Why does this Russian need to guard the number 3? I can totally understand guarding the cannibalistic number 7 (seven ate nine, after all!), but why the innocent number 3? It makes no sense.

His only work before Indiana Jones was Sesame Street, and you play to your strengths.

They may have their standards, but if they think they can make money off something, those go out the window.

Also, the Osprey's cancellation due to being a military-adjacent aircraft was a cover story for the bad gearbox....

By in New Zealand,

Yes thank you Huwbot!

This figure holds a special place in my heart. As a kid these guys were always taking parts in huge battles against the random assortment of minifigures I'd opposed them with. The set this guy was in was my fist Indy set which is ranked highest on my nostalgo-meter. I honestly love that face print. Captures the 'Evil Russian' look perfectly.
Over time the arms have become brittle at the wrists and broken. So I had to make a costly bricklink order to replace them. Also I discovered that some of my figures were missing the gold print on the belt and buttons, honestly quite weird, I believe it was from a factory mistake rather than wear overtime. I'm so glad Huwbot chose this guy because of all the childhood memories.

A face only a Russian could love...

And even then, I'm not so sure....

Disagree, personally. I think it’s got some great character to it, you get everything you need to know about the character from that sneer

That he’s an old-timey Hollywood film gangster that appends every question with “see”?

“We’re gonna get that Crystal Skull, see? Ain’t nobody gonna stand in our way, see?”

By in Netherlands,

Fun fact: that's the face used for the 2007 version of Draco Malfoy, only used as such in the Order of the Phoenix tie-in set Hogwarts Castle set, 5378.

Yeah I agree. The standards may have been kinda inconsistent at times, but Indiana Jones is very well in the "silly movie" (and at times almost slapstick) territory.
That stuff or the thing Cobi pulls with their smiling Nazi soldiers does not leave a good taste in my mouth and I absolutely 100% see why Lego tries to distance itself from that.
Military MoCs are cool in my book but as soon as you market that stuff directly to children ... idk man.

This came in a cool set 7625, with Indy's favorite pet alligator and snake.

Let's not forget that Irina Spalko the main villain in the film came from Ukraine.

Eastern Ukraine if I remember correctly, probably meaning the Donbas area. Considering that the whole of Ukraine was under Russian occupation in the 50s I guess that they didn't mean anything special with that considering that this movie was made well before the invasion of Crimea. In general I strongly disapprove of making communist and nazi minifigures because those are probably the most evil real life factions in modern history.
