Available at LEGO.com from 1st March
The LEGO Group and Van Gogh Museum Unveil Stunning Van Gogh-Inspired Sunflowers LEGO Set: A Masterpiece in LEGO Bricks
The LEGO Group today unveils the LEGO Art Vincent van Gogh - Sunflowers set. Created in close collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the brick-built painting captures the iconic brushstrokes of Van Gogh’s masterpiece.
The 2615-piece set enables fans to immerse themselves in Van Gogh’s art and to learn more about the inspiration behind one of his most beloved paintings: Sunflowers (1889). The set has been carefully designed to create a 3-D brick version focusing on the three radiant shades of yellow and Van Gogh’s famous use of light and shade. The set features the 16 sunflowers of the painting with adjustable petals, a removable frame, a tile with Van Gogh’s signature and a hanger element to display.
Imagine yourself as a painter in front of a blank canvas. Inspired by vibrant colours, the artwork is built by adding layers and layers of details until the LEGO Art Sunflowers comes to life.
While building, you can listen to a podcast created together with the Van Gogh Museum, featuring Senior Curator Nienke Bakker and the LEGO Designer Stijn Oom, available from 1st March at LEGO.com, YouTube and Spotify. The podcast touches on the collaboration between LEGO Group and the museum in the designing process of the set and the story on how Vincent became known as the painter of sunflowers.
Speaking about bringing Van Gogh's work to life in LEGO bricks, LEGO Designer Stijn Oom said: 'Working on one of the world’s most famous paintings can be quite daunting, but recreating Sunflowers has been a dream come true. We collaborated closely with the Van Gogh Museum and its experts, delving into the details to meticulously craft a 3D version of the original artwork. One of the most challenging yet crucial aspects was translating the impasto effect into LEGO bricks while preserving the painting’s asymmetrical yet balanced composition. We are incredibly proud of the result and hope our fans enjoy building it as much as we enjoyed bringing Van Gogh’s masterpiece to life.’
Rob Groot, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum, is very excited that one of the most beloved paintings of the permanent collection is now captured in a LEGO set. “It was wonderful to see how LEGO Group and the experts of our museum have collaborated with such attention to detail and appreciation for the original artwork. We hope this LEGO set will inspire and engage new audiences with the art and life story of Vincent Van Gogh.
Celebrating the launch of the product on the 1st of March, the LEGO Group has created two lifestyle brick replicas of the painting which will be permanently displayed in the LEGO Store, Amsterdam and the Van Gogh Museum from that date on. LEGO fans in Amsterdam and Marseille will be able to meet the LEGO set designer, Stijn Oom, and get their set signed at the LEGO Stores on 1st March and 2nd March respectively.
Throughout this year, more fun activities will be organised in partnership with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. A brick-built LEGO installation will be on view in the museum from June – August 2025 and will later be housed at LEGO House Billund and LEGO World, Utrecht. To make this experience available to all, a virtual curated tour will be created with the Van Gogh Museum enabling LEGO enthusiasts worldwide to enjoy the installation from the comfort of their homes. Stay tuned for more information.
The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, renowned for housing the world’s largest collection of Van Gogh’s works, proudly includes the version of the Sunflowers painting among its treasures. This iconic masterpiece, painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1889 during his time in Arles, France, captures the vibrant beauty and intricate detail of the sunflowers he so passionately depicted.
The LEGO Art Vincent Van Gogh - Sunflowers set is available for pre-order from 28th January 2025 at www.LEGO.com/Sunflowers, the Van Gogh Museum webshop and LEGO Stores, and available for purchase from 1st March 2025 priced at €199.99 / £169.99 / $199.99 USD / $299.99 AUD / $259.99 CAD.

The LEGO Art Starry Night was — and still is — one of the greatest LEGO sets in the past decade.
This is an instant purchase for me … ??
This will be tedious...
Looks great! These textured paintings they keep releasing are really enticing!
Lego Art really has come a long way since the dot pictures... Not one for me, I've never liked Van Gogh that much, but it's an excellent recreation.
The article quotes Rob Groot, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum as saying ‘It was wonderful to see how LEGO Group and the experts..’ but all I saw were the words ‘I am Groot’.
Looks amazing but the price is ridiculous. €160 would be my max.

