For the last few years Botanical gifts with purchase have been offered at LEGO.com during the spring. Accordingly, 40916 Floral Picture Frame is available this week, free with purchases over $150 / £135 / €150.
It's slightly different to the others in that it's a functional item rather than just a display piece.

The model comprises an intricate and colourful botanical display and a picture frame which can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation. It has 1x2 hinges at the back, one at the centre of all four sides, to hold the photo in place.
The aperture is 143x95mm (5 and10/16ths x 3 and 3/4 inches) which does not match standard photo sizes, so you'll most likely need to trim whatever picture you might display in it.
An impressive six species of plants are crammed onto the base, which as a result looks very colourful.
The set has over 300 pieces and, although many are small elements that make up the flowers, there is also a good number of large plates and tiles too. Even if you're not that enamoured with the frame concept, it's a decent botanical parts pack, containing dozens of flower heads and crowns with which to concoct your own blooms or enhance your existing arrangements.
So, don't hesitate, place an order at LEGO.com to secure it before it's too late!

If you can’t intuitively put a photo in this, then the value of it seems instinctively undermined to me.
Is this the same size as the Christmas frame? If so, it’d be a nice seasonal swap.
Is there anyone out there with some measuring skills. I would assume its easy to make this fit a 6 inch by 4 inch photo. One plate wider, or higher? Is there a neat amount or plates to make a 7 inch x 5 inch etc.
6x4 = 15 x 10 cm == 18.75x12.5 studs
7x5 = 17.7 x 12.7 cm == 22.1 x 15.8 studs

Thank you for actually talking about the photo sizes!
I saw other reviews that simply didn't address it, which seemed odd that they missed out the main feature of the set haha.
Too bad it'll require modifications of an actual photo...
For me, the shock is not that photos don't fit it but that people are having photos printed.
