Random set of the day: Riverside Raid
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 70160 Riverside Raid, released during 2014. It's one of 6 Ultra Agents sets produced that year. It contains 88 pieces and 2 minifigs, and its retail price was US$11.99/£9.99.
It's owned by 4,009 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $11.00, or eBay.

To the side, just out of frame.
Today's Minifig of the Day came in a river themed set as well
This is a perfectly fine little set taken on its own, but just comparing this to something like the incredible 8631 makes it feel so... lackluster. EDIT: Omg they even have the same part count! Lol.
Cool villain minifig though, if not a bit concept-confused.
I almost bought this set back in the day, but I was concentrating more on Star Wars and LEGO Movie stuff at the time, so I never got around to it. I always thought that Agent Max Burns was such a cool minifig (and a cool name).
At first glance I thought it was a drone vehicle. Cool design for an ATV, looks solid.
This vehicle is clearly meant for rescuing the man who has fallen into the river in LEGO City!
A fourth era of Agents would be nice... but so would a new Power Miners / Rock Raiders.
Agents really liked pulling that “this bad guy has half of their face weird!” card didn’t they?
Don't forget that the top of the vehicle can split off to create a jet ski! of which there are no pictures here on this site...

Those are very bright flashlights right? Because Lego would never endorse anything with heavy weaponry.

Max Burns, the illegitimate son of Montgomery Burns ;-)

It's a riverside raid, not a river raid, so it doesn't need to include it.
Weirdly he can sit in the vehicle. Shame Adam Acid never appeared anywhere else, or Redox UAGT012 with his bola hat. They would have being great characters in Hidden Side etc. Although given all the radioactive gunk split on him Nick Nuke seems a more relevant name.
As for the set, IMO it's not even half as good as 2008 Agents sets. As for the name, there's a Polish band called Riverside.
I remember getting this set at discount just for one reason: the 'Men In Black' suit minifigure. Other Ultra Agents minifigures also wear suits, but they all feature a closed blazer with the logo on the chest. This one is the only one (as far as I know) that has an open blazer and has a cool 'in the middle of the action' look.
But it is actually a nice little set, the villain is pretty decent and the ATV looks great and has some uncommon pieces (for its epoch, I mean).

Today's MotD also goes by "Max". Hey, wait...
LEGO next IN-HOUSE theme "Agents" related?
I wish TLG would go back to doing more [doesn't have to be exclusive] of their own unlicensed material like this instead of only licensed Supers... Or their own Pirates instead of licensed One Piece, etc.
This looks like it was a great set (that came out during my dark ages).
I thought the title said Rivendell instead of Riverside
I love Ultra Agents. This is what super heroes wished it would be. Even on this little set there's a winch and the top half detaches to become a jet scooter.