Haha, Groot means Big or Large in Dutch. (Which makes it kind of weird for Dutch people hearing the Marvel character constantly saying "I am Big". Dude, we know, we can see you.)
Not that interesting to be honest. There is better art sets on the market.
It’s a gorgeous model, but my first thought with these kinds of sets is “this is going to be a nightmare to keep clean”.
I like the finished product. It's perhaps not obviously Sunflowers, but I prefer Art sets that are more transformative than simply trying to copy the original in Lego. Usual problems put me off, though - £170 is still a lot of money and dusting Lego is a nuisance
Coming soon!

This looks beautiful! A great hommage to the work of Vincent van Gogh. For me as a Dutch person almost a mandatory purchase even though I am not so much into the LEGO Art sets.

A part of me definitely agrees with you- even if ppp is good, sometimes the set is just too expensive. The value of this set is good, but couldn't they have made it £90-100 like the Great Wave?
Looks very good, but AFOLs are only interested in paintings about castles.
Very nice set, well executed, too expensive, so just release the Ninjago City Workshops-set to make everyone happy
They should of done it in a different colour I think

Aren't they, though? A few years ago, I pulled a couple of paint brushes out of a kid's art set (an art set for children. I didn't specifically steal some paint brushes from a child who was in the process of opening a new art set. I imagine some will be disappointed at that...). The brushes are absolutely perfect for dusting Lego. They're soft enough to not scratch the Lego, but solid enough to dust wonderfully.
This is more like a puzzle in construction than a Lego kit. I appreciate it, and I would like to build it, but I don't know if I want to own it. Maybe it's because I need to dust my Clone Wars era sets...
As a Dutch person, I really love this set! And the art theme in general. This brings back fun memories for me as I painted sunflowers while camping about 10 years back.
I also liked the Starry Night, but the deep part with the tree held me back, for when I would hang it on the wall. The Sunflowers neatly implemented the different layers of paint without the depth bothering me. And the detailing on the back of the frame is nice. Great job Stijn and the whole team! I am jealous. :)
The recent Van Gogh exhibition at the National Gallery (now ended unfortunately) was exceptional.
Interesting they’ve gone for a more realistic interpretation instead of a stylistic one using the botanical type builds, will definitely check this out though.
That looks amazing. Great Wave was the first set in the Art series that I bought (as it's one of my favourite real-world artworks). I was a bit uncertain about it at first but it turned out to be an enjoyable build and a great finished set. I think this will probably be the second Art set I get.

No, some of us want paintings of spaceships. Which Van Gogh did, once. My fellow Whovians will know what I'm talking about.

I'll admit that my first thought upon seeing the article was "The Art line and the Botanicals line had a baby!" But yeah, if they'd made the flowers too realistic, than it wouldn't have looked like Van Gogh's work.
I am building this exact painting in a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. It cost me 15 euros, it has kept me busy lots of afternoons already and the end result will be extremely close to the original painting. I struggle to see the value Lego brings with a lot of these static display sets.

Someone had their own version on display at Brickvention last week.
I can't say I like it but it's interesting for sure. I guess we'll see more of these sets in the future. I think some of Picasso's works will look quite good in Lego form . Better yet, Piet Mondrian's works will be even more suitable.
I guess it looks much better in real life than on photos.
Don't know if it can repeat success of Starry night, because colours are more dull but it's good idea.
Oh heck yes. So glad I didn't get another brand's version now

I actually have a similar brush for this purpose, but I also tend to cycle out my Lego sets so nothing is on display for that long. Having a picture out like this long-term means longer exposure to dust (and a lot of nooks annd crannies for it to hide in…) and past a certain point you’ll probably need to give it a good wash as well.
Again, it’s a remarkable model - but ultimately I suspect I’d find it a little too high maintenance to justify displaying it long term.
Needs a tile that says "For Amy"... just like Starry Night needed an exploding TARDIS add-on. (Which I'm surprised nobody's done yet!)
If you've neve seen the episode entitled 'Vincent and the Doctor', you need to, just for the ending sequence alone. And bring tissues.
No thank you. I'll stick with my original.

