Random figure of the day: sh0231
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random figure is sh0231 Iron Man - Mark 7 Armor, Small Helmet Visor, a Super Heroes figure that came in one set, 10721 Iron Man vs. Loki, released during 2016.
Our members collectively own a total of 3,140 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at Brick Owl or BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $26.10.

The MK VII’s always been one of my favorite Iron Man suits.
"Our members collectively own a total of 3,140 of them."
I think there's a mistake in the figure listing.
Instead of "collectively", it should say "each".
Ah yes, I remember that battle between Iron Man and Loki. That set captured the scene perfectly!
If you go by how Bricklink distinguishes figures, I don't have this. If you go by how *most people* would distinguish figures, I do, because I have https://brickset.com/minifigs/sh0036/iron-man-mark-7-armor-small-helmet-visor-foot-repulsors, which is just this with a 1x1 cylinder brick attached to each foot.

Not sure if you're trying to make a point, or if you don't know what the word "collectively" means.

I think the Mark 47 is the one I used to make Iron Squirrel and Iron Tippy, but I hear the Mark 30 has a nice face.

*sigh*
Never mind.

Yes, everybody in the cinema cheered when Iron Man first summoned his Iron Car to keep Loki away from a laser cage
Fun fact: these days, Loki considers himself a founding member of the Avengers.
I mean, on a technical level, I guess he's not wrong.
It looked a bit simple for a 2016 version. Then it turned out it came from a 4+ set. And it's the 2012 version without 1x1 round bricks.
There we go.
Shame about the old helmets. I still think those looked much better than the new ones. Then again, we had more than enough chances of obtaining those. My relationship with Iron Man figures is strange, as I always wanted to acquire some specific ones when they came out but something else came up everytime, hence I own only four classic Iron Man figures.

The complication here is that Ironman was almost always molded in dark-red, so how many different Ironman suits are now ticking time bombs?

Fair point, same would go for such lines as PotC, TLotR and so on. We can always appreciate the few unusual Iron Men in white, black or other colours.

That doesn't work for everyone. Certainly not for anyone who wants to own every Ironman suit, and not for me. Iron Squirrel's Ironman suit was a mix of red and silver, of which four armors fit the bill. The only tail that works is dark-red, so that rules out the safest, which is the red Rescue armor. Mark 33 has the ideal arc reactor, but is crazy expensive, and being from 2016 is just too risky. Mark 5, from 2019, is safest, but barely has any silver on it. That leaves Mark 47, which has the best silver deco, but being from 2017 I'm just hoping it doesn't turn brittle, or that they eventually release a new armor I can switch to.
The other reason I chose that one was it comes with a gold faceplate. Iron Squirrel wears a silver faceplate, but since I planned to leave her head bare, there was only one thing I needed the helmet for, and that's Iron Tippy, who wears a gold faceplate. If either part of that helmet goes bad, there are plenty of safer options.
