Random figure of the day: sh1042
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random figure is sh1042 Dum-E - Black Mechanical Claw, a Super Heroes figure that came in one set, 76315 Iron Man's Laboratory: Hall of Armor, released during 2025.
Our members collectively own a total of 1,737 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at Brick Owl or BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $2.80.

Finally, a Technic set I can handle!
If anyone's interested, I brought popcorn.
I mean it's got that droid torso piece, so at least its got parts of a minifigure...
“Now that’s a minifig!”
I was actually going to comment about the yellow B1/LoM returning for the first time since ‘08… and then I realized that wasn’t true, it came back three years ago. Shows how uneventful the sets it’s been in were.

Not as Lego defines a minifigure.

Fits in with the new Mighty Machines
A yellow figure in a licence set.
That's been a while

No, no, 71047-2 was just last year.
If Dum-E gets to be a figure, I think the little HERO robots in City Space should too.
I like the way they did the treads
(Quickly scans comments for Wall-E jokes)
Is this Wall-E’s cousin?
Kinda' looks like Wall-E and Johnny-5 got 'merged'...in the worst ways possible...D
Funny timing. I just rewatched Iron Man today.

LEGO’s official designation for what counts as a minifigure is flimsy at best. That’s why we are in this situation in the first place.

Would any of the pieces there even count as "Technic" pieces?
Prototype ARC reactor not included

And it doesn’t contain a single Technic piece!

At first I actually thought it was one of those.
Fun fact: the actor who played DUM-E would later be disassembled and recast as H.E.R.B.I.E. in the Fantastic Four movie.

"No disassemble!" - Johnny 5

I have no clue what you mean?
Robot?
Voice actor?
Matthew Wood, does the voice for H.E.R.B.I.E. in The Fantastic Four: First Steps
DUM-E in Iron Man, did not have any voice actor. In Vision Quest, Henry Lewis, either as voice or human form.

I think you mean the Bricklink definition (where this posting ultimately draws from). The LEGO definition is pretty rigidly defined with the express purpose of being legally actionable if someone directly copies their minifig design. Something like this falls way outside of that definition, which is why TLG markets stuff like this and R2-D2 as “characters” instead of “minifigs” or “minifigures”. Everything can be a character, including animals that even Bricklink won’t classify as minifigs.

And https://brickset.com/minifigs/sw1379/jedi-bob-(bobarian-afol)-dark-bluish-gray-tunic-reddish-brown-hood-and-cape came out the year before that.

It was a joke.
Fun fact: this character is solely responsible for some genius presidents not knowing that "dumb" has a "B" at the end until the tender age of 80.

Nope, they both came out the same year (2024).

Bah. I kept finding new reasons to buy more, a little at a time, and was probably still hunting for the few remaining local sources well into 2025. I even chased down one Gith specifically for @BlackFalconBirdman, and didn’t get a chance to do the handoff until early this year. I also still see Jedi Bob in several stores. It doesn’t officially retire until Friday, even though I grabbed a copy on clearance over a year ago.
Looks like the 'not a minfigure' responses are now hardbaked into the 'random figure of the day' listings.
