Sets retiring soon discounted on LEGO.com
Posted by CapnRex101,
A number of sets scheduled to retire at the end of this year have been discounted on LEGO.com, by up to 40% in some cases!
The highlights in Europe include:
- 20% off 10332 Medieval Town Square
- 30% off 10355 Blacktron Renegade
- 25% off 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters' Cottage
- 30% off 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover
- 30% off 42182 NASA Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle - LRV
- 30% off 75374 The Onyx Cinder
- 40% off 80116 Trotting Lantern
Not all discounts are available in all regions and there is some variation between them, such as 25% off 10332 Medieval Town Square in Australia, but it is worth checking the discounts wherever you are:
Update: More discounts have been added today, including on various DREAMZzz sets and 40% off 75380 Mos Espa Podrace Diorama.

This is exciting news, thank you.
Of course, not the best timing to release October 1 sets, BLDP Series 6 crowd funding, and EOL discount offers...
Helpful query on overall retiring sets

If they want me to buy the Renegade…
Mission accomplished
Annoyed about the Blacktron Renegade, because while I only paid 10 Euro more each, I haven't built them yet, so I could just as easily have waited until now. Oh well, another reason why I have stopped almost completely buying directly from LEGO online.
wait what? i swear the onyx cinder released like 3 months ago?
If only the Onyx Cinder wasn't so bad looking. I quite enjoyed the Bad Batch, and the minifigs in the set are cool, but not cool enough for me to consider buying the set, even at the reduced price.
Anyone have any sense as to how long this discount period will last? (IB not long enough)

It was released in August 2024, but I know what you mean!
The set was originally scheduled for January of last year, but Skeleton Crew was delayed and the Onyx Cinder was ultimately released before even a publicly-available trailer for the show, which likely harmed its sales. That is a shame because the set and the series are excellent.

Also bought it in the july sale?
Yeah that hurts a bit and this isn't even the end of year clear the stock sale.
Thinking about getting another Blacktron Renegade for the Alienator alt build. I did that for the alt builds of the Galaxy Explorer.
No discount in the USA for Renegade, boooo.
Majority of them are lackluster for the US.
Got the F1 Kick for my niece, but that's it.
Not even the LRV is discounted (oof).
Medieval Town Square was showing up for me (US) but then disappeared as I was contemplating pulling the trigger. But I'm okay with it.
For Ninjago fans in the US, 71818 Tournament Battle Arena for $30 is a great deal. That's less than 5 cents PPP, and it has great characters and several fun play features. My son got it for Christmas last year and loved it.
42181 VTOL at 40% Off is a MUST BUY for anyone who doesn't have it. I HIGHLY recommend folks consider this. Also, I love the message board and at 40% Off, I will definitely get at least one more.
10332. This is when a grey goat is not equivalent to a white with brown spots goat!
Would normally get this but I just bought 10305 before it retires (to annoy me, it will probably be on sale next month) and I also got 76453 from amazon at nearly 30% off. Last one on the list before it retires is 71799 - probably at the next double points event.
Argh, 42182 isn't on sale in the US. Sucks, because I'd consider buying it if it was anywhere near reasonably priced, but alas.
That said, 42181 VTOL Spaceship IS on sale in the US, 40% off. The regular price on that wasn't even bad, so $66 for a 1300+ piece, sizeable Technic set with (IIRC) good reviews is a solid deal.
Speaking of deals, Costco US now has 21362 Mineral Collection for $48.99. Not that much of a discount, but still a more fitting price for that set IMO.

I was convinced the Medieval Town Square had released earlier this year... but it was actually early 2024... but still seems a short life span for a non-mainline set...
Hopefully this and the Lion's castle retiring means they're clearing the shelves for a new official castle set next year...

Website says sale prices are valid 10/7-10/13 so grab em while you can. The one set I was planning to get is already on backorder.

Unfortunately, not on sale in the UK! 42180, the rover, is; but that doesn't appeal.
I'm kinda tempted by the LRV, but it's another rather big vehicle while I'm already short on display space for the sets I have yet to build...
And well it is available from other retailers at the same price, so no hurry.
Already got the Blacktron Renegade at 30% off from Lego earlier in the year. I’d have bought the Medieval Town Square, but I definitely don’t need another one. None of the others interest me much.
I don’t need Outlaw Forest Den, I don’t need Outlaw Forest Den, I don’t need Outlaw Forest Den…

Hey, that's my shtick! And I'm currently saying that for all the sets! :o)
I already own two Blacktron Renegades but at that price am tempted to pick up another. Such a great set. Really hope they continue the remakes of classics space sets.
There are some fantastic deals in there. My big splurge was 75583. The kids will not expect that one coming for sure...
Sadly looks like no discount on the Renegade in the U.S. :( I was hoping to maybe pick up a second one to build the alt build and have some Blacktron-esque parts left over, so maybe I'll wait a little longer and see if the U.S. discounts catch up.
The Trotting Lantern might be worth picking up though... it didn't really win me over the way previous years' Lunar New Year sets had, but at a discount it might still be worth adding to the collection.

