil essence!

When FSM died Garmadon went mad and tried to take his father's Golden Weapons to conquer Ninjago, Wu beat him and banished him to the Underworld!

Thanks to his son working with the good guys and the Overlord's curse coming and going, antics ensue.

QUICK LORE!!!

Another one I'd completely forgotten that I owned until I moused over the set number. In fact, this is the only Garmadon I own that isn't from TLNM. Side note: My spellcheck suggested replacing "Garmadon" with "Armageddon." He just wants to conquer, not destroy!

"Odd they made a spinner for him. I never remember him doing Spinjitzu."

The fact that Garmadon definitely learned Spinjitzu aside, they fell into the same trap that Bionicle did. With the year of Bionicle, the toys were designed to fight each other, but not their opponents. Toa were designed to fight Toa, Turaga against Turaga, Matoran against Matoran, and each species of Rahi was designed to fight itself.

With spinners, the toy was almost certainly inspired by the “Spinjitzu” martial art, but the first wave of sets pits them against the Skulkin. Skulkin didn’t know Spinjitzu, but how do you make spinners work when only one side knows the skill they represent? Well, you just ignore that little issue, market them anyways, and collect the money. Besides, the way spinners work, the better weapon probably causes you to lose more than win.

Yes, this seems the most likely answer.

Two-armed Garmadon definitely looks off, like someone’s cosplaying him

No idea how or when I got this one, but I certainly got it!

I always forget that Garmadon can do Spinjitsu, I think he only did it once in season one, when Wu freed him from the dark dimension or whatever it was called.

I'm now thinking / singing of his sword and silver helmet like the spear and Magic helmet from 'What's Opera Doc?'. I can just imagine Bugs Bunny having fun messing with ol' Garmadon, whereas the ninja would wipe the floor with Elmer Fudd.

He also did it in one of the pilot shorts - the one where he beats up Samukai - and in season 10, when they were doing the Tornado Of Creation.

By in Germany,

What exactly were those 1x2 bricks and 2x2 plate intended for that seem to be included in every spinner set?

Is it some sort of counter weight or has it something to do with the cards?

By in Canada,

@Atuin: Memory serves, they were to be used to make a card-holder/prop (plate being the base, and two brick stacked upon it to form 'the spine')...otherwise...spare parts for your collection:)

@PurpleDave: What's funnier is: Nya had TWO spinners (normal form 'at the time', and her later 'hero identity')...and she didn't start learning Spinjitsu 'til what, season 4...5? (plus, her card clearly depicts her as a fire elemental like Kai...whoops:))

No, they were pieces used for battles that used the card game system; some cards had you build onto your spinner using those parts.

They were intended for both uses. They could be used to display character cards like @brick_r suggests, in addition to being attached to the spinner as specified on some of the game cards. I don't believe the 2x2 plate was used for gameplay, just to build the card stand. The 1x2 bricks, on the other hand, were used either to construct walls on top of the spinner or were placed between the main body and boat stud to increase the spinner's height.

Fire water!!!!!!! Wait, that’s probably against some rule, isn’t it?

By in Canada,

@PurpleDave : Weeeeell...there's the pesky TLG rule about depicting alcohol...uuuuunless: Fun fact: physics 'state of being' updated ruled applied to water: Super-Solid (Ice), Solid (Still Ice), Semi-Solid ("Slush"...I guess:)), Liquid (Water, natch:)), Gas (Steam/Water Vapor), Energy/Plasma (well...Plasma, duh:))...soooo; you CAN get 'fire' from 'water', BUT you have to add quite a bit of energy/heat to make it happen...:D
