Today's random figure is frnd0010 Friends Olivia (Light Nougat) - Dark Blue Layered Skirt, Dark Pink Top with Hearts, a Friends figure that came in one set, 3065 Olivia's Tree House, released during 2012.

Our members collectively own a total of 6,900 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at Brick Owl or BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $1.50.

Almost double Friends! These early sets had a simple charm about them, especially the limited colour palette.

I completely agree. Still my favorite era for the theme, actually.

Hey, another friends figure, and another one i have a personal connection to!

3065 was my first lego friends set, so this was my first friends figure!

Anyway, lore!
Olivia is a science genius - she loves inventing, building and discovering how things work. Her friends are in awe of her amazing brain, but she's sweet and fun, too. When she's not in her workshop, Olivia likes to explore nature.

I swear Olivia seems to pop up more than any other Friends minidoll. Was she the closest thing that generation of the theme had to a main character?

The "limited color palette" proved problematic, however, as perfectly evidenced by this character's retconning into a POC. While the argument that all minifigs are yellow because no people are yellow holds water, it falls flat when the entire theme uses realistic skintones, and minority characters exist, but none of them are main characters.

The OG! (Which apparently means Original Gangster, which I learned from this website's comments).

Crazy to think that Friends began in the time of Ninjago's 2nd year, Monster Fighters and CMF series 6, 7 and 8. It was only that summer when the newer bracket parts such as the upside down 2x2 and both 1x2 bracket versions debuted. The age of limited SNOT had not ended when the first Friends arrived on the scene. Although a lot of themes continued the design philosphy of before, sets like 9448 were already making crazy use of the stability and compactness the new SNOT methods could provide. That led to today's tiny parts and SNOT everywhere approach where every surface has to be sculpted on a core of brackets.
It would take a while for friends to truly embrace it because it's less needed for buildings and regular vehicles (versus creatures or mechs), but today we often see it used for external detailing too.

Pretty much. She was the main character in the original mini movie that detailed how the original five friends met each other. She was also the main character in the final mini movie before the revamp. I always considered her to be the lead.

Had Olivia shown up yesterday, we would've had double Friends randoms! Anyway, all the outfits the Friends wore during the first year of the theme were quite plain and simple compared to the highly detailed ones we have now. The torso on this version of Olivia can be used for Paisley from the new Friends line, while the skirt can be used on most minidolls. 3065 was one of the first sets I got from the theme, and it's quite a nostalgic model with the basic colors, the flat-looking tree branches, and the quite large birdhouse. Different times for sure!
