Why was there no random minifigure today?
I'd love to have an Invisible Hand playset like this. Or a remake of the Clone Wars Y-wing. I was never a big fan of the Malevolence though.
Time to abandon ship heh heh cough

Sometimes the site glitches. In the past, RXotD has had particular problems on days when the time change kicks in, but the UK won't start DST for another two weeks. But it can't stop us from talking about the minifigs in this set! Grievous looks great, except for the two Battle Droid arms that don't match the look or coloration of the rest of his design. Padme looks like she's gone seriously overboard on lip fillers. Dooku looks...furry. And Anakin looks like Indiana Jones.
I bought this for my kid after he spent all summer (whilst we were camping in Canada) pretending a triangular log was the Malevolence. I felt guilty for ruining his log creativity. Yet, this is a fun set.
Ion technology is the answer!!
I loved how messed up the Rocket Droids were hunting down the escape pods from those episodes. Good times!

Log is never as good a toy as LEGO. It just isn't. Don't believe the commercial!
Ah yes, some of the only episodes I actually found myself enjoying in the first season starred this ship.
I know people say it gets good, but man does TCW start off slow.

Didn't you get one with the other's head once?
One of the best play-scale Star Wars sets. I think it's quite underrated.

Hence the comment. It's on my fridge, and viewable here:

From what I understand, quite a few people got that head in 7621.

I suppose that is true, but I really enjoyed the Ryloth, Malevolence, and Lurmen arcs just off the top of my head. The animation was a bit rough at times though.
Here’s a real case of luck of the draw so far as Lego Star Wars goes. I doubt we’d ever see a remake of this; it was lucky to get made even once.
Wonder when Lego’s going to get around to making another Dooku fig.

Yeah the first series can be a bit rough. They still seemed to have the mindset of “it’s a cartoon for children so better make it childish!” that the later series grew out of

It IS great for a snack.
Thanks for bringing that ear worm back into my life. Now, I'm off to push a candy red button.
Ren and Stimpy is the answer!!!

Definitely one of the darkest parts of the Clone Wars. Droids weren't so harmless after all. Roger, roger.
That is, until Darth Maul returned and starts executing entire groups of people.
I want remake of this set because its one fo my fav ships.

I always thought that Han Solo looked like Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones looks more like Deckard. Han Solo had more flouncy hair.

It's gonna be pretty hard to beat Saruman's — I mean, Dooku's 2013 minifig. I just hope that they give him his appropriate lightsaber hilt if they make him again....

No, Indiana Jones looks like the President. In fact, there are two presidents who he bears a distinct likeness to.

I wonder if the fact that they'd have to create a new mold for his lightsaber is at least part of the reason we haven't gotten a new Dooku. They'd still have the digital files for the old one, but that mold was designed to be chromed, and Lego doesn't do that anymore, except for the One Ring.
I have this set: In 2015 I took all the blues off, made it Imperial grayscale, and removed the ion cannon. Even ten years later, it still look pretty good.

The weird thing about this set is how late it was - this set only came out long after that arc concluded.
And yeah, despite being slow and kinda shallow, Season 1 can be shockingly brutal at times, like cracking open the escape pods as mentioned prior and the sudden man-eating eel in "Rookies," and they didn't hold back with the screaming... those freaked me out as a kid.
Ah yes, the set that started the great shrinkage of Star Wars sets...

I don't think this modern design of Grievous ever had battle droid arms--I believe all four are exclusive to him. That being said, I think me and, say, half of my childhood friends, ended up using battle droid arms on him after some of the original ones got lost or broken!

Aw, man. That stinks.
Grievous is one of those rare LEGO characters where all of his parts are unique and designed for him.
Btw, I like your username :)

It was especially surprising because this set wasn't released 2012, but most of the other Star Wars The Clone Wars sets based on vehincles from TCW season 1 had been released in 2009 or 2010.
Never got it, always kind of wanted it because the Malevolence Arc is cool, but Padme always looked weird in the Clone Wars style from the images online, and I had all the other figures. Her eyes just seem a bit too far apart. The ship could have also been cool, but I don't know, I had other priorities at the time within Star Wars.

I pulled up an image of just the minifig, and with the arms in a different pose, it's easier to see what's really going on. Yes, you get four arms with the same mold. They have a section of bar just above the elbow, so two arms clip onto the shoulders, and the other two clip onto the first pair of arms. But in the set image, the way they're posed makes it look like plain dark-bley battle droid "shooter" arms are clipped onto the special molded arms.
That Padme figure always freaked me out for whatever reason.

@RaiderOfTheLostBrick she was rather freaky in the show as well. On a related note, I used to say that each new animated version of Anakin Skywalker looked worse and worse. The Clone Wars’ style definitely didn’t do certain characters any favors.

Yeah, a lot of the characters don't look right in the show. Rebels did a much better job of transferring actors' likenesses into animation, imo.
I'm really glad we've moved on from those freaky head pieces. It's been over ten years since the last sets that had them! (75045 and 75046 )
Ugly padme. That's all I have to say

To understand the Clone Wars minifigs, you first need to know about Samurai Jack. That was a show on Cartoon Network, which was helmed by Genndy Tartakovsky. The original Clone Wars shorts were produced by the same guy, and done in the same style. The CGI series that followed may have carried over some of the character features in the transition from 2D to 3D.

Interesting. Didn't know that. Still though, I'm glad we're rid of that old face print style. Having figures of characters from the show that match with figures from other areas of the franchise is a lot better.
Liked this set; liked the TCW (both the series and the sets), liked these episodes, and I love General Grievous as a character.
@BabuBrick:
With rare exceptions, the faces didn’t really fit with the rest of the minifigs, for sure. But I miss the show, and hope the final season eventually makes its way to DVD, so I can have the complete run.

Yeah! My sister and I watched some of the important scenes from the Siege of Mandalore arc on YouTube a couple of years ago, and it definitely looked like the show highlight! Hoping to watch the whole thing someday.
