1969 Chevrolet Corvette approaches 10,000

Posted by ,

The Corvette is currently less than 60 votes away from 10,000. It was clear from day one that this Corvette would reach 10,000 in less than a year.

The Corvette is just too iconic to be ignored and pairing that with a design that impresses even hard core FOLs meant this project would make the rounds.

The Corvette will be joining ten other projects in the next review:

Am I the only one that feels it should be red?

I would prefer black.

55 to go.

You know what they say -- 'All Corvettes are red.'

Part of me hopes this makes it to the deadline, but the other side of me want the DC-3 to get made, and this would be a heavy contender.

I would support this one but turns out, I already did! I love this one. I agree, though, if this were going to be perfect, the blue would be black and the grey would be chrome. Red would work, too, though. And details tend to get lost in black with Lego, so I can understand not doing black.

^That's happened to me before too!
I supported this one - love the curves! I also shared on FB a few times. Only 16 to go now....
PREDICTIONS: There are so many getting into the review that we will see A) a record number of projects approved from one "group", and B) many of the projects will have their review decision postponed until the next period.

If you read his submission, particularly the updates, there is a reason that it is blue, as it is actually a specific car. BALDWIN PHASE 3 SS427. Updates also show alternate colours.

Only needs 3 more votes now.

Lego please make it happen.

I would pay more money than I would admit to myself to have one of these.

If this gets through the review I'm sooo going to buy it. Like TAFOL I just love detailed recreations of cool cars in Lego. And if a '69 Corvette isn't a cool car I don't know...

I don't buy big, expensive sets, but if this go to production, I'm getting one for sure!

By in Indonesia,

Glad to see this one has made it to 10k supporter. For me by far the most desirable model in the upcoming review and I suspect I'm not the only one who feels like that. A definite must-buy for any car lover. Let's hope Lego see the potential of this great car as well and turn it into an official set!

Is it my imagination or are more projects reaching 10K than before? I wonder if TLG will up the required number of votes to 15K or even 20K in future to thin the field.

@Zander: I think they will. And my quess would be 20,000.

This review session is going to be an exciting one, so many potentially amazing sets.

Ideas will only continue to grow--I'm sure we'll keep seeing more and more 10k projects as more people discover Ideas and start voting. I suspect they'll have to raise that number sooner or later. Or star having run-off votes. Or the best solution, commit to producing more sets!

Would work well, for early to mid 2016, notice there was no Creator car of this size that will come out for summer. So a $45-$50 set if it goes in, maybe $55.

It looks like this could be the last one (whew!) to get in. The AT one still needs 671 more, and it's the only one within 1000 to 10k.

Looks stunning but steering wheel's on the wrong side! ;)

You know, I supported this project WAY back when it was first put up. I'm glad it reached 10,000. This is actually the first set I've ever supported that made it to ten thousand.

All the 'real world' based Ideas in this review look great but 'that' Corvette... It's good on the eye! If ever there was an official Lego produced car that actually does justice to the real thing then this would certainly be it in my opinion. I don't really 'get' a lot of the pre-existing IP Ideas of this review but this or the plane I'd be happy to buy straight away

I think this jumped up to the frontrunner for the review block. It has everything and isn't something Ideas has done before like the "Science Adventures".

Great. Just great. I saw this a while ago, and immediately loved it.

As a fan who is just beginning to become an MOCer, this might end up in my sorting boxes, or if it's too good, it will be on a bookshelf, on display.

If LEGO can pull it off in a way that is partly true to the original design, well...

I am a hard-core FOL, and I am impressed.
