Raise the Nautilus!
Posted by glenbricker,Celebrated AFOL Orion Pax has 9 days to get the Nautilus to 5000 supporters.
If they can reach that milestone, the project will then get another six months to reach 10,000. Otherwise it will be sunk.
I am hoping the Brickset community can get this amazing MOC a well deserved extension. For those in the twitter community, please consider retweeting this.
Update: YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!
When I posted this article, The Nautilus was at around 2500 votes. In less than 24 hours The Nautilus has reached 4000 with 8 days to spare! Thanks to all the fans who voted and an extra special thank you to all those who shared the project with friends and social media. The push started here but it is moving out into Steampunk and Disney fans.
- For those who think this MOC is awesome but are not voting for it because you think its chances are poor in the review, here is my opinion on that subject:
Support the projects you think are awesome, no harm in getting them to the review, and it tells LEGO what you think IS awesome.
If you are certain LEGO will reject the project, then get it to the review by voting for it and prove yourself right ;) if LEGO rejects it.

I have seen this in the bricks, I would love to own it!
I think its sizes sinks its chances that LEGO would approve such a set, which is a shame as that looks really nice.
really really really awesome MOC. 0% chance of being selected for a production Ideas set.
I gave it my support. But I am doubtfull if it will gather 5000 in a few days.
I have seen it and passed by a few times mainly beacause the main picture. It doesn't reflect the project itself enough. To much stuff around it. To dark. With bricksets encourgement I decided to take a closer look and hit the 'support'-button quickly.
Hope it will make it!
How many pieces is it? I supported quite a while back.
Saw this in the bricks at Bricktastic last weekend. Awesome model! Voted and good luck!
Supporting it! Great model but may be too large for a LEGO set.
I am in the exact same shoes as kmvk83. I initially thought it was an LDD project. I am confident that if the second picture on a white background was used as the main picture, the project would garner more votes.
Being an amazing project that I d be happy to see live, it gets my vote.
It looks awesome and I really like it but ultimately when it comes down to it I probably wouldn't be able to afford another large purely display piece that'll just get busted up for parts.
Oh, it's Orion! He kinda up and left MOCpages, and he used to be an awesome Legoformer builder. He even used to chrome his parts!
Supported and tweeted! Hope it get's there. Sure looks like a terrific set to build.
To be honest, I'm not interested in this. It's a movie I saw during my childhood and haven't seen it ever since. But when I found out that the director is the same man who directed Tora! Tora! Tora!, one of my favourite historical films, I immediately voted yes. So yeah, I definitely won't buy it, but at least you have my support. Good luck.
Supported. It is quite a large model though.
Well I am not quite sure how many votes it had yesterday, but it was well under 3000. I think mine was 2882. Now with 3600+ votes it seems to have gathered atleast 800 in a day or so.
Just 1400 to go....
Interesting model. It has the correct look to it, so the designer did a good job. I doubt LEGO will approve this, what with the Stay Puft Ghostbusters project, and the Caterham Super Seven, but I think it could be a worthy opponent for the approval of TLG.
Regarding the supporters, there are 3705 as I type this, which is five more in less than five minutes. (I had the Ideas page up as I typed.)
I am now supporter 3729.
Great MOC and the book and the movie are part of my childhood. Would buy two.
j.
Supported.
I want to prove myself right. ;)
This said, Wall E was actually already a bigger build. If TLG gets it sold like he would like to sell it, maybe he will accept bigger MOCs. If this one's piece count is cut in half, maybe it gets a small chance.
That's actually really cool. Too bad I can't support it. :(
Meh! Built my own original steampunk submarine. Working on the giant squid next.
The only issue I have with this project is that I wish it gave more credit to the book, rather than just the movie. Lol. Especially since there's so much being mentioned about Disney, when the Disney of today isn't the same as it was 60 years ago, when the film was made.
Either way, loved the movie ever since I first saw it as a kid and I love the book even more. I supported this project a looong time ago and I'm so glad to see it finally getting the supporters it deserves.
Like others have stated there is 0% chance this gets selected. It is just to big. Why waste your time and efforts.
Well ^followsclosely, if you like the project why not support it? I consider TLC the party to evaluate if it is a feasable project. And the same time I consider myself just as a fan, and a little voice making clear what I really like to be a LEGO set, or theme.
I support almost every Legend of Zelda project (most of project I really ike naturally), just to make clear to TLC it is a Theme/Licence they should really get.
Furthermore, posting a comment here takes about the same amount of the (if not more) as supporting a project. So if you have the time to leave your thoughts here, you could have had the time for a support ;o)
I kind of disagree. Ideas isn't about voting for cool models. It's about voting for a model that would make a great Lego set that you would buy.
Most of the models on Ideas are very cool but not many of them would make great sets that I would buy. I am selective about what I will support rather than indiscriminately clicking support on every project that looks cool.
I would pay for a downscaled $100 version of this though... So bring it on!
@LostInTranslation: I agree with you on that. Ideas isn't about small MOCs, it's about making a decent model, that looks great on display. Not all the Ideas models are amazing, though, and on that acoount, I hope TLG starts moderating projects (not as in 'no licenses allowed', more 'no small KFOL-ised models), to avoid small, useless models that won't even get close to 5k supporters appear and clutter up the site. Example: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/113148 ; https://ideas.lego.com/projects/112945 ; https://ideas.lego.com/projects/111848 .
Overall, TLG needs to manage the Ideas site better. Less (not so) cool, small models, and more larger, amazing models with great building techniques. THAT is what the fan community is looking for. Ideas isn't about cool models. It's about large, detailed models that make you proud of being a member of the fan community.
And, on the subject of this great project, 4105 supporters!
^I agree about voting for projects that would actually make good sets withing reasonable parameters, but I think that the whole point of the site is for us to moderate the initial stages. I think it's great that anyone can submit an idea, even if it results in a lot of small models that are never going to get many votes. One can sort submissions by level of support, which helps zoom in on the best of them.
Does anyone know how many pieces this Nautilus model is? It does look to be on the large side for Ideas viability, but I voted for it, as the design is sharp. There is a limit to what I consider to be worth voting for (the X-Mansion was just too big).
Well, we will see. If Titanic makes it through review there might be some chance for this model. At any rate, if we push this to 5k, it will give us the chance to find out. It is huge though!
@Privatematrix: I didn't actually remember about the Titanic. It's a danger for this project now. If that gets through, this won't, because TLG won't allow another ship to pass the review for Ideas anytime soon, to avoid the 'more of the same' complaints. If the Titanic gets rejected, there is a glimmer of hope for this, because as soon as TLG realizes it's up on Twitter, and there's a huge fan base for it, we might get lucky.
We're now at 4377 supporters. A push from less than 2500 to almost 4400 in under 40 hours might have surprised TLG a little bit.
I have shared to my steampunk group on fb and there has been alot of interest. I would buy it.
It still needs 367 votes in the next 6 days to reach 5,000. It would be a shame for it to come so close and fall short. It is not too much further from 4,633 to 5,000. Help Captain Nemo
Less than 200 to go now. I've supported--IMO it's not much larger than the Ghostbusters set and looks like an intriguing build. Besides, I don't see why we shouldn't support large sets that we admire even if they're unlikely to become official sets. I would very willingly have paid for the Natural History Museum, for example.
Orion is an AMAZING builder. I have purchased several model from him. This model is incredible and it has my support. Not supporting it because you think its too big does not make sense to me. Support it, and let the Ideas folks sort it out. Maybe like some said, it opens the door for a slightly scaled down version. I would LOVE to see OrionPax (Alex) to get an Ideas set produced.
