I just found out that the Last Ronin storyline concluded, um...a certain Turtle dies, and then four new Turtles are mutated and basically take over for the first group as protectors of NYC. Oh yeah, plus superpowers.

Man, that grimace, doesn't look like a real party dude at all

LOOK EVERYBODY, IT'S 'THE LAST RONIN'...:D

Funny enough, called that before Eastman and Laird: I have a TMNT/Heroes Unlimited/Ninjas and Superspies TTRPG campaign where the heroes found out about a program taking four college/university students (and turtles, 'ironically':)), and though intense physical and mental training, turned 'em into a 'strike team'...unfortunately, one of the four was a 'sleeper agent', and wiped out the other three and their trainer...I was gonna code name him 'Hardcore':D

That's a really cool torso design.

Delivery Man: [searching for Michaelangelo's address] OK, 122... 122 1/8? 122 1/8. Terrific. Where the heck is 122 1/8?
Michaelangelo: [through the sewer grate] You're standing on it, dude! Just pass it down here!
[the Delivery Man passes pizza through the grate, and $10 is passed up]
Delivery Man: Gimme that!... Hey, this is a $10! The tab's $13!
Michaelangelo: You're two minutes late, dude!
Delivery Man: Oh, come on, I couldn't find the place!
Michaelangelo: Wise man say: "Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza."

There are times I really regret not picking up a lot of these TMNT sets from this series. They were pretty good. But... need to draw the line somewhere. Lack of Rocksteady and Bebop really held me back too.

I especially liked the villains.

The current IDW-reboot is surprisingly good, combining a messy load of drift and clashing origins into something solid and coherent.

Let's see that run in LEGO format.

It's a pretty cool storyline. Just got the NECA figures of those four Turtles.

The 'current' reboot is a continuation of the reboot that started waaaaay back in 2011, just with a different numbering. It's the longest continuous piece of TMNT media, unless you count of all of the Mirage Comics runs from 1984 to 2009, but there were some major gaps and non-canon issues in-between, including the (incomplete) Image run. The IDW ongoing series indeed has some really good decompressed storytelling to it, but it takes its sweet time to resolve things. I doubt we'll ever see it represented in LEGO form, but you never know.

The theme was based exclusively on the 2012 series and the 2014 live-action film. Bebop and Rocksteady never appeared in that film duo, and didn’t show up in the Nick series until after the LEGO theme was cancelled due to losing the license. The villains were massively underrepresented in that theme just due to the timing of it all. For mutants they had Dogpound and Fishface as the only regular villains (and one of those got mutated a second time after the theme ended). Spider Bytez was the only other villain mutant. And Leatherhead and Kirby O’Neil were the only other protagonistic mutants. Baxter Stockman is mutated into a fly in everything he appears in, but the only minifig we got of him was an unmutated human.

If the theme had continued long enough, I’m sure they both would have received minifigs. Rocksteady first appeared in Ep1.20, while Bebop didn’t show up until Ep2.20. However, they both got mutated in Ep3.11, which didn’t air until March 2015. The final wave of animated sets released in April 2104, almost a year earlier, and the film trio concluded the theme in July 2014.

I wish they would have done Leo and Raph in this same torso style as well.

Showing my age, but was hoping the sets would continue long enough to get more of the 1987 show characters :)

I did like the 79121 Leatherhead figure a lot. Came close to picking him up to be my Killer Croc, but I already had his big fig.

Do you have https://brickset.com/minifigs/sh0321/killer-croc-with-blue-pants-and-claws or https://brickset.com/minifigs/sh0280/killer-croc-with-sand-blue-pants? If it's the former, than you need no other Killer Croc. "I did something!"

The later. I prefer how he looks a little more human like the older comics, and the set had Cpt Boomerang and Katana. I missed out on the Movie version since I was concentrating on collecting a lot of the "they haven't made this guy!" figures. But, Leatherhead came out way before hand, when we only had Mini-fig scale 7780, which was a disappointment for a Killer Croc figure.

I have two each of the 2006 minifig, the movie bigfig, and the other bigfig, but I found nobody really recognizes him as Killer Croc if I put the other bigfig out (someone thought he was Marvel’s Abomination). I picked up a third Leatherhead and put different legs on him to use as an optional Croc, plus I made minifigs of the entire first live action Suicide Squad roster.
