By in New Zealand,

The green on the torso matches terribly with the legs.

He's just driving his Don Jeere tractor, and not botherin' nobody.

It's only from 2009. How young are you?

By in Canada,

I didn't know that they kept the overalls print from the 80's until 2009

I has this set as a kid. Even in 2009, the minifigure head looked old-fashioned.

By in Australia,

its the dude with the food!

Pepper Roni in a farmer disguise made me wonder: why wasn’t he in LEGO City Undercover? It would have been a fun reference to the last original Lego game, and he would have fit in with the game’s goofy cast.

The face print dates back to 2002, with Pepper Roni from Island Extreme Stunts. Brickset doesn't show it going back before 2006, possibly because of a running mold change in the minifig heads of the time.

Now he might be just a simple country minifig…

By in Turkey,

I don't have this minifigure but I had odd number of tires, so I've built the tractor. I think mine was red.

Remember when minifig face design was in an experimental phase and minifigs with multiple face types could appear in the same sets and themes?

Pepper's farm remembers

I guess I’m just used to the modern Star Wars that came out that year. For some reason it makes 2009 Lego city look older"

In 2009 Star Wars was still using black dot eyes whilst other themes, starting in 2001, used white pupil dots. If anything Star Wars was seriously lagging behind. I might misremember, but I'm pretty sure they finally modernized in 2010, after the 10th anniversary was over from 2009.

... just don't look at the The Clone Wars figs. (Because they might eat your soul) Because those were a design offshoot that eventually stopped when minifig face designs became homogenized and Exo-Force and the original The Clone Wars subtheme ended.

I guess this is when Pepper felt he was growing too old to be just "the pizza delivery kid" anymore and had to get a more substantial job in order to pay the bills. The citizens of Lego Island aren't going to just *give* you bricks to build a house in return for delivering pizzas forever, Pepper, you've got to work for your living like a normal person...!

That torso print looks so dated on a 2002 head; Bricklink tells me that it first appeared in the same year, but it looks far older than that; I guess because it's a recolour of an earlier print from 1984. Still, the way it *looks* old gives me the feeling that Pepper must have raided Papa Brickolini's wardrobe to find this outfit when he started working the farm...

I miss that, honestly. Nowadays minifigure faces often feel bland in comparison; I know people love to make fun of them, but I much preferred the extreme, wild and wacky facial designs of the late 90s / early 2000s.

Also: I understand that reference!

Mama and Papa Brickolini fired their son, and he had to go work on the mainland.
