I suppose the 5% and Skating Scene set is ok if you were going to spend anyway, but how disappointing are those sale items!
Dont you get a free LEGO Calendar with a purchase of $75+?
Going to have to wake up early to try and get the Sopwith Camel, none at my local store for months.
^^The Free Calendar is only at Lego Stores with a $75 purchase.
Better than nothing, going to pick up an AA I think.
Does anyone know what sets will be discounted in the US? I've wanted the Arkham Aslym set for awhile.
^^ http://www.thebrickfan.com has the list of discounts for Lego Shop @Home.
I stayed up last night here in the land of Oz to see the clock strike 12 and see what all the Brick Friday hype was about.
Here is the list of my Brick Friday deals on the Australian Lego Store:
I can (for non-VIPs) get the second winter set if I spend AUD$100 or more.
I need to spend AUD$200 or more to avoid AUD$35 shipping.
No 5% off. Nothing on sale* No bonus points. No point really.
I went to bed.
* Not quite true. Set 21107 Micro World – The End is AUD$5 off, but has been for months. The other sale is an Anakin Skywalker (Podracer Garb) keyring which is half price but you need to call for availability as it seems to be out of stock.
12:05 and no update on the teaser site.
There's also currently 7% cash back from Ebates.com for LEGO ... great deal!

The site is down here... Were the deals that good?
12:18: Brick Fan was correct. Saw the deals, only to have the website crash shortly after...
"Our apologies, we are currently experiencing technical difficulties at shop.lego.com. We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible"
I sure hope so!
Looks like we crashed the site :( I'll give it until 1 a.m. and then I'm off to bed. I'll get the skating scene tomorrow with the leftover deals...
It seems to crash EVERY SINGLE TIME there is a sale...you'd think they'd have better servers to handle the traffic
The deals weren't that good, mostly 10-15% off random sets (maybe 20 newly added total?) under $100. I didn't see any Star Wars per se. The TRU 50% off Galaxy Squad sets seems to be of a higher caliber sale, even though I'm not interested in that theme.
Site down in UK as well....Service as normal then!
Site is up folks, 5% is handy for those sets that never seem to be discounted :)
15% on Horizon Express which has sold out and 15% on the Sopwith Camel which is not available right now (call to check availability) and maybe also sold out. Weird kind of savings :p
By Magpie9 in United Kingdom not United States.
This is Lego's best ever sale, I've saved a couple hundred pounds today. No Arkham Asylum, No Horizon Express, No Sopwith Camel and not a penny spent. Way to go Lego!
Lego UCS X-Wing (10240) is currently £135.99 on Argos - thats £8.50 cheaper than the Lego Black Friday deal.
Just ordered part of my kids Christmas gifts. Thought it was also 2x points till after checking out and seeing it wasnt. Oh well...
Just checked out the New Zealand store. I can get the skating scene if I spend $120. Alas I will need to spend $400 to qualify for free shipping.
Well I just use the normal shipping rates:
Order Value (New Zealand Dollars) Standard Delivery Charge
NZD 0.00 - NZD 25.00 NZD 40.00
NZD 25.01 - NZD 100.00 NZD 50.00
NZD 100.01 - NZD 175.00 NZD 60.00
NZD 175.01 - NZD 250.00 NZD 70.00
NZD 250.01 - NZD 399.99 NZD 80.00
NZD 400.00+ FREE
Oh Wait, no... thanks for nothing LEGO ;-(
^^
btw, I wonder how those shipping rates compare to other countries? ie, a $25 set costing $40 to ship?
Shipping is always free over here as soon as the order value is over 50 euros. That would be about 80 NZD. If the order value is below that it's about 10NZD for shipping. Guess at times it's practical to live in a small country (Belgium).
Thanks for the insight Scaramanga. Would be good to hear from people in other countries too, so maybe a table of "the expensiveness of LEGO" could be constructed.
And I hear you on the small country comment, I'm originally from Austria but we/they only got a physical LEGO store after I left. ;-(
SWEDEN:
"FESTIVE OFFERS!**
• FREE EXCLUSIVE GIFT!
