BrickLink Designer Program Series 7 finalists revealed!

Posted by ,

The winners of the BrickLink Designer Program Series 7 voting phase have been revealed and will become sets next year if their crowdfunding goals are met. Crowdfunding will take place in February 2026.

The selected designs are as follows:

Images of all five are available after the break...

Antique Collection by terauma

Sushi Restaurant by Brickproject

Privateer Frigate Fortuna by BrickPerfection

W.A.L.T. the Little Robot by Leewan

Alchemist's Shop by Shram

As usual, these models will now be revised with the model governance and building instructions teams to iron out any dubious building techniques and improve the building experience, ready to be pre-ordered next year.

What do you think of these designs and would you consider pre-ordering any, depending on the prices? Let us know in the comments.

The Sushi Restaurant ... is there a tramway on the opposite side?

Oh, I am so onboard.

Heh. Train pun! I didn't intend it, but I'll claim it.

Pff no more castle sets!

No castles this time? Surprising.

Gravatar

'With six alternate faces!'
You mean 5 alternate faces. And an off screen.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Quite pleased at the variety this time! This series was quickly turning into The Big Expensive Castle Set theme.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Well the Alchemist set has some Castle figures…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, all new designers. I don’t recall the candidate sets this go around… perhaps sleepless night just needed a nap.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Unusual choices, I was quite surprised by the differences.

I definitely want the frigate and the alchemist shop. The furniture intrigues me. But I'm not sure about it.

I am a little disappointed that there isn't another castle or a more unusual set, imagination seems a bit restrained. I didn't bother looking or voting because I didn't want to be disappointed. These seem very random choices. But then there have been a lot of castles. It'll be interesting to see the prices on these, I think the frigate will be the most expensive, but rest probably depends on the details in each set.

By in United Kingdom,

Hmm. Nothing floating my boat, but hopefully some people will like them.
Well done to the designers.

We could have our first sets NOT reach 3,000 here…

Gravatar
By in United States,

"Antique Collection"

They're not even trying to hide that these are going to be some of the sets that most rapidly appreciate in value.

Gravatar
By in United States,

And with W.A.L.T. and the Antiques, Bricklink Designer Program is now officially just LEGO Ideas: The Hyperexclusive Sequel

I do like that they're finally diving into sailing ships and Japanese architecture though!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Fortuna looks amazing and probably will be the only one I might go for.
Alchemist Shop will go well with ideas Blacksmith.
Sushi looks incredible. I want it, but I don't really have anything else to go with it. Absolutely smashing design though. Stickers are rough.
WALT will sell out fast I bet. It's cute and cheap.
Furniture is quite neat, and it may be cheap enough to grab a variety of purchasers.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I quite like the robot, and it is nice to see a smaller set make it again. I thought the same about the antiques until I saw the piece count. I think that will struggle if it is £125-150.

The others are nice MOCs, but I wouldn't purchase at BDP prices. The ship in particular has pushed the piece limit.

I'll bet Antique collection and / or W.A.L.T. is that one. They don't really go with anything, and are out of scale with anything else LEGO has made. Although Antique collection might go well with Scala Dolls such as My Dad 3220 .

Agreed. Some very underwhelming sets there. The Antique Collection has a certain charm, if you ignore the fact it is trying too hard to not look like Lego.

The Sushi Restaurant looks amazing!

By in Jordan,

I really like the Sushi Restaurant. The way it's designed to be displayed in different configurations is fantastic.

The others are pretty cool as well, but I'm not too keen on the Antique Collection set.

I keep hearing that designers are now limited to one 'win' a year. But haven't found that officially anywhere (though people must be reading it somewhere).

Nice to see some non-minifig based ideas this time around.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was a maybe on the Fortuna, but I just got the Endurance, so I’ll probably pass.

The alchemist shop is possibly the only one I have any interest in. The roof and design overall are cool, might be the only one I get.

The rest are a pass. Glad there is more variety and less of a castle heavy set of options, but I just don’t have any interest in the other three. Cool designs though. Glad some new designers got picked!

Brickproject (Sushi Restaurant) also did the Gold Mine Expedition in the previous Series 6, so at least one is a repeat.

Oh my goodness, they all look so good! I'd buy them all if I had the money. But I'll probably definitely try to get the Sushi Restaurant and Walt. Alchemist Shop is also really pretty and I love the giant flask on the roof!

