Amazon discount tracker not working

Posted by ,

You may have noticed that the usual automated Amazon discount articles have not been posted over the last few days and the dedicated page has not been working either.

Unfortunately, resolving this kind of issue is beyond my abilities and Huw is not available to do so at the moment, but hopefully it will be easily rectified when he returns.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

By in Sweden,

I was literary just about to start looking around for an answer about this, or if it was just on my side. Refreshed the page and this popped up. Perfect timing! Thanks for the info.

Haha been trying to figure this out, got into using Brickset recently for the wantlist/deals tracker and news, and then was like "oh no more deals I guess."

Hopefully its something simple. Thanks for everything you guys do.

How are we supposed to fill the pockets of one of the poorest people in the world now :(.

I really don't understand why people even buy there, oftentimes the discounts are just copies from other stores and the website itself looks so outdated and unorganised, not to mention it's destroying impact on local economies and the climate, and poor working conditions

Agreed.

I would far rather walk in to town and support the high street and physical shops than scamazon.

And the same discounts can so often be found at Smyths, John Lewis etc...

I’m hardly a fan, but the Amazon plugin to this site works better than anyone else’s. Argos deals are usually only available on one tiny island in the outer Hebrides.

I don’t much fancy a couple of hours walk to my local Smyths, to be treated like a scalper by the staff the way I was last time I went, during a sale.

And I’ve given up on John Lewis since they use Evri for delivery.

Bezos doesn’t just win on price, his drivers don’t yeet my parcels over a fence.

I’ll make sure to thank Huw at Bricktastic :)

Try Very.
I did a few months ago. Time it right and the discounts match Amazon, plus you can get an extra 30% discount on first orders at times ;-)
Always a bit of a gamble with couriers though.

We buy our life staples locally. We buy our LEGO wherever we can most afford it.

Most of the time Bol.com and Amazon indeed have the exact same prices, and usually I'll order at Bol then. Or if there's no or just a small difference, I'll just go to my local Intertoys. But sometimes there are substantial diffences. Or one can deliver the next day, while the other take much longer. I do try to avoid them, but not at all cost.

No issue with their website (Bol isn't any better, and don't get me started on Lego.com....), nor with their customer service though. Thanks to DHL screwing up, I recently got two 75416 for the price of one (and already discounted to €60). Jeff will surely feel that in his wallet!

By in United States,

I've only used it once or twice, so it not being there doesn't really affect me, but I know a lot of other people use it more than I do. If I buy Lego from a big retailer, almost guaranteed it's Walmart. (When I could still get out and about on my own, Target got a decent amount of my Lego money, too.)

Do you want to make it worse?! That guy might end up breaking half the site's functionality!

@BrickmanNL said:"...and the website itself looks so outdated and unorganised..."

I placed an order (which didn't include any Lego, but *did* include the four Bionicle movies, because my copies had been stolen) and I accidentally ended up ordering two of some items, because at one point, the cart icon said zero items, so, thinking everything had been removed, I went and re-added everything. I didn't double-check the cart before I placed the order, and ended up getting two of some items.

The thing is, it’s the integration with my Brickset wishlist that works so well for me. It highlights the deals as they pop up, but it also helps me stick to my list and not buy deals just because they’re deals.

I have browsed Very, but it gives me that mindless feeling, like when you’ve spent too long in IKEA…

I encourage everyone to think about who they are giving money to. Is worth making a deal with scumbags so that you can save a few dollars?

I ordered a Nintendo Switch 2 and some Lego sets from John Lewis in December and January. All arrived safely via Royal Mail.

Exactly, for me is very useful, and usually when high discounts pop up means that other of the possible stores in my country are having the same discounts, and not only for small sets but also for bigger or exclusives that are not in Amazon. Or I can check other countries for better discounts than mine, at a minimal tax and delivery fee.

By in United Kingdom,

I would love it if Smyths/John Lewis/Very made their discounts easier to find and keep track of. I would also love it if Argos was more likely to have stock in my general area (the offer on 76999 has been taunting me for awhile). I respect people who choose to spend money away from Amazon’s evil empire, though. It *is* the correct moral choice you’re making.

That being said partly the reason the Amazon sales widget is useful is they can be an indication of sales elsewhere, and so they can be handy along with the integration with Brickset’s wanted list even without actually buying from Amazon. Although obviously the flaw there is that Brickset doesn’t benefit from the affiliate link.
