But I haven't won the lottery yet.

By in United Kingdom,

Already ordered.

In and out within 2 mins, that is a record.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I splashed out on my VIP points (which I rarely redeem) to reduce the price of the Sail Barge to a more tolerable amount. Can confirm everything ran smoothly around midnight in the UK and the Sail Barge qualifies for the Lightsaber, Brite Bomber (for now) and the Pumpkin all at once.

Lightsaber was already pretty much sold out at the Certified Lego stores online here within 30 minutes. And they say there is a cost of living crisis :/

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Still available after 3 hours..... officially a shelf-warmer then!!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

No thanks. I just spent $150 today on Lego so i'll pass.

But it's still a very cool set. I would get it if I could afford it.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

I've just about managed to talk myself into gettting it - as long as the three freebies are still available when I go to the store at lunchtime. I'll probably use £200 of VIP points to soften the blow and sell the both this lightsaber and the previous one to justify the purchase further.

The link still works but it is now a back order and will ship in 60 days. I am glad I managed to order it in time.

I believe dancoons was referring to the U.S. site. The product listing disappeared for me too, but everything was live at the correct time. I just ordered mine with all three GWPs!

The default for a new backorder is 60 days... that should update once a realistic time is calculated.

I note that TLG's e-mail announcing the set has the audacity to announce 'Don't forget the Sarlacc' and explaining that you can build (and buy!) the new Sarlacc Pit set whilst waiting for the barge to ship.

Now that IS taking the p*ss........(IMHO)

Going by how many here are proudly announcing that they bought the set regardless just goes to show that LEGO still has enough potential to up the price and lower the value even more. Star Wars ultrafans are just too predictable it seems.
Seriously, why even protest about the price in the first place when you (not YOU in particular, just a general "you" as in those who bought this) then still sit around at midnight on launch day gnawing at your fingernails for fear of missing out if you don't get your order confirmation within five seconds?

It depends if you were protesting about the cost I wasn’t and was always going to order on launch, I collect what I like and for me purchasing on launch day is part of my experience, the additional GWPs and a decent chunk of insiders point which many don’t take into account anymore have potentially ( going by EBay) offset the initial cost conservatively by £120 so 25% in freebies, not too shoddy.

If there was no GWP then the set wouldn't have been bought. I didn't buy the Razor Crest on release because there was no GWP, and then the Venator last year didn't have a brick-built GWP either.

Perhaps Lego have learnt that UCS sales are down with no GWP?

Essentially I never buy SW sets from Lego direct unless there is a GWP, because the sets regularly get a 20% minimum discount at other retailers.

No. It was the droideka, Jedi Bob and 3 D&D CMFs. (The $150 is in NZD)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The design of this never appealed to me in the same way the Falcon or AT-AT did but I hope it does well enough to open the doors to a new Jabba’s Palace - even one of the diorama sets would be nice.

did you know that the following is an actual piece of dialogue between Han and Luke from the 2008 Star Wars novel "Luke Skywalker & The Shadows of Mindor"?

Han: "So, are you gonna explain this whole "Emperor Skywalker" business?"

Luke: "No… no I don't think I will.“

I thought it was funny how Endgame unintentionally mirrored that scene.

Sales of the Sail Barge driven by Lightsaber FOMO

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Sarlaac scene is one of my favorite scenes in film history, so this set will always have a place in my heart. And Luke's green lightsaber from that same scene has been my favorite lightsaber since it first appeared. (I literally shouted in the theater, "It's a green lightsaber! It's a green lightsaber!"

The Lego set is massive, but I look forward to displaying this next to the Lego Titanic someday.

While I agree that GWPs can soften the blow, Insider points take off 5%, and only when using them to buy even more sets at RRP that are cheaper elsewhere. So in effect you are still overpaying by quite a bit.
But hey, if you feel like you are getting your money's worth with this set plus the associated GWPs then good for you. Enjoy the set.

You'll probably get another chance next year. Going off of how LEGO tends to handle GWP's nowadays. They did the same thing with the AT-AT, and most other GWP's get another run later in the year (except for seasonals).

Not sure when it happened, but it looks like the lightsaber GWP is now sold out in the U.S.

You're star wars and space sets might accuse you of cheating.
Now serieus it's a nice fig but less of an army builder.
How will you use them? New alien race?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@watcher21:
No. As Mindflayers. I kinda want to build them a Nautiloid, which is _kinda_ Space, and kinda not.

And they are absolutely armybuilders. It’s just that if the players end up facing an army of them, they are sca-rewed.

So I managed to order this with the 3 GWP’s at pretty much dead on midnight 3rd October. I must be one of the earliest orders yet I’ve received an email apologising for a delay in shipment over the weekend. And now 4 days later it’s still showing ‘in warehouse’.
Finding this very unusual.
Has anyone received theirs yet?
