Random minifig of the day: mk124
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is mk124 Crab General, a Monkie Kid figure that came in one set, 80049 Dragon of the East Palace, released during 2023.
Our members collectively own a total of 1,760 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $9.40.

Yeah, at first I thought that his was an Atlantis figure I didn't remember.
tbh a lot of these guys, and the atlantis figures, would be great for the Flying Dutchman if Lego ever made one
I didn’t know they got the South Park license.
Sometimes you're browsing Brickset and you come across a minifigure you genuinely did not know even existed.
The head mold on this Minifigures reminds me of sw1195
Fun fact about this character! "Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals" is a Chinese idiom for weak and numerous underlings, drawing from their role as the army of the Dragon King of the East Sea. Keep on doing your best though, little guy. We're all rooting for you.

I'm guessing the Turtle Minister is a shot at the lightning speed at which bureaucracy operates?
If Lego can make an original theme based on Journey to the West, can we get an original theme based on Greek mythology? That’d be awesome. So far, the only Greek rep I can think of in LEGO are Minotaurus, some random monsters, and the Hercules and Hades CMFs.

Technically Hercules is Roman, though he was basically borrowed into the Roman pantheon from the Greek Heracles, instead of just holding up a similar god and saying they were the same person.
The Atlantis theme features what appears to be Greek architecture. Can't remember if they did anything in the Architecture theme, though. And I don't know if I'd call all of them "random monsters", but there are at least four CMFs that I'd consider to be based on Greco-Roman mythology, as well as three different versions of Fluffy the Cerberus clone.
I don't know why, but my first thought after seeing this guy was "He looks French".

Does 3817 count?

I now see Garmadon's forces in TLNM in a whole new light.
I was quite impressed with this figure, and the set he came in.
Taste like crab, talk like general.
Slightly disappointed they didn’t give him at least one claw hand. Could still have held a sword in the other, just like with Davy Jones!
He seems nice.
Is Monkie Kid theme still alive?

"WE ARE CRAB PEOPLE!"
Staying on the subject of cartoons, he has something of Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama.

Me too, but as I own both the Portal of Atlantis set and the Temple of the Endless Sea I couldn’t quite justify buying this as well.
Mr. Krabs got a military commission.
This absurd-looking minifigure perfectly matches the absurd underwater battle scenes of Journey to the West.
This minifigure is crabsoluely clawsome!!

Indeed. Off the top of my head, minifigures and moulded/brick-built creatures not already mentioned by name:
- Gorgon Medusa
- Harpy
- Cyclops
- Centaurs (at least three variants: CMF, HP & Trolls)
- Poseidon
- Athena (Battle Goddess CMF)
- Kraken
- Pegasus (multiple)
- Phoenix
- Griffin (possibly Greek)
- Warrior Woman/Amazon (Series 10 CMF)
- Satyr/Faun/Pan
- Eros (Cupid CMF)
- Giant scorpion