Gravatar

I like the frigate a lot, though I'd certainly be worried about stability for a non-TLG designed set like that.

The Sushi Restaurant looks incredible!

Gravatar

The Alchemist shop for me. I passed on the Blacksmith shop - just never grabbed me, but this set has a whimsy, charm, and polish that seems totally different despite having a similar style

I don't like the policy of just one 'win' per year. I prefer if a designer can release multiple sets over time with a common theme. I'm hoping to get a set to accompany the excellent 910040 Harbourmaster's Office.

Gravatar

By in Norway,

Oh my!
Curios to see if the tram on sushi and bottle in the roof for alchemist survives testing and clean up,but still excited for both. Hopefully future me next year will still be as hyped since I expect us non-euro currency users will have a new round of above modular price points.

Gravatar
By in Greece,

Finally a proper ship! I was so hyped by the Endurance but it ended up badly since it wasn't minifig scaled. This one on the other hand (unless it costs a kidney and a heart which is highly possible) is a must buy (although I heavily object on the "order now, receive in 2 years time" BDP proccess...)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Very keen for the Sushi Restaurant

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

The antique collection is nice, I think it is intended to represent a cabinet of curiosities (also named in museums as Kunstkammer).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh wow, I never paid this theme much mind, writing it off as glorified MOCs and an Ideas wannabe. But these made me reconsider that stance and take a closer look at past models. 31131 didn't quite do it for me so I'm excited for the sushi shop.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I'm really surprised about the choices this time, and I'm not alone. A lot of comments on who voted for these sets. I know I didn't. I don't even remember them as candidates, lol. Really surprised no castles made it through this time. This will be the first round letting my wallet rest and recover. Ha ha!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

These are all pretty boring. Not a single one will sell out.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Really like that ship. But I've already got several similar ones by alternative manufacturers, so no real need for it. Then again, if the price is halfway decent, one can never have enough awesome old sailing vessels.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

No castles but the alchemist shop is definitely medieval/fantasy themed. It even has a Lion Knight (for now anyway, final design might change). I'll definitely pick it up, if it's not changed for the worse.

It's an original design. You know, like these are supposed to be.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the ship but fully expect it will be out of my price range. The robot is cute but not sure I would actually buy it. The Alchemist is interesting but as others have already said it really looks very similar to the Blacksmith. I believe there was another one in this round that I liked a little better than the chosen one. Sushi Restaurant is interesting also but not something I would buy. The Antique one is a unique concept but again not for me. With the state of our economy & tariff issue I fully anticipate the prices for most if not all of these to be crazy expensive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some neat looking sets. It's nice not to have a castle again, but there is still some medieval representation.

I guess I will wait and see come next February if anything stands out still. My interest tends to wax and wane over time vs my initial reaction.

The designer maxed out the design and went for the absolute maximum of 4000 parts. Presumably this will be about £350.

I was beginning to think this was the Bricklink Medieval, Castle, and Modular Designer Program. Glad to finally see a bit of diversity in what folks voted for this year. Bets aside, the sushi restaurant is something new and really pleasing, it could go well with city layout, with monkey king or ninjago so that's interesting. That alchemist shop looks so much alike the blacksmith shop that I can't belive it was chosen, Lego designers will definitely change it a lot.

Very pleased that the sushi restaurant has made it this time, and I like the sailing ship as well. The robot is cute, and well designed, and I love the glass flask in the roof of the alchemist’s workshop - full of character!

Almost certain to get the sushi restaurant, and the frigate if I can afford it when it comes out.

Congrats to all designers!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm disappointed with the reception of these sets that I'm seeing here. This is probably my favorite wave of sets yet. The building techniques are on a whole other level with models like the antique shop and sushi restaurant, and the creativity is off the charts with these selections. Its sad to see the risks may not pay off in terms of demand for the sets, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the backlash I'm seeing here is a vocal minority.

"I've never tried to get one of these swts before, but the sushi restaurant is amazing, how does the process for getting one of these sets work exactly?"

It's better to think of the process as a "pre-order" as opposed to "crowdfunding." In crowdfunding, money is gathered from backers up front, then used to actually produce the item. Lego doesn't actually need the money up front (see recent revenue report), so they charge customers when the item ships.