• 5% OFF YOUR TOTAL ORDER!
Hurry! Offers end 1st December!"
YEAH...right....pass!
Here in Belgium most stores are currently running half decent promos on Lego. The stores that stock only a small low-value range (<€50) are offering 3 for 2 or buy one get one half price on everything, including extra discounts of up to 50% on certain sets, while other stores that carry a bigger range are offering up to 20% off. The official Lego offer just doesn't come close, though if you want the exclusive set I suppose any discount is better than nothing. Still, as 'Black Friday' deals go, I can see why many are disappointed.
Very disappointing deals from Lego.
Black Friday is supposed to have the WOW factor, isn't it?
It's got to the point where there is no point in buying Lego from Lego. Like previous comments, even with those sales it's cheaper elsewhere at any other time.
The free gifts sometimes sound appealing but if you shop around and just ebay that gift then you still end up saving money.
World's greatest toy with the world's worst offers!!!
whilst the offers are poor from lego this year still good value on other items depending on what you are buying - Took the opportunity to stock on Minfigures to wrap and place on the tree, buy my girlfriends present and myself a few bricks to do an upgrade on the Horizon Express and then get a free skating scene as well. Great deal if you ask me!
On top of the same specials, today Lego North America is having free delivery no minimum spending and free Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Flashback Shredder when buying something from the NMNT theme, and free super heroes Jor-El polybag from super heroes theme!!! So people are buying 2 key rings!!! Talk about being ripped off in UK again.
In the Swiss L @H shop you need to spend CHF100 for the 'free' set, that's the same as for the previous 'free' winter set. Spend more than CHF150 and you get 5% off.
Problem is, I don't really know what to spend it on: from the sets listed for 'Europe', we only get the discount for the Duplo train set (not interested). There are a very few sets with a little discount (e.g., 42024 , 75043 are CHF10 off, which is about 12%), but none that interest me.
The only reason I buy from LEGO is to get the freebies. Yes, you may be able to get it cheaper on ebay, but no guarantees. You will have to watch sales. And in times when you don't want to miss out, I'd rather get it right away directly from the source. But only if I'm going to be picking up certain sets anyway and they are of equivalent pricing as some other stores.
I haven't paid attention to this year's winter sets on ebay, but I know 2 years ago when I missed out, they were going for way more than I wanted to spend, so "free" can be worth it.
Also, the minifigure add-on is a nice bonus. I didn't want to spend $75 back in May or whenever, so a keychain for Shredder, paid for by VIP is pretty nice. Granted, I'd love another shot at Darth Revan!
WOW!! What fantastic sales TLG! Most store are doing 40-60% off selected stock and you can only manage 5!!!?
What a disappointment! Lego, all you had to do was provide the same offers as last Friday's VIP early access deals (which I missed), and you could have made quite a sale. I had planned to buy my first modular set if they offered double VIP points along with the free shipping and second Christmas set.
I did go for the deal last weekend and I am glad that I did.
Was afraid that it was gonna be better deals this time. It wasn't.
Toys r us in Sweden have 25% on all toys today. That is a much better deal. If you spend 500kr on lego you'll get a bricktober building. Let's hope the January deals at Lego shop is something.
Brick Friday is a little joke I think.
I visited a store this morning, got the Fairground Mixer so I could get all the freebies. The calendar, Skating Rink set, and a little tub of bricks to build a Santa was an exclusive in store giveaway, so that was pretty cool. The only sets that were discounted were a couple Lego movie and Ninjago sets, so that was disappointing.
While talking on other stores:
Target had 4 $70 sets for $42 - likely sold out.
TRU had 2 sets from $55 to $35 (MSRP $50).
K-Mart had 40% off 2 Lego City and Friends sets but a mere 5% off the rest. 25%, and you'd have more sales, silly store.
Walmart had the normal big bucket set for $30, though has the Treehouse for $24.88.
The Cyber Monday deals are available online at shop.lego.com, at least for US customers.
