Summer LEGO NINJAGO Legends sets unveiled!
Posted by TheBrickPal,NINJAGO's fifteenth anniversary year continues with a few spectacular summer sets unveiled today! These are based on the NINJAGO Legends miniseries, following the two sets released last year.
All three models are incredible, but my absolute favorite has to be 71871 Battle at the Dragon's Blade, which is brilliant in both concept and execution!
The wave will be released on the 1st of June, and you can find images and details after the break...

Love these!
The Twin Titan Mechs finally round out the Titan Mech series with mechs for Kai and Nya (and, presumably, their descendants? I think that's maybe who the two alternate heads/hairpieces represent). Their color schemes remind me fondly of Exo-Force, as do their interchangeable weaponry. Giving the two siblings mechs that form a balanced, complementary pair is a great choice that helps this to stand out from the many other mech sets that have preceded them.
The Battle at the Dragon's Blade is a gorgeous, unique composition, though of the new Ninjago Legends sets this is the one that has the least previous context to judge its story role from.
The Ultra Dragon Battle, on the other hand, has two new takes on very familiar subjects (the Ultra Dragon and Great Devourer). The Devourer in particular is long overdue for a reappearance (never appearing in sets since its debut despite a very significant story role), and while I know some people might've preferred a more articulated, standalone build instead of a display piece like this, I love the way it looks here. The Ultra Dragon looks great too—a bit more human-like in its posture than previous appearances, but it's not a bad design by any means.
It's interesting to see Ninjago transform into a more adult-oriented theme as the fanbase grows up. I guess all of the kids who were buying spinners in 2011 are now adults buying display sets in 2026!
Exo-Force!!
Wait, these are new characters?
I'm glad the Legends subtheme is continuing. It's great that Lego is more and more recognizing the older Ninjago fanbase, and putting out these beautiful works of art.
I know it's been said before, but the minifig outfits for the mecha are very Neon Genesis.
Ultra Dragon Battle set looks like an imagined version of the battle told in legend. Like 100 years after and the story of Ultra Dragon vs great devourer is told and people imagined that the dragon looked like this: A gigachad beast on steroids. Just realised that thats probably the whole point of the set lol
Ok those are clearly Exo-Force mechs the ninjas found and redecorated.
You can’t fool me!
Those are some great Mechs.
“I’m going to fight you with this sword while you’re in a mech wielding a larger sword while we’re standing on a sword that’s even larger still!” is possibly the most sword a Ninjago set has ever been
I wonder how that “humanoid” Ultra Dragon compares to Thunderfang from last year…
Great looking sets, but terrible Ninjago sets. I haven't gotten around to watching the Legends miniseries, so I don't know the context for these sets, but why do they even feel the need to branch out to non-canon Ninjago stories now? Is the main show just that convoluted at this point? (Too bad they won't recognize that's a hint they should end it already.) What's wrong with making proper Legacy sets? If they must be mechs, we never got Garmadon's 4-armed mech from Season 2....
Anyways, between Cloud's sword in last year's sets, now Kai's mech having a long gun on top like a certain Metal Face had, plus characters named "Jin" and "Mira", man, LEGO is really teasing me. C'mon, where's the Xenoblade sets, LEGO? Tell Nintendo to let you do something other than Mario & Co (and AC, and Zelda)!
Meh all the way. Besides the figs.
Can’t say I’m really a fan of any of these. I will get the Titan Mechs to round out that collection. The rest, pass.

I want a Metroid set. I've only played a bit of the original, but a Samus Aran would be cool to get in minifig form.
I like the legends sets a lot.

The Twin Titans mechs are great, but it's another case of a two-pack that should be sold as two sets. The other sets are really polished displays, which is good for AFOL Ninjago fans who like that, but they're not my cup of tea. Still waiting for the new Land Bounty to be unveiled.

It’s funny to think about how Ninjago was originally supposed to end after the Final Battle arc and be replaced with Legends of Chima.

Lego Xenoblade is in the “no way this is gonna happen but I would buy the whole theme day one” category.
When did Ninjago turn into a theme for adult collectors instead of kids?

It didn't? There's still sets aimed at kids. But the demand for sets like these in addition to those grew as the original audience for the theme grew up. Kids who were six to ten years old when the theme first came out are in their twenties now.
I looooove these. Big mechs and dragons! Two of my favourite things!

I can think of at least a few things each from 1, 2, 3 and X that would make for amazing sets, but I really don't think a Xenoblade theme, or even a one-off set, will ever happen, sadly. There are several other Nintendo properties they would do sets for first, but I even believe the chances of something for Metroid or Fire Emblem are slim. We can dream, though…
Final Fantasy has a bit of a chance, but Square Enix is kind of stingy with licensing; there aren't even any Funko Pops. That said, a singular 18+ set for the thirtieth anniversary of Final Fantasy VII next year is in the realm of possibility! My mind jumps to Cloud’s motorcycle, but I'd love anything.
