Speedboat

©2006 LEGO Group

Today's random set is 7610 Speedboat, released during 2006. It's one of 21 Creator sets produced that year. It contains 18 pieces.

It's owned by 268 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $17.00, or eBay.

So should a minifig sit in this, or is it miniscale? It's actually a little difficult to tell. I want to say it's miniscale because of the dual motors, but you could also absolutely fit a minifig in it.

By in Australia,

I had this.

This came out during the period of Lego's manufacturing with bad blues. A few years later, I was sorting through my collection, found this speedboat, and all the blue tiles and plates had turned dark blue, and were really brittle. I remember I had to buy modern pieces to replace them.

Feels like the maritime equivalent of Power Wheels, so designed to look like an adult-sized vehicle, but in a much smaller size that kids can operate…and is probably running on lantern batteries or something.

17 Dollars for 18 common pieces? And not even a minifig, let alone a desirable one?
Something does not compute.

EDIT: just checked on BL, the cheapest available offer of New(Sealed) is about 5 Dollars, and even the most expensive one is 15 Dollars. Also, the last 6 months sale average for this set in New condition is about 10 Dollars.
@Huw : it's a phenomenon I have seen quite often, that the supposed BL price/value for sets (both new and used) shown on Brickset is wildly different from the actual data on BL. How is that?

By in United Kingdom,

This looks like the sort of boat Benny would drive if he wanted a break from SPACESHIPS for a bit

It's Lego scale, which is to say, it's completely messed up and inconsistent.

Don't you mean... deja blue?

It's obvious from looking at the pieces that were used that it doesn't even float its own.

By in Netherlands,

Apparently it was included in the 66208 Mr Magorium's big book product collection. I completely forgot about that ever since I saw it on Lego.com back in the day.

I wonder how many of those polybags were basically exclusive to it. A few of them I own because I encountered them, but many I barely recognise.

I only made the deja vu comment because he posted the same comment twice - the blue is a nice pun though :)
