Today's random set is 30052 AAT, released during 2011. It's one of 32 Star Wars sets produced that year. It contains 46 pieces, and its retail price was US$3.99.

It's owned by 1,757 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $19.60, or eBay.

Hey, we're back to Star Wars! Huwbot's giving us the good stuff!

The proportions on this look so weird. Too skinny in the middle.

I know I have multiple mini AAT sets, but this one isn’t ringing a bell. Don’t know if it’s because I didn’t get it, or if I just forgot it.

I'd like a new play scale AAT. I know one was relased only a few years ago, but the Separatists and the Trade Federation barely get any sets.

$19? You could Bricklink this set for probably three dollars.

But then you wouldn't have the colored bag!

Some of the SW sets feels like milkwork. Lego puts it out there, depending on fans to buy anything SW slapped on the box (or polybag).

30680 is such a massive step up from this... either this is one of those cases that really highlights how much LEGO models have improved over the past 1.5 decades thanks to new parts, or this was a poor showing for 2011. (Given my beloved, albeit inaccurate, 7965 is from 2011, I'm biased towards the latter line of reasoning....)

Also, there have been surprisingly few minifig-scale sets of these... judging by the most recent releases (2009, 2015, 2020), I'd say we're just about overdue a new one.

Hmm, the colours almost look like shades of biscuit; gingerbread AAT when?

By in Netherlands,

I like that it's actually the colors from The Phantom Menace instead of the duller CIS ones (I say this as an owner of the 2009 one, whis is one of the few SW sets from beyond 2002 I own)

Where are you going to source the LBG turntable 3680 for such a low price?

Didn't know that part was so expensive. I thought I had dozens of it. Turns out I was thinking of the light grey version.

It sure is, it was only produced for a year or two. It is one of those parts to look out for when buying used lots.

This was a $4 polybag from 2011. There were quite a few swooshable ships and vehicles done this way, and I seem to remember that they were quite popular at the time.

You seem to be implying it is low quality but sells because of the Star Wars logo. Have you compared it to some of the other $4 or $5 retail 2011 poly bags such as 40021 40022 30028 30014 ?

Nope. Not by today's standards and not by 2011 standards.

I throw the bags away, so if I wanted to Bricklink a polybag (it wouldn't be this one, not because it has an expensive piece, but because I have the superior 30680), I'd be perfectly happy with Bricklinking the individual parts if the set cost too much any other way, anyway.

Those proportions are so out of whack it hurts

Cannot talk about every polybag here, not everything will appeal to everyone. I just said how I felt. Having said that, 40022 and 30028 seems like definite keepers.
