I don't know, is Frodo even known to cook anything? I know in the movies he doesn't seem to; that's more of Sam's thing. I suppose he could cook for Bilbo so that he doesn't forget to eat and starve while writing his adventures with the Dwarves or something.

By in New Zealand,

The average New Zealand kitchen looks a little nicer than that, but it's cute nonetheless.

Ah, the old flower and stem pieces. How nostalgic.

They're Hobbits. Food is like 90% of their culture

and that's when they're only feeling mildly peckish.

By in United States,

Why are there flowers growing out of the floor?

By in United States,

I have this set. Nice way to get that Frodo minifig from 9469.

By in United Kingdom,

Sounds like a YouTube video. "Sup fans, its ya boy Frodo, here with another cooking corner. Don't forget to smash those like and subscribe buttons!"

I brought loads of these back from the USA in July 2012 for UK Brickset forum users. Then a few months later it was a newspaper freebie.

"And while we slowly roast this soss, I'm going to put down one bottle of alcohol over the open fire while I turn my attention to the nearby keg in my continued and endless quest to get rip-roaringly drunk. This may well be the very last episode of Frodo's Cooking Corner, Frodo Baggins, signing off."

This was a nice little polybag to add a few items to inside of Bag End, back when it was the original line.

To be fair, all the food he has in this set is one sausage. Don’t Hobbits have to eat five times their body weight per day? Dude’s probably about to suck the nectar out of those flowers so he doesn’t starve to death while waiting for the sausage to cook.

No worries, there's a big barrel of brown beer ready, so they'll survive.

Yes. And I even remember seeing 'bins' of them when my nearest Toy R Us was closing down.

Such a cute little polybag. I wish it was available over here. Back then, and now for a not overpriced aftermarket price.

Wish that had been the case at my nearest TRU, I'd have bought loads for the torso alone. Great for fantasy civilians!

$4 for Frodo and some decent side builds. The least expensive way to get Frodo now is for $270 in The Shire 10354...

I believe I picked up a few of these through the newspaper offer. I don’t think I opened them all so should still have a sealed one or two.

By in Poland,

That was the only unexpensive way for me to obtain a Frodo minifigure. I paid around 40 PLN ($10) some ten years after the release.

Second breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Or use bricklink to buy this Frodo for about £5, or the sealed set for about £10.

By in Hungary,

The only LotR set I could afford. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I thought this was a new LOTR polybag announcement, and my heart leapt.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I did think about buying this set when it turned up on a stall at a local car boot sale shortly after I finally made a point of watching the Lord of the Rings movies (which, for context, was about fifteen years after they first released...!); the set was cheap and still sealed in bag, and I thought it could be fun to have at least a little piece of the Lego theme now that I was actually interested in the franchise.

I didn't go for it in the end, though. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but this Frodo minifigure didn't quite do it for me; if it had been a version of him wearing his main outfit from the movies, I would likely have made the opposite decision, but this one was onscreen for too little time for me to feel any particular attachment to it, at least as someone who at the time had only watched the movies once.

I admit I also didn't understand why the minifigure didn't have the hobbits' characteristic bare feet, although I suppose it would take another decade before any of the hobbit minifigures got that feature...!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Don’t own many of the original LOTR sets, but I made it my goal to own the polybags from the theme. I like this one for the Frodo minifig since I don’t have the set with Gandalf and the cart.

Yeah, I don't think they were doing dual-molding back then.

I got this.....

"For Frodo."

Gravatar
By in United States,

There is absolutely no demand for this but because it has a LOTR minifig it’s still artificially inflated secondhand

"My dear Frodo… Please bring me a sausage and some beer so that I can find the inspiration to finish my book."

"My dear Frodo… don't ever let any Dwarves in, or they'll empty your kitchen!"

"My dear Frodo… I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread. This is my most valuable piece of culinary advice: never skimp on butter!"

By in Switzerland,

So the barrel is just resting on top of the 2x3 and is not fixed down.

Quite interesting, you would have to balance it between the two lines of studs not to roll.

This came out in 2012. The Superboy from 5004076 had printed short sleeves, so no dual-molding going into 2014. But in May of 2014, the Simpsons 1 CMFs gave us our first dual-molded arms and legs. But even then, for short legs, it was one color for shorts and shoes, with a second color only on the knees, as seen on 71005-2. It took another four years for Dobby from 71022-10 to get top/bottom dual-molded short legs, and it would be another five years after that before they’d make their first of four appearances cladding every Hobbit in a Middle Earth set starting with 10316. So no, they weren’t ready in time for this set.

For Therlingas!"

That was "Forth, Eorlingas," not "For Therlingas." Anyway for the Shire.