Yes
@Wallace_Brick_Designs: when was the Renegade available for 30% off before now?
60433 and 71478 are finally going to be mine!
43251 Antonio's Animal Sanctuary, 41839 Message Board, and Brickbeard poster secured!

Check again on 10332 Medieval Town Square. I just ordered it from the U.S.
Dreamzzz fans rejoice! Tons of sets including the lovely Castle Nocturnia are on sale in the UK!

Hopefully the retiring section lasts a bit longer after how extreme 75419 was. With more retailers stocking lego, many systems sets will probably still sort of be on shelves
I have a bad habit of buying cheap used copies of sets early in their life cycles without boxes, instructions or minifigs and then deciding I actually really do want the set new in box with minifigs and instructions when the set is on sale and retiring.
Also, Pokemon sets from Mega Construx are on sale. Get them while you can, before the crappy overpriced anti-consumer Pokemon sets from Lego kick them off the market next year!
The Mattel Brick Shop Mercedes 300SL is on sale too.
Even if 10355 isn't on sale in the US, it's still retiring at the end of the year, so I really wish I had the space for it. But I've got little enough display space and a big enough backlog as it is.
Happy to have picked up a second copy of 10332 Medieval Town Square - it’s a good set but I’ve wanted to beef-up the buildings with a second copy. 20% off, a few points, and a Ghost GWP to trade/sell made this a good deal.
Most of these sets you could get cheaper online before.
Just got the Medieval Town Square off of amazon while it was on sale
I am so happy I waited
So it's like 220usd, but because of tax and all that it goes up to 250, but with patience I got it for 193usd

October 1st sets will be available for at least a year. BDP sets won't be charged for for about another year, so with 30-40% discounts now is the time to buy those overpriced sets that haven't been selling very well.
I'm kicking myself for buying 40755 and 75385 when they were only 30% off, like a couple months ago I think?
I wish the Onyx Cinder was on sale in Canada, because I've been waiting for an excuse to pick that up.
Poor Travel Moments is begging for a 50% discount and a new life with a parts collector so those vehicles never roll off the production line.
… are they adding more each day? I could swear there were only four pages of sales before, and that the Logan Dreamzzz set wasn’t in the sale.

You can get them even cheaper by stealing them, or by imagining that you already have them. I threw away my imaginary Misters Gold, I'm sick of the damned things.
In fairness though, this site does frequently report on discounts from outside sources as well.
Really wanted the spaceships (Blacktron Renegade and Onyx Cinder) because I need my Space nostalgia and Skeleton Crew was SO GOOD…but disappointed neither are on sale in the US.

Speaking of which, am I the only one who finds it *very* questionable how Lego buys 5-star reviews by sending free sets to various "influencers"? You can see it with every set that's gotten a less-than-stellar reception, they still has 4+ stars on the site, but nearly half the reviews (in this case 11 out of 29) are such worthless "Received complementary product" ones. Sure, they're supposed to give an honest opinion, but many seems to neglect value-for-money (since they got it for free), and appears to believe (whether true or not) that a high rating will increase their chance of getting more freebies later.
It's the same with the infamous 10362 French Cafe (sitting next to last on the Icons "sort by recommended" listing), it still has 4 1/2 stars, but 19 of the 44 reviews are such stuffed 5 star ones. This really undermines the credibility of the entire user feedback system and will probably hurt Lego in the long run.
How many I have to pray, how I have to appeal them, please not to retire some of the EOL sets for this year? At least let chains produce these for another year. Many are iconic and best-sellers. I don't understand LEGO's plans.
I like the medieval town, and another more, I can´t buy all of them this year.
Why are retiring good sets with only 2 year of life??

This is the level of research I admire.
User feedback management:
‘just tell them what they want to hear upstairs people and no one gets hurt.’
I want the Blacktron set but it's not discounted in the US? Really...

There's also a sidebar that will tell you if any of the sets on your wanted list are discounted on amazon.

I didn't want to point that out. I do not want to sponsor or bring attention to famous creepy guy, Jeff Bezos - but yes, that is one of the outside sources I meant.
This doesn't make us friends, Bezos. We will never be friends, you moon-creep. Keep your distance, and the moon isn't far enough.
Got 42182 when it was £104.75 on Amazon.
Was really hoping for a nice offer on the Orient Express before it retires!
75380-1 at 40% off is about the price it should've been in the first place, and even though I said to myself "no more Star Wars", well here I go again!
Topped it up to free delivery with some custom mini-figs..
