Real Technic! I think my brother has this but I haven't seen it built yet. Too bad, it's got all sorts of cool functions.

Not often nowadays do we get large unlicensed Technic sets.

* co-branded by Blammo!

By in Turkey,

Integrated powertrain, visible functions, great modeling... I can't ask for more, true Technic. Even B model looks good.

By in Denmark,

I have no idea how, but somehow ended up with two of these...

It’s given itself quite a large carrying capacity for a single, quite small log

This one was on my wanted list, but I never did get round to buying it. Looking at the state of current Technic I wish I had though. Any owners here? Is it worth getting one on the 2nd hand market?

One from when I was just getting out of my darjk ages....maybe this could have speed up that process a bit. Very cool set!

The log came from a tree made of wheels?

By in Ireland,

8868 V2, but with linear actuators instead of pneumatics.

Pretty cool set. The big trucks ith crane arms and other gizmos were always the cool wheeled flagship vehicles. This is no Air Tech Claw Rig in terms of how iconic it is, but having a gear train with linear actuators is cool and something they haven't done much on crane arms I think.

That log made it something that stuck with me despite that I had't really looked at Technic all that much anymore at that point. A bunch of reddish brown wheelcaps stacked like that makes for a wonderful object to be carried around.

The motorisation was clever, switching between rotating and lifting in a relatively simple boom. Also the European style model B truck could have being a set on its own.

Rubber tree: you peel off the bark to remold these 62.4x20 tyres.

At that time it found it somewhat overpriced because of the motor + battery box.
If I remember correctly, you need have to switch the battery box to reverse the motor driven function.
The front is nicely modeled but the rear is rather empty chassis. Therefore it is rather flexing. Optimistically said that would replace suspension since it adopted nicely to small differences in the terrain (e.g. carpet).

And: I am not a big fan of these folding arm cranes: small reach and fiddly to operate.

The only set I have answering to that description is 42128, but I'm glad I have it.

Interesting timing for this set to pop up as I am rebuilding one from a bulk lot right now.

Wow, how could I have forgotten that one? What a cool set.

Fortunately I was able to obtain 8868 via ebay a couple of years back, which I never got as a kid.
This one looks like a worthy successor, even without the pneumatics.

Nice motor functions without smartphone, nice B model and a 33% discount on Amazon. Those days are long gone.