[Cough, cough]
That's a fun name for sure. Kinda want to change from StyleCounselor now. Maybe that can be my new bar nickname?
Much better than the disaster Mona Lisa was!
IMO they picked the worst of Van Gogh's many paintings of sunflowers. I don't find this attractive at all. Yet it's a pretty good Lego interpretation of the original.
So many pieces to build the frame. It's like the other day with French cafe set. Half a bricks spent on the base.
This theme has really evolved.
The real one is cheaper.
Absolutely phenomal set! The aesthetic is so well translated into lego, I really didn't expect that
I’m usually positive about the art sets, even Frankenlisa, but this is really not to my taste. It looks like a 1970s era carpet print.
I guess I have been spoiled by Starry Night and the Great Wave.
I’m not knocking the skill of the designer or its fidelity, but have to agree with 560heliport on this, to me it seems a bit of a dull choice from his sunflower paintings and the Legofication hasn’t helped.
My mum and I are big Van Gogh fans, so it's disappointing how they kind of butchered it. It looks faithful to the original for sure, but the overuse of yelloe does work so well for a LEGO set.
And for $300 Australian?! Tell 'em they're dreamin'

Also, another vote for makeup brushes. The larger ones are perfect for dusting even the most intricate models.

But can you dismantle the jigsaw and build something else completely different with the parts? I know most of these will end up staying together as the intended picture but I can see lots of useful pieces for other builds.
I fall in the "No, but I like it" category. Very nicely done, but too expensive for me and other sets I would want more.
I do have to say that these textured art sets are so much more interesting than the original mosaic styled art sets.
I love these art work sets - really pretty frame on this and the gradation of colors are beautiful. This one is probably not for me, but I have the Hokusai and am still eyeing Starry Night and the Mona Lisa set. These definitely spark my creativity thinking of other ideas for what to put in the frames.
It seems that the thiccc frame and the background will take over 1500 pieces, and the actual "painting" aka the Sunflowers consists of no more than 600-800 pieces. A terrible value in my book. I'm not opposed to Lego Art per se, but they do need to pick better subjects for Legofication, something that has a lot more depth, subjects, detail that would actually warrant the 3D effect. Still life like this gains nothing from being made into Lego, a simple 20$ puzzle would do the job.
Just as with the previous Lego Van Gogh I really wish I could afford this one. I like it, but too expensive for my budget.
I'm not sure I need another one (Starry Night is great), and not sure where I'd put it if I did... but this looks fantastic.

I don’t own the most recent sail barge myself, but I’d argue something like that isn’t an entirely fair comparison. Most of its surfaces seem relatively smooth, so I imagine cleaning it wouldn’t be as laborious compared to something like this. Especially if you’re not displaying a particular model all the time, as is my personal policy.

I don't hear a 'k' sound at the end of 'Gogh' for the Dutch pronunciation, but then I am Dutch, and I've heard that it can be hard to distinguish sounds if you are not used to them. It is a hissy 'g' sound, like the start of 'gastronomy' .
And while we are at it: 'oo' is 'like 'ohm' or 'roam', not 'room', but 'oe' is pronounced like 'room'. And 'ij' in Dijkstra (or anywhere else) is much closer to 'right' then 'reap'.
I think I might hate these 'clips on a wheel' builds.
Not a fan. It manages to look bland yet too bright (the yellow) at the same time, it's all too sterile to capure van Gogh's style. In that regard Starry Night was much more successful. And it just seems extremly tedious to build. And why is the signature in the wrong spot?
As for the price.....double that of the Hokusai, which was only slightly smaller, and contained 30% less pieces (but more prints!). And as much as I liked that, it still needed a 40% discount to convince me to buy it.
I really liked how Starry night used the medium of Lego to expand the painting in a really interesting way. Stuff like this looks fine, but it doesn't have the same feel at all.
Too yellow ;) but more seriously, I think it's too monochrome to make a good set unless you really like yellow.
It's not bad, but this and the Mona Lisa make me want the Hokusai...
I wish they would do something of Klimt's, one that's multicoloured.

