Great Western Brick Show, Swindon, 5-6 October
Posted by Huw,
The longest-running LEGO show in the UK takes place again this year during the first weekend of October at the STEAM museum in Swindon. It's the 21st edition of the event, which has become one of the biggest and best in the UK.
Tickets are available online that include admission to the show and the museum of the Great Western Railway at which it is held. Queues to buy tickets on the day can be lengthy, so I advise buying in advance.
I will be there again this year contributing to the Great Ball Contraption loop and will have a limited number of 1x8 Brickset bricks to give away to Brickset users who come and say hello, so I hope to see you there!
Find out more at the event's website and after the break.
The Great Western Brick Show returns on Saturday 5th October and Sunday 6th October 2024.
There will be plenty to see and do, making it a brilliant day out for all the family:
- Incredible models and inventions built by LEGO fans such as railway layouts, buildings, space craft, cars, trucks, aircraft and much more
- Interactive Building – help create an all-new giant LEGO mosaic from over 100,000 bricks!
- LEGO marketplace offering the latest sets as well as some rare and collectable gems.
- LEGO and Duplo brick pits tables for children
- Robot Battles
Plus, discover our award-winning museum displays and exhibits telling the remarkable story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway.
Additionally, there's a competition open to schools 'to build a railway bridge of the future to help fight climate change.'. Find out more here.

Woah, never heard of this before! Will have to try and go.
Wait, what do they mean by robot battles?

Ah I getcha, thanks.
Always a fantastic time! As a local I regularly go.
My wife was lucky enough to go to the LIT in Billund last week and Stuart Harris told her that he is coming to Swindon for this show so there might be an opportunity for people to meet him!
Wait, when did those bendy-armed monsters get a top hat?

1978. Do keep up!
Stuart Harris will be involved in the schools competition at the least. Simon Scott will also be doing a signing of The Nightmare Before Christmas (although it is an Exclusive retail set so bring your own to get it signed) and he usually has his original model for it along.
I'm going for the first time this year. I'm very much looking forward to it.

Only in one set, first time I'd seen it as well. And understandably not cheap!
I've supported this show for many years, but sadly it just feels like it's getting a bit expensive, what with driving to Swindon, parking, food, and £40 for a family of 2+1 I don't know, it's always been a good show, but the actual train museum never changes any of their exhibits in 10 years, so I don't feel we get anything out of that. mornings are crazy busy, usually ok towards the end of the day, but then the exhibitors are less keen to talk as they are tired.

I'll be there exhibiting (and taking part in the robot battles!) and I'm always happy to chat, at any time of the day :)
@Paperballpark @Huw
Is there any kind of schedule as to what is on and when?
For example are the robot battles on throughout the day or at a specfic time, are they on both days, that sort of thing?
Thanks :)
