That treasure chest wouldn't be opening mid-hoist if you hadn't tried to lift it by the lid like that, guys.

Oh the golden coins! Remember the good old 90’s?

By in New Zealand,

I always quite like Imperial fortresses and outposts. I want the Pirates theme back.

Also doesn’t help when you swing it around like a wrecking ball.

Here the infamous Candyman is seen disguised as the soldier wielding the crane. Also known as "Sweet!" (exclamation mark included), he's gleefully distributing candy to the men below - bringing a smile to all of their faces. Except for that one guy with the cannon, who has noticed that the contents of that chest are not, in fact, sweets, but the treasure they're supposed to be guarding from the pirates. Having caught on to his fellow soldier's incompetency, he wonders whose side the Candyman is really on, and makes the hard decision to fire the cannon, not at the pirate captain, but upon his own fort....

By in United States,

I was so excited for the return of Pirates, I bought 3 of these.

This is one of the most nostalgic sets for me that I never owned. 2009 was a great year for Lego.

By in Canada,

Eyyy! This was my first proper set! I remember building this one so many times I could do it without the instructions. All those parts are scattered to the winds by now but man did I love that thing.

By in Turkey,

The effort is there but I don't get the "classic" vibe from it. The animals are oldschool, that's something...

By in France,

I really have never understood the second hand price of this set. It's so high for a few bricks. Army builders maybe

By in Canada,

Miss those monkeys...no, seriously they were great with: those four 'hands', the tail, and so on. I mean, yes, the newer ones are more 'realistic', but these were more 'fun'.

As for the rest of 'the Fort', it's great too.:)

By in United Kingdom,

Always appreciate a modular set up in a build like this. Lets you reconfigure shape and set up and, without much difficulty, let me combine it with 70412 when that set rolled around for an even bigger harbour town vibe

By in Finland,

They really skimped on that big flag, didn't they? Instead of using the classic large 6x5 version of the ABS flag piece (2525) with print, they used that crummy bendy plastic (which doesn't really even feel like LEGO, does it?).

By in Poland,

2009 was around the time I entered my dark ages, so I completely missed this set and the theme. Shame, because it looks like a worthy successor to the 90s pirates.

Yes, but I don't remember them extending as far as 2009.

Well the big flag is about $10 used, then there is the palm tree, the monkey, the cannon, the lamp post which are all $3-4 each, and the six figures that vary from about $5-10 and a bit more with the spare epaulettes.

By in Czechia,

Just bought and built this one a couple of weeks ago. It didn’t really touch my heart (I’m more of a 90s guy), so I’ll probably let it go.

By in United Kingdom,

Great outpost with lots of play-ability for a small piece count. Although probably dwarfed by 6243 . Just realised the end Technic bricks allow you to move the tower so that you could have a flat quayside for 6243 .

By in Netherlands,

I have a soft spot for this one, eve though its design is a bit bland despite the variety of stuff featured.

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

For all the faults the 2009 wave had, this outpost is still one of the best in the whole Pirates theme.

It came in like a wrecking ball.....
(sorry for the awful earworm, but I couldn't resist making the connection!)

By in Belgium,

Blimey, I just logged in to comment thinking this was another BDP submission being presented here and wanting to say how much I like it, how much it is a real play set, simple and nimble, but does everything right, could be a real Lego set! Sigh.

Pirates 2009 was a white whale for me

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The scale problem persists today. The 21322 Barracuda dwarfs the 10320 Eldorado Fortress and now the 10365 Black Pearl is even bigger! The 31132 Viking longship is also massive compared to the 21343 Village.

I miss affordable Pirates sets so dang much.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I wish Lego had released another set or two that could connect to this. It was already modular, so missed opportunity by Lego.

Sure, make all of us who were kids when the original Pirates sets came out feel old.
