ISS reaches 10,000 Supporters

On Friday the International Space Station reached 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas.

This is one of those projects concepts that is destined for 10,000. It checks off all the boxes you need to get the votes.

I believe it is going to have a difficult time in review though. I have yet to see an ISS LEGO build that does the structure justice while also being buildable and displayable in full earth gravity.

If a reader can link to such a real world build I would be quite obliged.

The International Space Station will join the following projects in the next review:

There are 23 days left until the review period closes.

I first read that as ISIS reaches 10,000 supporters…

They could do what they did with the new Ultimate Tie Fighter, have it on a stand that allows you to spin it around.

By in Bulgaria,

If it passes, hopefully it will have vital components that always fall off for added realism

The ISS would be a sweet set for this space fan. But this Pratchett fan really wants the Discworld set to clinch it considering the great man's passing.

Congrats to ISS! I'd love to add this to my collection of space-themed LEGO sets!

Same here on the ISIS mis-read.

Looks a bit fragile... In gravity you have seen it smashed into pieces. The question is: would you like the same thing to happen in your bedroom? It will either be really fragile and detailed or sturdy and simplified.

By in Australia,

I'm hoping discworld gets through for obvious reasons. Although it's plainly obvious the ice palace has no chance what so ever, even though LEGO saw it before they released their product, probably because the deadline had already been set.

The Discworld
- Really interested in seeing this set become a reality, lots of interesting builds and could easily see someone buying this to have a Turtle or some Elephants even if they are not Discworld fans.

Science Adventures
-Honestly feel this went through mostly on the figures and the tiger, like the female figure set I don't really like the idea other than for the mini-builds which I feel have been done better elsewhere... the most unique piece being the tiger this time (as compared to the dinosaur skeleton the other time)

Medieval Market Street
- Even as a UCS set this is a massive 'NO', the piece count for this must be insane and with so many figures chances of this being made are next to none, especially if a designer wanted to remain faithful to the sets original design.

Disney Princess Frozen: Elsa's Ice Palace
- This is another one of those sets which should have been told that it was not going to become a thing the second we got another version of the set announced. Similar to the Helicarrier, this is a better set than what we got, but sadly unlikely to happen due to a pre-existing set.

Douglas DC-3
- Main appeal of this set is the smoothness, almost all the studs covered. Though depending on which of the two designs would be chosen, I cant see this going for anything cheap enough for me to say yes to...

Bricksauria | Tyrannosaurus Rex
- A beautiful looking T-Rex that would do well selling with the Jurassic World sets or as a collectors thing similar to the birds set... would definitely get it if it gets chosen.

The International Space Station
- While I'm a fan of the set, I express the same stability issues as mentioned here. Then again, the realistic space theme has never interested me too much in Lego so I probably wouldn't pick it up regardless.

By in Germany,

Regarding the common piece counts for IDEAS models, I think this ISS would turn out as the "Size M version" with 299 pieces, and "this one is based on the original LEGO set 7467, but heavily upgraded" (article description). Personally I'm not very keen on getting another miniature model that already exists in my collection.

I think I'm just kind of over this whole IDEAS thing. I bought Ghostbusters and Delorean because of the source material, not because of the original model. Nothing else has really interested me....now if Minas Tirith is made, I will change my mind because that is needed.

Sethro3, I kind of feel the same way. Delorean was novel, and while I like Birds, I don't like it enough to buy. I feel like IDEAS is just me-too's these days: another female minifigs, another 80's movie, another popular TV show. The last Idea I was truly interested in that made the finals was the doomed Robotech Valkyrie.

EDIT: I do also like the DC-3, but if it's priced where I think it will be (especially considering all that chrome and what 10026 went for back in the day), I won't be buying.

By in Germany,

All these models don't strike me at all. Perhaps it's just me but I'm too spoiled by the Ecto 1 and want some vehicle / minifigure set: A-Team van, KITT, Futurama ship, Original Turtles party wagon, Aston Martin DB5, Miami Vice Ferrari, Magnum PI Ferrari, Jurassic Park Ford or something else. TLC has even access to most of these licenses: Turtles, Matt Groening, Ferrari, JP. If they can pull off the Ecto, why not these? After releasing the Simpsons sets, I also see no reason to decline Futurama anymore, as there is no huge difference in display of society, drugs etc.