The way it works is on February 1, 2026, Lego will open up these 5 sets for pre-order. You place your order for whichever set(s) you want. It's best to do this as quickly as possible, so the set you want doesn't sell out. Lego keeps the pre-order open for a few weeks (I think) or until a set hits a max of 30,000 pre-orders, whichever comes first. Then you wait about 6 months for your items to ship. When the set ships, you get billed. It ends up being a very long wait.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Depending on the price, I may get two of that Alchemist’s Shop, I’m pretty much only in fantasy/medieval stuff nowadays and despite how close it is to the Blacksmith, I love it

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Not a single castle set!! Wow!! Cant stand those anymore. Still trying to understand how the Siege Encampment sold out. It's a mess and looks like a bunch of polibags... anyways, love the sushi restaurant and the Fortuna Frigate. I hope it gets proper sails, though...

Gravatar

@thor96:
This isn't Ideas. This is stuff that got rejected by Ideas. It's the project designers who have to do all the work to make their projects compliant with safety standards and such, but LEGO employees might be the ones who have to test for compliance.

By in New Zealand,

I like the Privateer, but the part count and composition (4,000 pieces, 20 cannons, etc) makes me think it will be the most expensive BDP set to date, or certainly close to it - particularly if the designer gets his wish of having as many minifigs as cannons. Also, if the rumours are to be believed, by the time this is ready for pre-order at least two other ship sets will have been announced or come out (Black Pearl, Going Merry), which might dampen demand a bit.

I like the sushi shop, and will probably order one, though will need to think about how to incorporate it into a city setting.

I'm on the fence about the Alchemist. I'm a castle fan so I should be keen, but like the Blacksmith this has a different scale to other castle sets, and would require a lot of space to build a MOC village at this scale.

The antique set is a nice design, but it strikes me as something that would be a display only set, and I already have a lot of stuff to display!

I didn't even notice WALT when the voting was happening so was pleasantly surprised to see it get chosen. If it's not too expensive I might get one. It's quirky and I can see AFOLs buying them and putting them into funny poses or interacting with other Lego sets in amusing ways.

These are BDP fan designed submissions, not Lego IDEAS winners (in all honesty it is become a bit of a blurred line) so Lego designers will not be fully redesigning them. The BDP entries are all digitally designed using a set palette of parts and will only be minorly changed in areas that are decided to not be pratically feasible (eg damaging to bricks, better part usage etc). The bulk of the work in designing the set and creating the instructions is done by the fan designer. Though it does seem the LEGO/Bricklink are having mnore involvement to ensure success (in some earlier series the fan designers dropped out due to the workload I believe).

So 'what you see is what you get' a lot more than the IDEAS winners, which are just that, and idea for a set that gets reimagined by official designers.

It feels like there are so many of these programs in various stages that it's almost not worth get invested until the final set is actually unveiled for sale.

Does this mean LEGO is releasing a castle set in Q1 2026 that they don't want a Bricklink castle to compete with? The speed Bricklink castle sets have sold out means that I can't see a commercial reason otherwise to go this route (yes I know Alchemist Shop is medieval theme but as others have pointed out the scale is not ideal).

I don't believe that is true. I think the vote is only part of the consideration, but not the determinant.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I forgot to vote on these, but I'm fairly pleased with how things turned out. Since I can never afford the usual obligatory castle set (and also tend to miss my chance to buy one anyway) its absence doesn't bother me much. The sets that were chosen do cover a nice range of sizes and subjects. I might go for the Alchemist's shop, which seems rather smaller than the Blacksmith's shop and has that unusual roof decoration; if the Sushi shop keeps its tram but isn't priced like a castle it's definitely interesting; I actually like the furniture set quite a lot; the Fortuna appeals quite strongly at the moment; and W.A.L.T. is just too cute. Won't make any firm decisions until I see the final designs and prices, though. I think everything will clear the 3000 limit, though there may well be more than one which don't sell out, just as there were for other groups. Why should that be a problem?

Congratulations to all the sucessful designers! It's a nice group of possibilities.

There is a limit to 1 per theme, 1 per size (piece count) and other factors (like not conflicting with a Lego retail set that is due to be released). So if the two sets with most votes are both the same theme, only the one with the most votes makes it into the final cut.

If someone wants to elaborate on the exact process that selects the final sets?
