Why do the yellow head People not count as minifigures?
I love the giant ticket vendor next to the building with the tiny door.

They’ve been known to hold minifigs captive, so I imagine they’re not welcome in this town.
Is that yellow thing a bird, or a weird flower?

Unlicensed Big Bird?
A door too small for minifigs in a set with maxifigs? Yeah.
EDIT:
Also, to be nitpicky as usual, this is NOT a "Basic" set. It's correct theme is "Universal Sets". "Basic" sets were only made during 1980-1994 and 1998-2000. And those were actually at least 2-3 separate themes themselves.
@MCLegoboy: Hmmm...dunno, I'm picturing a 'Psychiatry 5 Cents' situation...could be wrong:)
I love it when the train comes down the street every morning. They say it takes you to Santa Claus
Love the little kiddo and the door-flag atop his sailboat.
Got a strong feeling of déjà vu with this one.....
Apart from that.....3+! Now compare that to nowadays 4+ sets.....
Ah the simpler times where one head could be a small wannabe-sailor child, an adult border control agent and a matriarch with the most voluminous skirt

Pretty sure the Homemaker figs are more likely to be featured in Trilogy of Terror 2…
I do believe this was my first Lego set. I still have the white maxi body and blue hat. Bought by my Grandmother! 40 odd years and 200+ sets later, I'm still going strong! And introducing it to a new generation..
Pretty sure this was my first set also bought by gran. Very fond memories. I'm 53. :)

I don't know... checking UK catalogues from 1972 to 1974 Lego calls all of these types of sets "Basic Sets".
This was my first LEGO set! I still have the box, albeit cut up into six separate pieces (front, back, top, bottom, right, left). Just last month, I went through my LEGO Storage Case that contained all if my child LEGO and picked out all the elements of this set and bagged them together with the cut up box.
No, YOU'RE a basic building set!
