I had my order in (incl Grond) at 00:59 local time. My order confirmation was only for Minas Tirith, no Grond. If I put it in my basket now, Grond is still very available. Sigh.

Sad to not be getting this, but I have to save up money for other things! Those figs are truly spectacular!

They will likely add it as this often happens immediately at release. If not, get in touch with customer service, probably quickly in case they sell out, and they will add it in for you."

I even had a time when I had qualifying sets loaded in my cart midday on January 2nd, delayed about an hour before placing the order, and 40448 had sold out. And then about a week after my order arrived, I got a box with just the GWP in it.

It's having technical issues. I got my order in but it has not been confirmed yet. Sigh. It had several issues as I went to purchase but it all seemed to work in the end....until the end. I have an order number but when I go back to the My orders screen it says, "We’re doing some maintenance on this page, so you won’t be able to see your order history or tracking info right now. Please check back in later."

that happens all the time, no fret. As long as you got the confirmation you are set. There's always a chance that maybe shipment gets delayed for whatever reason but your set is secured.

Seems to be going smoothly for most, but I had to attempt ordering 5+ times, and on the final time, all of my points and gift cards were spent, but I never received a confirmation, and it never took me to a confirmation screen, and it does not show up in my recent orders. But my bank was charged, and all my points are gone, and my gift cards are empty, so here's hoping it went through somehow? I'll know in the morning, I suppose.

Tried using all my points (it was a lot) and the order didn’t go through. Now all my points are gone and if I want the promo I need to pay full price.

This is simply unacceptable. Each time they do these releases it gets worse and worse.

Ugh, had gotten all the way to processing my order before it timed out and failed. Wouldn't normally be a big issue, but i used all 29k of my points for a discount and now they are gone. I'm guessing I'll have to call customer service tomorrow to get them back. Had to make a "second" order which did seem to work.

I’m in the same boat. Card was charged, my gift card balances are empty and VIP points were deducted so I’m assuming the order went through

Call them right away tomorrow, and if there's a duplicate order you might be able to have them cancel it. If it shows that it's "In Warehouse", then it's probably too late, and returning it will be a little trickier.

What a rollercoaster ride! I got in quick…but the set full on disappeared. Wasn’t in my list, not on the homepage. Frantically I quirked away! There it was! That's what I assumed and I also immediately sent them an email, but it not being in the order confirmation does make me very uneasy. It's still not sold out yet though so I hope customer service answers quickly.

Same happened to me, after multiple attempts it said it did not go through and when I went to do it again all my points were gone and my gift card was used up, but I never got confirmation on the order going through. I reordered and just paid full price and that went through with a confirmation and email, also my credit card is showing two charges pending. Either I'll have two sets coming in and will have to return one or I'll have to call and get them to straighten out the points and charges. Either way Lego website has created a mess again.

Give them a call when their lines open. You managed to place an order before the offer went live as the clock ticked over so the order wouldn’t have had Grond attached.

Great set but will wait a year or two, eventually there is always a great deal to be found outside of Lego Inc.

For such a large set, there aren’t many minasfigures. And the Grond GWP only has two mordorfigures.

Had no joy last night after three failed attempts.

Tried again this morning, no problems. Grond still in stock.

Update: I talked to Lego customer service this morning and they have no idea what happened to the first order. Their IT department is looking into the issue. If both orders ship I’ll have to return the 2nd. If the first order doesn’t ship, then they’ll refund my credit card and apply the gift cards to the 2nd order

I was worried about it because of the Nazgûl, but then I remembered what happened the next time. Had to give up on The Shire and go to bed, but when I got up the next morning, Sméagol’s Birthday Party was still in stock. And then there was a mixup at the local LEGO Store last year, and I was given a second copy by way of appeasement. And that means the store never actually ran out during the promo period. So I didn’t even attempt to get a purchase through last night.

Tried calling Lego twice and waited ten minutes each time but I never got ahold of a rep to discuss my vip points disappearing

They have a callback function. Input a number where you can be reached, and it puts you in line without having to wait in line. When your number’s up, they call you.

Pretty pissed about all the exclusive goodies they gave away at the launch event (see new additions) which was pretty much booked out everywhere in hours after announcement. But nothing for working class people who cannot just skip work in the morning to waste an hour in the store. At least last year they gave the poster to all customers who bought the set in stores on day 1.

Pretty neat stickers of Aragorn & Gandalf. A sweet print of Minas Tirith..and a build of a couple siege towers & a catapult. Luckily it looks like nothing exclusive & the instructions are in the “Images” part of the set. Search siege tower for it.

Surprised Brickset didn't get to review this set before launch day. Haven't they reviewed all the other LOTR sets thus far?

The nice thing about this hobby, is that you can literally build your own gate to keep. Less nice, is that other people will insist on judging your gate for using illegal techniques, or for not liking the right theme of bricks. Gatekeeping gates, what a dumb hill to die on.

Right, maybe I didnt word it the best, and I shouldn't have claimed that person as "not a true fan"
I am against gatekeeping as well, in a hobby this large there are always going to be different areas that we like/dislike and different amounts we can engage with, and comparison, for the most part, is meaningless.
I have less issues with someone who went with their kid, did not buy the set, but the kid looked like he enjoyed himself building the tower.

But I dont think questioning why there was someone booked a place at a very limited pre-launch event if they were not going to engage with said event in any way, and therefore keeping it from others who would have enjoyed such an opportunity, is such a horrible crime of 'gatekeeping'.
