I've never seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, but given how popular it was, I have no idea why LEGO didn't extend the theme or even try to reboot it!

You aren't in Kansas anymore. This is Pandora. If there is a Hell... you might wanna go there for some R&R.

By in New Zealand,

Fun fact: In the clone wars, there is a clone named Appo. He has an arrow in the same place as Aang and the creature Appa (Although on his helmet) Dave Filoni included this reference because he worked on 9 episodes of Avatar.

Although the show was popular, the sets sold poorly.

Then, everything changed when the licensed figures attacked.

Oh wait, wrong anime?

yip yip!

We recently finished watching Avatar with our children, 7 and 8. They loved it. So did my better half. I was obviously a fan already. :) We are now reading through the sequel comics and then diving into Korra.

Please make more (better) sets. Thank you!

I would love to see them revisit the theme with modern parts and techniques. It does hurt a bit that they lost out to Spongebob of all themes.

I've always felt like the timing on Lego ATLA was too soon; the theme came out during early season 2, and I don't feel like ATLA truly peaked in popularity until a little later on. It also did not help that the 2 sets looked very basic.

Nope. He can just go right in the gecko's attic and stay there.

I'd still love to see modern Lego take another crack at this theme—now that both set design and minifig design alike have progressed so far, and the show has become something of a classic. I doubt it'll happen, though...

By in Poland,

I anyone's wondering how modern minifigure versions of AtLA characters would look like, their Lego Fortnite skins give us a good idea. They're pretty well made, too bad they most likely will never be released in plastic...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ah yes another theme which Lego only released in the USA, because no one else in the world likes Avatar :)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Another line with unusual minifig eyes.

Before came:
Western, Time Cruisers, Island (XTreme Stunts), Harry Potter (2001-2007)

After it came:
Exo-Force, Clone Wars

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was always bummed by how much they seemed to drop the ball with this theme. Avatar was so cool, and but they didn't even give us Appa or Iroh!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This show definitely needs more sets. If at the very least to round out the main cast in minifigure form.

I still have this set in the box. I was at a Walmart with my 10-year old son when we saw it on clearance. He begged me to buy it, so I thought what the heck? I don’t remember why we didn’t open it up. Aang still sitting, entombed in his plastic and cardboard shell in my basement to this day.

yeah, i was big into both ATLA and LEGO as a kid at the time but the ATLA sets were both too pricey and kinda bad

By in United Kingdom,

While the torso is a bit bland compared to other licensed minis it’s not like Aang and his minimalist ways actually has too much detail to capture in the first place.
And that head is absolutely spot on

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That's quite surprising, a Kiran Badloe figure released 15 years before he won Olympic gold!

God, I wish I could be as happy in life as this minifigs face print.

"Fun fact: AtLA is the smallest series Lego ever produced, with only two sets."

That’s debatable, depending on how you define “series”. TRON: Legacy still only has the one Ideas set. And Dune only has the ornithopter.

Don't forget Legend of Zelda only has one as well.

The word "Series" implies at least two items to be put in, well, series, so I suppose by definition the smallest possible series is two sets?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Agree with that definition. Or there should at least have been more sets announced, which for whatever reason got cancelled before release. But that's already very much a grey area....

It does make me wonder though: There sure must have been more series of just two sets? I just can't think of any.....

And PAC-MAN, and Atari, and probably a majority of IDEAS one-offs...

Edit: ... and, debatably, Dimensions one offs (Portal, midway, etc)...

Ok then: the LEGO Universe sets consisted entirely of two tiny polybags (a fig and a modular rocket). Much less parts usage than the two ATLA sets!

I am going to allow that. What’s more, BL lists Horizon (1 set) as a stand-alone theme. And LEGO Club (two sets, each consisting of a different Max minifig) is listed as another standalone theme.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well, they tried.

Not very hard though.

Horizon must be the smallest Lego theme to get a LEGO video game. (One is coming, if rumors are to believed.)

That's James Cameron "Abadah" , in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger , not to be confused with ABBA :)

"Theme != series"

You are, of course, correct. Series is strictly CMFs, and Avatar didn’t get any of those. Avatar != series. This would all have gone much easier if you’d just said what you meant instead of arguing what you said.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Looks like someone found the sundae bar...:)

Also @TeriXeri:...Weird, I read "Abadah" w/a Schwarzenegger-like voice in-my-head before you mentioned him...now I can't get 'him' out...:)

Last: It's funny, Cameron said he was unware of the cartoon...yet each of his 'tribes' seem to be based around 'elements' (air, water, and so on)...supposedly, the next movie's 'tribe' is supposedly going to be (1) evil (yea:)), and (2) based around fire...folks from 'Nick' really ought to talk to somebody in legal...
