40902 Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci has arrived on LEGO.com, continuing the series of 'tribute' gifts-with-purchase released in recent years.

This set contains 251 pieces and a Leonardo da Vinci minifigure, re-using elements from 10363 Leonardo da Vinci's Flying Machine. We have no official information concerning when the set will be available or what the purchase threshold will be, but given it is on LEGO.com, presumably it will be released later this month.

It seems like the Mona Lisa is a printed tile, which would be great. You can view more images below...

What do you think of this gift-with-purchase? Let us know in the comments.

Leonardo. Best Renaissance Master, worst Ninja Turtle.

By in Germany,

Set is cool, but the minifigure printing re-use is kinda lame and they should have given him a green brush instead.

Uhh... that second part's gotta be ragebait, right?...

By in United Kingdom,

An excelent GWP. Much better than recent repeats. Been looking forward to this one!

By in New Zealand,

Love the Mona Lisa print. How has it taken this long to get the world's most famous painting as a printed piece?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Nice set. Sadly another GWP.

Ragebait would be "worst of the -five- Ninja Turtles".

Except for 40579, I have all of the tribute sets, and Leonardo da Vinci is *the* Renaissance man (and a historical figure that I've always found fascinating), so I'm definitely getting this.I'll almost certainly be getting it on the secondary market, but I'll be getting it. Also, I'm wondering if he's actually attached to the ornithopter in that picture on the back of the box.

Michelangelo could kick both their asses.

If you look closely you see that he is attached with a neck bracket.

By in Norway,

Looks nice but I don't feel the "need" for this like I will the remake of Sea Serpent.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Very nice, wonder if it will go with a specific set...

no he's not!

By in Finland,

I find it very insidious that contrary to the common discourse LEGO does make a lot of sets for older demographies that could be sold with more affordable price tags, but chooses to exclusively bundle them as gifts with purchases over 100 €. Not cool, I would've bought this for 30 €.

By in United States,

I was thinking they'd already done this one before, but I must have been thinking of 40595. And also this:

Objectively true. Mikey, while the youngest, is also the first Ninja Turtle, and he would canonically be the last Ninja Turtle. He's been Nexus Champion. Leo is the most disciplined, but Mikey has the most natural raw talent. His fighting style doesn't get bogged down by overthinking, for the simple reason that he just doesn't think most of the time. He also has the least predictable fighting style, and predictability means you're easy to defend against.

By in United Kingdom,

This is one way to own a LEGO Mona Lisa that even vaguely resembles the original.

This is an odd mistake to make. It's still on PAB in green so they definitely could have.

Donatello achieved everything long before them both. :p

Starry Night, Girl With the Pearl Earring, and now Mona Lisa. Any other classic paintings with official Lego versions I'm not thinking of?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Kinda boring. It was already up on the Lego Certified website a few days back as a gift here but Vintage Car went in the cart instead. Obviously a mistake

Boutique Hotel has a Mondrian in the art shop, but I'm not sure if it's an accurate build.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is that a new plum pièce, if not where has it appeared before. (I'm going to assume Friends maybe)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Been delaying a very large order for well over a month waiting for this (or any other reasonably good GWP). This one will do - as mentioned above, too bad they used the same leg/torso but at least he has a different head piece.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Excellent. I love these Tribute kits, and I will likely/definitely be haunting ebay for this one, too. The flying machine usability option is delightful.

My initial thought was just GIMME GIMME GIMME but I translated it into more sensible human.

(Also, can confirm that if you’re very patient and very persistent and very willing to send borderline indecent offers to people, it is eventually possible to get Eiffel’s Apartment from ebay for a moderately reasonable price.)

The blue brush might actually be the more accurate part of the scene.
If you look closely at the real life painting, you'll find that there is no pure green used in it.

The printed tile of the painting is therefore actually the 'mistake' in the set.
Or perhaps it can be seen as an early version of the portrait?
After all, Da Vinci continued working on it for virtually the rest of his life.

By in United Kingdom,

Ooh, definitely want that to go alongside 10363 and 31213 so now I have an excuse to buy more LEGO! (As if I actually need one!)

Plum..? I assume you are are talking about the green pear? If so, it's a newer piece that has remained almost exclusive to Animal Crossing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope the Mona Lisa tile has ‘this is a fake’ printed on the back!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now that Lego has the Star Trek license, they should include a Captain Janeway in this one!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This will look cool next to the Galileo set. I'll pull the trigger on the Black Pearl to get this one.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

It is a must-have!!

Great Leonardo!!

I will put next to the tribute to Galileo Galilei!!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I can just imagine DaVinci standing next to the painting and saying "shoot, let's go crazy and give her a moustache, shall we. It's our world and in our world we can do whatever we like."
:-)

It depends on which continuity we're talking about.

60008 :)

By in France,

Mona Lisa looks much better in this set than in the Lego Art version :-)

It will definitely be mine and will look great displayed by the Galileo one.

Will probably buy the Monet set to get it (and hopefully they will offer the doubled VIP points when the GWP releases).

It’s available on OPAB: part ID 5822. That’s how I got one.

Unless there’s some sets I’m missing only two of the sets the pear is in are Animal Crossing, and the others are Icons (11372), One Piece (75637), Star Wars (75422 & the only one in blue), and this GWP. Not that that changes your basic point that it isn’t particularly widespread yet!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've been wanting a couple of sets and definitely will wait for this to go live, great little set, puts to shame many others, and yes, definitely should be sold too.

Monkie Kid did make a plum element. Or maybe it was a peach. You know, something inedible.