My take is most big SW sets can be displayed in a display cabinet. One of my issues with Starry Night (and now this new one) is that the best place for them is hanging on a wall--which means dusting.

I actually used to display some of my Lego sets in a display cabinet. The problem was it wasn’t airtight, so the dust would inevitably get into it.
On reflection, I think the best point of comparison for a Lego set like this isn’t other Lego sets; it’s the pictures it’s supposed to mimic. Obviously you need to clean a picture every so often, but the nature of it means such a task isn’t too laborious. Which is annoying, because I think this particular model is very effective in this execution.

Get a plastic case go over it... Was thinking Mona Lisa....
I don't understand Lego. They had the opportunity to work with Nathan Sawaya to make a smaller version of "Yellow", a stunning Lego art piece but Lego chooses to make a nice painting into a Lego reproduction that looks beyond kitsch.

However, I have heard plenty of hissy gastronomes. In fact, pretty much all of them.
A classic case of just because we can doesn't mean we should. It just looks too bland to build, tho it is a great representation.
They must of did well Vincent van Gogh - The Starry Night to make another.
Not for me though. Don't got room for 15 lego paintings.
(Future paintings - most likely make)
Guess i would not need hang all at once.
Like all great puzzles, really need a picture with more colour, how about Monet's garden at Giverny.
@WizardOfOss said:
"And why is the signature in the wrong spot?"
I have to correct myself: I was comparing it with the wrong painting. While I did know van Gogh made multiple paintings with sunflowers, I wasn't aware he actually made multiple versions of the (almost exact) same painting. And I was looking at the initial version now in the National Gallery in London instead of the repetition version in the Van Gogh Museum....which have the signatures in slightly different positions.

I wish Lego published reports of how many sets were produced. This seems extremely more niche than many other 18+ sets aimed at adult collectors. I said the same thing about the Twilight house set and someone chimed in that it had over 10,000 votes on Ideas. 10,000 - 15,000 units sold is not much in the grand scheme of things:
A "Gold record" is an album that sells 500,000 units;
Ford sold 732,139 F-Series trucks in 2024 at $39K+ each;
Apple sold 228+ million iPhones in 2024 at $500+ each;
I just can't see the benefit of some of the niche sets at high prices Lego has been doing.

Costco Had the Mona Lisa on launch for about 18% off, if they have this, will probably pick it up again. Love these art pieces.
Wow, that's probably one of the best Art sets to date. Not like it beats Spider-Man though
It looks really neat and I was considering making one of these myself after doing Starry Night. But now that LEGO has made their own version, I won't break out into any of my own creativity. I'll let them control my brain instead. Less thinking...

"I wish Lego published reports of how many sets were produced. This seems extremely more niche than many other 18+ sets aimed at adult collectors. I said the same thing about the Twilight house set and someone chimed in that it had over 10,000 votes on Ideas. 10,000 - 15,000 units sold is not much in the grand scheme of things:
A "Gold record" is an album that sells 500,000 units;
Ford sold 732,139 F-Series trucks in 2024 at $39K+ each;
Apple sold 228+ million iPhones in 2024 at $500+ each;
I just can't see the benefit of some of the niche sets at high prices Lego has been doing."
I have no idea of the details, but I would guess the absolute minimum production run for a standard LEGO set is about 50,000, or perhaps more.
In any case, this will be popular. It is one of the most famous paintings of all time and I can easily envisage the Van Gogh museum alone selling a couple of thousand in their gift shop over the course of a few years.
Surprised nobody here has noticed the 3 different shades of light yellow in the photos here and on the Lego website. Quality control issues? Or some tiles/plates have darker/lighter plates under them? It is hard to miss on their photos and videos of the set, and I am certain they didn't just create 3 new versions of light yellow.
