NINJAGO: Rise of the Ninja update coming to Fortnite on December 11th!

Posted by ,

Fans have long wondered about the possibility of NINJAGO content in LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Battle Royale, with much speculation over the past two years. Now that moment is finally almost here, with a huge update arriving on December 11th!

You can watch the trailer, and find out more, after the break...

Hone your skills as a Ninja and defend NINJAGO Island from invading monsters! LEGO Fortnite Odyssey’s NINJAGO: Rise of the Ninja goes live December 11. On NINJAGO Island, you can explore, master ELEMENTAL abilities, and learn Spinjitzu as the story evolves. The story continues in a second NINJAGO update in 2026!

Set out as the ELEMENTAL Masters of ICE, LIGHTNING, and EARTH — Zane, Jay, and Cole — with their Outfits in the Shop. These three characters, plus Kai in the NINJAGO LEGO Pass, have life-size battle-ready forms for the first time. Check out their Fortnite Styles in non-LEGO games to see for yourself.

You’ll begin your journey at the Monastery, which is your “home base.” To ensure a happy fate for the island, you’ll be sent on a journey around the map to the ICE, LIGHTNING, and EARTH Sanctums. Become a student of these abilities and sharpen them for the final showdown.

In addition to the ELEMENTS, take up Spinjitzu from a Spinjitzu Scroll and the new Nunchucks and Shurikens weapons to combat enemies!

NINJAGO LEGO Pass

When you purchase the NINJAGO LEGO Pass, you’ll auto-unlock the Kai Outfit. As you progress in the Pass, unlock three Builds as premium rewards:

Give your Builds some Ninja flair on the inside — the NINJAGO LEGO Pass also has free and premium Decor Bundles.

You’re built for this. Rise to the challenge in NINJAGO: Rise of the Ninja and prepare for a bigger battle to come.

While the monetization scheme of the cosmetics are questionable, I do think the core gameplay of Fortnite's in-house modes (Battle Royale, Odyssey, Festival, etc.) is solid and fun enough to overlook that aspect of the game. It will be interesting to see these characters in a non-lego form for the first time!

You can tell Legos running out of ideas when they start turning a Lego original theme into live action

I was genuinely surprised to see that 3 of the 4 ninja are locked behind the store. Hopefully they're both good skins enough to buy, and of a good value. Otherwise I'm probably gonna have to stick with battle pass Kai.

I think this is kind of cool. Reminds me of the mid-2000s when we would get more “realistic” anime versions of the Knights Kingdom and Exo-Force characters. There’s an even older precedent with that old Pirates comic. :)

I can’t imagine what context it would happen in, but I think it would be fun to get fleshie figure versions of the Ninjago characters with these designs, or even mini-dolls.

But I’ll never touch Fortnite, lol.

As an avid player of the game I'm really excited for this. The rumors that we might also get Wu, Nya, and Lloyd in January are also exciting. I do feel like they did Kai's hair style wrong as it is not spiked up in any way.
I'm also not so sure how I feel about Jay's Lego style, it feels to rogue-like (no pun intended)

The live action versions of the characters look like generic costumes.

Why must they mock us with that long-retired hood piece?

Awesome, this looks fun!

I’d still love to see an actual minifig-style skin in Battle Royale (somehow), but that’s probably just me. Love the new architecture options, and this looks like a cool way to enjoy more Ninjago content too!
