Random set of the day: Frax' Phoenix Flyer
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 30264 Frax' Phoenix Flyer, released during 2014. It's one of 62 Legends of Chima sets produced that year. It contains 32 pieces and 1 minifig, and its retail price was US$3.99.
It's owned by 3,241 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $4.80, or eBay.

The furries are at war!
I feel like his friends all tended to get their beaks washed out with soap after trying to tell their parents how their day went.
my people have summoned me
Id like to take a moment to thank The Sun newspaper for being the reason behind why I have so many of this polybag
the polybag promotions back in the day was hella sweet
Huh. Second day in a row I have both the RMotD and the RSotD.
It's... BLAZIN' TIME!!!
60 sets in a year! That is insane!
But he already has wings, and he's clearly about to plug some fire chi to supe him up, why does he need a vehicle, let alone one that flies?
Chima was weird. They took drugs to make them crazy and give them super strength, but also their vehicles were on drugs, the whole civilization used drugs to shape the land, these drugs even changed your entire evolution into becoming more sapient and "civilized" and more anthropomorphized, it was just weird in general. The whole world was fueled by drugs, and they had wars over who could and couldn't have any. Truly bizarre as children's entertainment.

Doesn't want to tire himself out before arriving at whatever he needs to juice up for?
Chima characters are far more interesting than the vehicles to me.
Frax was one of my fav designs from phoenixes.
SHame he was non existant character in show.
I love the polybags and Legend beasts more than most Chima sets, as the mainline sets usually give you a skeletal giant vehicle with a sculpted beast head... whilst the polybag give you a teensy tiny vehicle still vaguely shaped like the animal in question. And the minifigs didn't scimp out on you, so it was a cheaper way to get characters. The legend beasts were downright great, as they are great builds and include main characters!
That said, I didn't get too many... because polybag availability. Bummer maaan
Anyway, this set is still vaguely shaped like a phoenix and includes a fully-fledged phoenix minifig. A great sample of the theme's later years!

20% of them are magazine foil bags, but then they also covered a lot of types of sets - they had regular building sets, speedorz, constraction figures.

And 24 of them have only 1 minifig.
Honestly, the sets from that year were so awesome.
70145, 70132, 70131, 70130, 70129- I wish I had all of them! I've only got 70131 and 70141.
@Binnekamp: Talking about the Legend Beasts, I still regret not picking up 70123. It's the only Legend Beast I didn't get.
