Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random figure is sw0287 Shahan Alama, a Star Wars figure that came in one set, 8128 Cad Bane's Speeder, released during 2010.

You don’t recognize him? It’s probably because of the gold arm
Is this Glob Shitto?
I think I own this guy. I know I got at least one set with Cad Bane and his floppy hat, and I don’t think it was the Clone Turbo Tank. I also somehow ended up with at least four extra hats, one of which now has a busted antistud (dark-brown). For the rest, I discovered that Bane’s hat may be the only other hat besides the basic top hat that the Snowman CMF can wear.
That time when the Random Set and "Figure" of the Day have overlapping categories.
Looks like a figure comprised of random minifig parts from a parts bin.
This guy is wearing Steve Zissou's red beanie, which is based off Jaques Cousteau's actual headwear. So this is inadvertently a Wes Anderson themed minifigure.

Well, probably best it's not the script girl. That sort of thing is why Scala got evicted from the pool.
What a weird Grinch.
Homie looks like he’s been sucking on a lemon.
Glup Shido but since he’s in a rare valuable set people want him
Definitely one of the least memorable of Cad Bane’s little crew from this story. I remember Aurra Sing because the writers seemed to love her and kept reusing her, I remember the little cyborg fish dude because of his kooky design, this guy clearly did not leave an impression for him to have vanished from my recollection

No, it’s Shahan Alama. An easy mistake to make though.

Sing made an appearance in Ep1. Even if she didn't actually do anything, she was made out to be some major player in the profession. And remember that, aside from Fett, none of the bounty hunters that appear in Ep5 actually do anything on-screen in the OT. At least one of them was just a statue that couldn't do much more than stand there or fall over. So, there was definitely a push to make her equivalent to the lineup from the Executor, and there were quite a few uses of the character around the time the first PT film opened.

In the film she’s just some bystander in the pod racing crowd, no hint she’s even a bounty hunter never mind a major player. They just liked the design so later reused in when they needed more mercenaries for Clone Wars

No, there was definitely a marketing push before the film released, on the basis that she was a bounty hunter. People were actually disappointed to see that all she did in the movie was stand there and watch the race, unlike Zam Wessell having a significant role in Ep2.

She'd made other EU appearances before Clone Wars came along.

She wasn't in a crowd, she was watching from a sniper position.
I thought the EU had her as Bobba Fett's mentor.

So did the Clone Wars, for a few episodes in season 2.

According to Wookieepedia, she featured in six consecutive issues of the Star Wars comic, dated June through November 1999. So that was all launched off of the media push from Ep1, but she didn’t _do_ anything in Ep1. She was marketed as being up there with the Ep5 lineup, and people expected her to have a key role. If you hadn’t paid any attention to the media leading up to the film’s premiere, you wouldn’t have paid any attention to her.

Yes, but she never lifted that gun. At least the Tuskens took a few shots at the podracers.
"I thought the EU had her as Bobba Fett's mentor."
Baby Fett hooked up with Cad Bane and Aurra Sing during the span covered by one of the animated series, so to some degree, yes, she was a mentor to him.

That's an interesting word choice you went with there...
