Saw the picture and was like, "What the heck is this?" Saw the name of the figure and was like, "That explains it."

@CapnRex101 in response to your last comment on Biggs: only because the Dark Siders who have yet to receive Minifigures are constantly fighting with the Jedi who have yet to receive Minifigures. Yaddle and the Seventh Sister are particularly sore about it.

Meanwhile, in the Harry Potter/Wizarding World wing of the “Will I Ever Be a Minifigure” Club, things are a lot less crowded and contentious. Tom resignedly works the bar there just as he does the one in the Leaky Cauldron. The presence of a large number of grumpy Fantastic Beasts characters keeps everyone else from complaining too loudly.

I never understood what J.K. Rowling was thinking when she named this character. Her name sounds like the stage name of an erotic film actress.

@SearchlightRG:
But the Tonnika sisters show up early in the film that kicked off the saga. And by all accounts, they will be waiting forever to get official minifigs, because Lucasfilm reportedly failed to secure their likenesses for merchandizing. The only official toy I know of is from Galoob's Action Fleet line, which is just one half of the pair, and stands 1" tall (too small to even depict an accurate likeness). So, by default, they will have been waiting the longest of anybody to get their minifigs.

@Librarian1976:
The moon is often associated with witchcraft and wizardry, and the last name...yeah, that sounds like the love interest from a James Bond film.

This is an author that effectively named two werewolf characters “Wolfy McWolferson”, Luna’s doing pretty well by contrast!

The Tonnika sisters are mainline Kenner/Hasbro vintage collection action figures included with the Cantina Haslab.

I mean, J.K. Rowling isn't exactly known for being good at naming people. It boils down to racial and ethnic stereotypes as well as overall very uninspired names or names that basically spoil the story in advance.

HP collectible minifigs were the best. Hope for more.

Or a character in the next Austin Powers movie. Although it's quite a bit more tame than Felicity Shagwell or Yvonne Humpalot :-)

Also, "Luna" sounds like "Loony"; naturally, other Hogwarts students took advantage of that.

Ivana, not Yvonne.

There was a discussion of that in a previous article. I was thinking it had been an article in this feature, but Luna's only appearance here was https://brickset.com/article/96135/random-minifig-of-the-day-colhp05, and there's no such discussion there, so either it was some other article, or the pertinent comments were removed.

Not in the German dub ;-)
Just kidding. You're right of course.
By the way, in the German dub she is called Anette Halbestunde...

Lovegood is a legit English surname, if not exactly common these days: https://www.houseofnames.com/lovegood-family-crest

Don't forget there at least used to be the not too uncommon surname Lovejoy as well, which is in a similar vein I suppose.

I always thought that it was a double joke: the punny innuendo plus the fact that hump rhymes with trump and our President’s first wife was named Ivana.

It’s the alliteration that does it. If she were named Karen Lovegood, her name wouldn’t sound like the alias of a lady who disrobes for the camera.

Except:
1. It doesn’t work with any other name (not if you want to keep a PG-13 rating).
2. This was released in 1999, when about the most offensive thing people knew him for was forcing a cameo in Home Alone 2
3. They got divorced nearly a decade earlier.

1. Insofar as it was a gag in Austin Powers, whose preferred term for that activity was "shag", the character could have been named, "Ivana Shagalot". I have no way of proving it, but I suspect that "hump" was chosen to rhyme with "Trump".
2. I'm not sure why people hating him since he became president in 2016 is relevant to his ex-wife being a famous socialite in the 1980's who would have been a known name in 1999 and therefore a good subject for a pun.
3. That does not negate her being a known individual whose name would be a good subject for a pun.

They already used that joke in the first one, with Felicity Shagwell.

"2. I'm not sure why people hating him since he became president in 2016 is relevant to his ex-wife being a famous socialite in the 1980's who would have been a known name in 1999 and therefore a good subject for a pun."

People knew who he was, but until he got his own TV series, he just wasn’t a big enough public figure (unless you lived in NYC) to merit many references of that nature. Simpsons did it, but Simpsons did everything. Home Alone 2 did it, but he required a cameo as a condition for letting them film in that hotel. And he got chopped first thing when they made the TV edit, because the director hated having to agree to the cameo.

"3. That does not negate her being a known individual whose name would be a good subject for a pun."

She’d really faded out of the public eye by that time, I believe. Most people who knew her only knew her as his wife, so once they got divorced, it’s not like he wanted to share the spotlight with her anymore. The only news I remember hearing about her after the divorce is when she died. Not that I followed them in the news, of course.

I'd *wondered* why he did that cameo!
