An Interesting Idea: LEGO City 2080

Posted by ,

Perhaps LEGO Mecha are overplayed, especially within the LEGO Ideas project offerings, but I really dig the novel approach that Plumb is taking to their LEGO City 2080 campaign.

These "blockhead bots" have this nice industrial feel and I like how the color formats work well to express the purpose of each.

It is not exactly obvious from most of the pictures but the "box" on top of each bot hinges open at the side revealing a space just big enough for a minifig.

Not really my thing. I like my modern, early 21st Century City. Interesting for a planet in space though...

I like this project - just supported it a minute ago after reading this here. The concept is neat, and the use of colors and parts that go with each robot's purpose is well done.

Yes! I remember these from way back. I'd like to see more actual futuristic City vehicles, though. Futuristic without being annoyingly cyberpunk. Actually, LEGO should just have a theme called Future City. That way we could have double the number of police and fire sets in any given year!

I can't IMAGINE anyone on here, or any other enthusiast site, not liking that. Amiright or amiright?!?

Sing it with me! POLICE AND FIRE FOREVER!!!

Isn't future city the Ultra Agents line?

@Dedgecko: Sort of. It's a future Crime-Fighting Unit.

I suitably child-friendly use of robots - I like it. Does seem to have by-passed Lego's requirement that the Ideas site "cant accept projects that propose a series of products or a playtheme". The minifigure legs used as robot arms works well.

It's a cool idea, but i rather love building a city of the 21th century :)
