Twin-Linked, higher accuracy, such were the days, 40.000 weeks ago.

Hot take;

LEGO castle owns.

By in United Kingdom,

So many more recent figures, it’s nostalgic to see one that’s more my generation. They’re classics for a reason!

By in Netherlands,

Black knight figs are always a bit confusing as other factions sometimes used the scale mail torsos. At least here they both had shields.

Oh yeah, the dual defender was manned by -who else?- twins!

Lego used to look like this and it was amazing

The Black Knights used the scale mail torsos first, but after 1989 consistency was tossed out of the window. To be fair, though, the colour coding was already all over the place with the (horse-back) knights since 1984. Without the shields it is often hard to tell which faction they belong to, and in some cases it felt like even the folks at LEGO didn't know -- or care (case in point: 6041-1).

I can imagine if someone has OCD, these things can really get on their nerves. For some reason, I do like these odd pairings of colours, because it makes these minifigs 'unique', and it adds a bit of personality to an otherwise bland army.

By in Belgium,

Just a couple of days after the Black Knight's wife minifig, we get the French Taunter's brother:

ARTHUR: If you will not show us the Grail, we shall take your castle by force!
FRENCH TAUNTER: You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called Arthur King, you and all your silly English k-nnnnniggets. Thpppppt! Thppt! Thppt!
GALAHAD: What a strange person.
ARTHUR: Now look here, my good man--
FRENCH TAUNTER: I don't wanna talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

By in United States,

I loved this era of figures. Even though the colors didn't mean anything when it came to factions. Now you can just as easily blend them as whatever.

But late 80s/early 90s was my era and castle/pirates ruled (although I enjoyed the space and town stuff too)

Four minifigures with non-hair headgear in a row, technically.

By in Finland,

I wonder why the blue scale mail torso is so much less used compared to the red one?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Kinda funny that despite being a generic classic castle fig, this exact combination of legs, torso, and helmet only appeared in one set.

By in United States,

My first Black Knight! (And my second!)

My fourth set overall, too--and for over a decade all the Black Knights I would get, despite 6086 being my all-time favourite. I just a TAD too young and missed them in stores.

As a result, one of my two Dual Defender boys got tricked out with a crown and became King of the Black Knights. And perhaps for that reason, I've always been convinced its the white-plumed knight with 6086 who is the king, because he's the one who has a blue torso, black arms, and a standard smiley head.
