That's a funny way of saying involuntary confinement.

To be fair, she did do some very creative stuff in that tower.

If by "Disney" you mean the theme, then yes, as this is the first year it's been eligible. There have been some Toy Story RSotDs, however.

Yes, I was meaning the theme itself, which started in 2014, the year this set was released.

Welcome to the princesses.

Pascal is awesome. This model is pushing its luck.

@TheOtherMike:
Toy Story is Pixar. Disney was just the distributor. Even now that they own Pixar, it's really no different than Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or Marvel. And yet somehow Pixar always keeps getting treated like it's just Disney Studios putting a different brand name on their product.

By in Turkey,

I got this for my daughter back in 2014. She loved it but as she grew her interests have shifted. I don't mind though, I lost a building friend but gained many sets.

@PurpleDave: Yeah, you're right. As much as I love Pixar, I should have remembered that detail.

If a Lego Rapunzel was asked to "let down your hair" do you think she'd just dump a bunch of wig pieces on whoever was down there?

By in Netherlands,

I like the purple roof part. That said, the newer version improved on this in every way, and that had nothing to do with new parts. A secret entrance, more to do, a 'hair' zipline...

I guess that this was decent for a first attempt.

By in Germany,

This is the version we have, since our older daughter was about six at the time and in her biggest LEGO Friends / Disney phase.
By now of course she has lost all interest in the subject, so I dismantled all the sets and put them into storage for a time when maybe her own kids one day will be into LEGO.

I kind of wish I was locked away in a tower, I've been dropping the ball creatively for awhile now.

Seven AM,
The usual morning line-up
Start on the chores and sweep 'til the floor's all clean
Polish and wax,
Do laundry and mopping, shine up
Sweep again
And by then
It's like 7:15...

Still forever wondering how she got *all that* done in just fifteen minutes...!

(Also, I see a slightly missed opportunity to include accessories representing literally everything she mentioned in that song! A few of them seem to be acknowledged, which is neat; I see a book (but not two or three), as well as accessories for painting, cooking, baking, and brushing hair. But that still leaves out the potential for guitar, knitting, puzzles, darts, paper-mache, ballet, chess, pottery, ventriloquy, candle-making, and sewing a dress...!)

In comparing pictures of them... on the whole, I think I like the look of the 2020 version of the tower better, the extra height in particular really benefits it to capture the feel of the location in the movie and in my view the mini-doll designs improve on the ones in today's set; but the latest version does get bonus points of its own for being the first version to have the tower windows be brick-built instead of printed or stickered, and for being the only one so far to include such a significant character as Gothel!

Your ‘sister’ got this one? It’s OK, WolfpackBricksStudios, you can admit your love for Disney LEGO. We won’t judge you (much) :~P

She lived in a dorm single, had no TV/internet/phone, couldn’t go anywhere, and even admitted doing the same chores more than once in a day.

Besides, she never said she did a good job of cleaning the place…

Sounds like a good way to loose you mind! That, and it reminds me a bit of the COVID lockdowns....

By in Spain,

My daughter still has it displayed in her room. Now he is 18 years old. Adorable.

Wouldn’t know. I cancelled all of my vacation time and drove to work every day except the two times I had to quarantine.

You're luck you were able to do that! I had just moved out of my parents a week or two before it all went to hell. So yeah, I learned quick how to do things myself. I relate to Rapunzel in her confinement, as I didn't have much contact with anyone during that time. Doordash / Walmart delivery and one or two phone calls a day to my parents were it. I watched everything I could find on Disney+ and rewatched a lot of Netflix / Amazon Prime shows from my youth.

"Ah I don't like that 'p'-word"
"Sorry, how's your daughter doing in her involuntary confinement creativity boosting tower?"

By in United States,

I bought multiples of this for my daughter to build a larger/taller tower. Those were good memories. Sad when they outgrow the brick.

@Murdoch17:
To a degree, yes. I didn’t have to worry about a paycheck, for one thing. Food was a different issue. I’d just taken a week off work and opened the door at the end to find we were in the apocalypse. And all the grocery stores had been wiped out while I had been intentionally running down my pantry. That first week, it took me the whole week to get enough food to last another week. I had to buy circular chicken patties. I started work before any stores opened in the morning, and people who didn’t have anything else to do would hoover up any new shipments before I got done for the day. And after a day of work and 2-3 hours trying to find something palatable, all I wanted to do was relax at home and watch some TV…except Hollywood had ground to a halt and wouldn’t really produce much for the next year.

I’m also used to doing around 15 public displays each year with my club, and between the first weekend of March 2020 and mid-June 2021, the Henry Ford Museum was the only event that didn’t outright cancel on us (they were hemorrhaging money and couldn’t afford to stay closed by the end of 2020, but the place was like a ghost town when we’d stop by to cover the layout).

Meanwhile, I had a couple of kids in their mid-70’s living in the next town over. One was afraid to open the door long enough to grab the mail out of the mailbox, and the other was angrily resentful of being told he couldn’t go anywhere or do anything (not that he could have found anyplace that was even open).

And I did have to quarantine, twice, including the week of Thanksgiving. At least the week I took off before the lockdown, I could lie to myself about how I was going to go out and get some stuff done the next day. That doesn’t work when you’re not even allowed to go grocery shopping.
